Directions

Apply Sébium Mat Control to the face in the morning and/or evening after cleansing with Sébium Gel Moussant and/or H2O, focusing on areas with the highest oil flow. Massage in using fingertips until absorbed. Excellent mattifying makeup base.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Shannon J. from I'm a fan of Bioderma, and this Sebium Mat Control is no exception. It is a really nice mattifying moisturiser, which wears well and sits nicely underneath makeup. For me it's a bit pricey, sitting at $30.99 for 30mL, but it is a nice product and does what it claims. I have combination skin, that sits on the drier side throughout winter, so I am very excited to see how this performs once summer hits and my skin becomes more oily. Depending on how it performs in the warmer weather, I would consider repurchasing, especially if I could pick it up on sale.\nPS. I have sensitive skin and found no irritation with this product.\n

Rated 4 out of 5 by Evana D. from This a great little product! It does look small however it is a standard 30ml size bottle and fits perfectly in my make up bag. It does have a slight smell but did not bother me at all. It is very light and doesn’t leave the skin feeling greasy or shiny under make up application. I do have an oily t zone I do find that products that are marketed like this tend to make me oilier during the day and this one didn’t the same. It was a nice moisturiser but wasn’t for me.

By the end of the day my skin was still matte, definitely a joy as shiny skin is gross! \n\nI did have a lot more blackheads whilst using this product, but it’s impossible to attribute it alone to it as so many other factors contribute to it. \n

It has a lightweight texture that instantly melts into the skin and gets absorbed very quickly. There is a pleasant but lingering scent, which doesn't irritate my skin. it has a delicate, matte powdery finish but nothing too drying. This moisturiser creates a smooth, even base for makeup and definitely helps makes my pores look less visible. It does a pretty good job controlling shine for a couple of hours at least, and I don't need to apply touch-ups. I find a little goes a long way and I don't need to use a lot on my T-zone to help minimise and control shine. Definitely a must-have for combination/oily skin and the Summer months when skin gets extra oily.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jacqui t. from My love for all things French pharmacy is,once again,cemented by having tried out this product.\nI adore French beauty products....they just know how to "do it right",and this offering from Bioderma...the Sebium Mat Control moisturiser,was another great example.I have a somewhat drier skin than perhaps this is aimed at,but i DID find that this gave me the matte look and feel i insist on for daytime wear.and yet kept my skin feeling soft and supple enough that i didn't feel my skin was "a size too small" after application (or throughout the day).This fine fluid (a very thin,liquid texture) absorbed immediately into my skin,and left me ready to apply makeup within seconds,with no greasy feel at all,it also had a delicate,slightly floral scent that was pleasant and comforting to note.The tube itself is a wonderful,compact 30mls,so taking this on a weekend away...or tucking it into your gymbag,is easy (and safe...it is a very durable and safe to be thrown around plastic).But what else sets this $30 lotion apart from the myriad of others out there ?\nWell,it does another thing i insist on from my products....double (or more) duty.It acts as an under makeup (or alone) primer,due to the mattifying powders and blurring agents,that help smooth and perfect the complexion without the need for other products,and then it contains the well known (and pore cleansing) salicylic acid to exfoliate and refine skin texture...leaving skin clean and clear,with (possibly),fewer breakouts,so right there you have a triple threat in one brilliant product.If you have an oilier visage,you will love this all year round,OR,if like me,you have a much more "sebum deficient" skin,this will be a must have for summer (which brings me to my last point:this lotion is perfect for day or night use,but if you wear during the day,this has NO SPF,so applying one is essential....that is Bioderma's only downfall here).\nGive this a try,and be ready to see what all the hype about French skincare is all about.\n

My skin is fairly oily and my makeup sweats off during the day. This is such a staple in my morning routine. I use this before my normal moisutrizer, and the matte effect it has makes it so much better to apply my makeup. It's like a sealer so my pores don't get clogged with makeup while oil develops throughout the day. I noticeably have less pimples and blackheads when I use it. If you want to stop getting clogged pores, add this to your morning routine

A pea sized amount is the recommended amount to apply and surprisingly it is actually enough and it keeps your skin hydrated and shine free all day. My pores looked smaller from the first application and my skin was noticeably softer. There is no residue left on your skin, another big plus. \nMy only negative and reason this moisturiser lost a star is after the first two days of use I had a massive breakout, something that does not happen to me unless a product disagrees with my skin. \n

It has a gentle but beautiful fragrance which I love so much. This moisturiser is perfect to use as a makeup base/primer as it kept my skin oil free the entire day but doesn't dry out my skin at the same time. I have dry skin/ combo and my skin didn't have any signs of tight or dry or uncomfortable at all which is amazing. The packaging is in a small 30ml plastic tube which is so handy to take with me when travelling. The only con I have is that it doesn't come with SPF which I wish it did so that I don't have to apply sunscreen on top.

And the creators of the original and very best micellar water. This time it’s a moisturiser that controls shine and oil while still remaining gentle and moisturising at the same time, got to love a good multi tasking beauty product.\n\nI’m very sensitive, redness and acne prone, yet dry at the same time so I was a little unsure about using a product that is aimed to mattify skin but I was still excited to test it out. I decided to just apply it to my tzone area of forehead, nose and chin, and then add a more moisturising and rich moisturiser to my cheeks, neck and décolletage, the best of both worlds. This moisturiser is in a handy and cute looking tube, making it very convenient and mess free. You really don’t need a lot of product at a time, and it applied quickly, easily and felt very moisturising for a matte moisturiser, a nice surprise. It can be used during the day if going makeup free, or under makeup, on the tzone area, it leaves you oil and shine free yet still with a nice, natural looking glow to skin that lasts all day long.\n\nI’ve used a few matte products over time and found them all too powdery, drying and flat looking on me, but this product is a real game changer for me. Matte, natural, oil free yet still radiant looking skin? Yes, yes and yes please. Bioderma is my all time favourite French, affordable and sensitive skin friendly, brand out there. I loved this and look forward to trying even more of their groundbreaking products. Rated 3 out of 5 by Anita R. from I have just had a quick look at the reviews and I am quite surprised I am one of the few that are not a fan of this mattifying cream. First of all, my skin is combination to oily and at some time throughout a day my skin will start shining no matter what. I stopped using mattifying moisturisers altogether as they did not seem to work and what is worse, they seemed to make my skin look even worse. Since I respect Bioderma and have used a few other products from the line and remember quite enjoyed using them in the past I was pretty excited to give this one a go. The packaging is light and travel friendly, the tube is plastic, can't really complain. The formula of the cream is very pleasant and has a nice smell. The cream applies well and leaves no sticky film or greasiness. However, I do feel like it sits on the skin. The first few minutes (if you are lucky hours maybe) the result is great and the skin looks even, is soft to touch, the pores seem to be less visible. While testing out this cream I decided to skip my regular primer as it was suggested that the Sebium mat control is a perfect make up base. It is true to some point. I was glad that it did not ball up underneath my faoundation. What it made foundation do was to settle in the creases and wrinkles and I did not like it. The face after the whole day look tired and a bit dehydrated, not to mention the shine in the t zone. All in all, I am not happy. I suppose it is better for a no make up days, when one wants somewhat polished look. But I do not like the feeling of it sitting on my skin. I am not sure whether it is moisturising enough. I would rather use a tissue to deal with the shine. Maybe it is better for teenagers?

Rated 3 out of 5 by A K. from I have an oily T.zone so I was very curious to see how this light cream would work for my skin. If I do break out it is always in the T.zone too. I used the cream consistently but for me it worked well for a few hours and then by the end of the day, it was back to being shiny. I also noticed that I got a few small breakouts while using this cream. I'm not sure if it was my skin reacting to the cream or nothing to do with it, all I know is it didn't prevent them.\nThe good things that I liked about using this cream was it smelt very pleasant and the consistency of it. It was very light but it didn't dry out my skin like other matt controlling products. I also found makeup glided nicely over the top of it. This is why I gave it three stars.\n I would therefore recommend this product to someone that has oily skin because it does control shine successfully for a few hours but not someone that has breakouts as I found it didn't do much for them.\n

Rated 1 out of 5 by Katie08 from Not good Saw Bioderma on sale. So thought I'd try something other than La Roche Posay, Sebum controller that's always worked well. This Bioderma product was terrible. It was watery and it hasn't been in the sun, isn't expired and is brand new. I attempted to put the water fluid on my face, unsure if maybe it's meant to be like that and it didn't do anything. I also tried shaking the tube to see, if the blobs would mix in, they wouldn't. Waist of money and time. For some reason this product went super liquidy and gross after a week as if it had melted. so it’s now practically unusable.

I have oily, acne prone skin, but this product really doesn't do anything in terms of mattifying, shine control, or smoothing out the appearance of pores. I didn't notice a difference in redness either. As a moisturiser it's fine, has a nice consistency that spreads well and is absorbed easily. It feels fine on the skin, I don't think it would clog my pores at all. But my biggest problem with it and why I can't even use it anymore is the fragrance. It is SO intense. I can deal with a little light fragrance (though I prefer zero, much better for the skin), but this is overpowering. Its VERY artificial, pungent, floral, and it stays all day. It irritates my throat and I end up sneezing from how strong it is. I've attempted to use this several different ways with layering or just in my T zone, and even tried it again a month after purchase just to check if maybe I had just been having a bad week, but no. I can't believe it, never had such an intense reaction to a fragranced product before. There's fragrance in my toner that doesn't bother me at all, but this one is next level strong. If you have sensitive skin or are sensitive to fragrances, I would steer clear of this one.

However, it didn't agree with my skin - perhaps from the silicone. It broke me out all over my face and dried out my skin/made it become parched and flaky. I assume the 'Mat Control' element was a bit too harsh on my normal skin. I had to discontinue use after three applications as my breakouts were getting worse, hence the short review. Once I stopped using it my skin cleared up again to where it was.

Unfortunately having oily skin also means I cannot use any products containing silicones, and this product did. Whilst it did slow my oil production throughout the day, after three days I was left with breakouts across my face rendering the product useless to me :( Back to the drawing board I am afraid.
