MULTI-USE MASK:
1. CONDITIONER: apply on wet hair after shampoo. Rinse thoroughly.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Convenient and multifunctional In a nutshell, this product left my hair feeling quite soft and smooth, but there are a few things that may need to be improved. Firstly, this product comes in a rather large bright yellow pot, which looks great, but isn't the easiest to use while in the shower. I had to fiddle with unscrewing the top off and then worry about shower water pouring into the pot while I try to scoop some out. On the upside, the product smells absolutely divine - in fact, a little like coconuts!? - and I love how you can use it like a normal conditioner, leave it on longer as a hair mask, or even as a leave-in conditioner! I only used it like a normal conditioner however, and one of the things I found while using it is that it doesn't feel like it rinses off easily, in that my hair still feels extremely heavy and full of product despite thorough rinsing. However, once my hair dried naturally, I think it was nourished and felt rather nice. Overall, a great product for its results, but I'm not impressed during the rinsing out process.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice nourishing treatment for dry hair The packaging kind of resembles that of plant food which is pretty unique. The bottom half of my hair is dry, frizzy and gets easily tangled so I’m always looking for products to help smooth the ends of my hair and make it more manageable. The product is a thick, creamy consistency, similar to most other hair masks and it’s very easy to work through the hair. I was expecting it to smell like banana lollies but to me personally, it smells a bit more like fruity cough syrup and the fragrance is pretty strong. It lingers in your hair even after it’s dry but I don’t mind the scent at all. You can use it as a conditioner, mask or leave in treatment, I prefer it as a mask. I think it’s nice and light as a mask, too heavy as a conditioner or leave in for my thin, fine hair. As a mask, it helps my hair to dry smoother, straighter and easier to brush through so I’m really happy with this product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So hydrating I have thick hair that can often feel dry and lifeless. I have tried many hydrating shampoos, conditioners and treatments and just haven't found anything I've been happy with until now. The Fructis Nourishing Banana Hair Food Shampoo, conditioner, and Nourishing Banana Hair Food. When the items arrived as i was part of a trial team, the shampoo and conditioner were the usual Fructis squeeze bottles and the Fructis Nourishing Banana Hair Food was a massive big pot. The Shampoo and Conditioner were in yellow squeeze bottles due to the Banana i suppose and they looked ok, but i think the pot of Fructis Nourishing Banana Hair Food looked a bit cheap the way it was branded. I found the scent of the items to be pretty strong when first using them but after rinsing they only left a nice lightsweet scent. I loved the fact that the Fructis Nourishing Banana Hair Food pot could be used as a treatment mask, an intense conditioner, or a leave in conditioner. I loved using it as a leave in treatment. After trialing the products i have found them to be very nourishing and hydrating and would probably continue to use these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not a must-have, but good value for money.. First of all, the size of this hair treatment is huuggeeeee! In a world where everything is getting smaller and smaller, it was a really nice surprise. Now to the nitty gritty.. the packaging is less than ideal. The design looks cheap and tacky, and I personally prefer a squeeze tube or bottle, and the tub is messy to use in the shower. I also found the smell very strong and a little overpowering, especially when using this product in the shower. In regard to performance, the treatment is so-so. I trialled it as a conditioner, hair mask, and leave-in treatment over a few weeks, and can say I'd only use it as a conditioner/hair mask from now on. As a leave-in treatment I found it made my hair look super greasy, which is surprising as I get really dry ends. As a conditioner/mask it did appear to hydrate my hair, but I cannot say it did much in the way or repair. All in all, I would say this is a nice hydrating hair mask for someone on a budget, but I would definitely recommend washing it out after use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nourishing and hydrating! I have used the Garnier Hair Food Mask twice since receiving it as part of the BeautyHeaven trial team, and I am quite happy with the product. This isn't the first Garnier conditioning product that I have used; I have used the Garnier Nutrisse Avocado Mask in the past and found that the two are quite similar, in that they nourish and hydrate the hair. The smell of the Garnier Hair Food Mask is lovely; a subtle banana scent which I liked. This product can be used three different ways; as a conditioner, mask or leave-in conditioner. I used it as a conditioner after shampooing my hair. It detangled my hair and left it soft and smooth. I would continue to use this product on a weekly basis to keep my hair hydrated (especially in the cooler months when my hair tends to get extra dry). I would like to try it out as a mask to see the benefits of it. The size of the tub is great as there is a lot of conditioner in it and not much is needed (I used about 2-3 smallish sized scoops). I would recommend this to those that want to keep their hair hydrated and shiny.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thick, Great smell, Easy to access I was so excited to try the Garnier Banana Hair Food! For the past week I have tried the hair food when after shampooing with my normal shampoo that is suited to coloured hair. Then I applied Banana Hair Food on wet hair after I had shampooed it. I loved the packaging of the product as it was so easy to access and i was able to use a generous amount to really trial the product well! The smell was incredible! I loved how silky smooth my hair felt whilst I was using it! Due to going to the gym a a lot and having my hair in a sweaty bun majority of the time, it was a great cream to use to really condition the knots out and leave in a silky way afterwards. I think the feel of the conditioner is very silky and rich in smell. I will be using this again and only use 2 times a week from now on!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smells amazing! This is such a great product and a really excellent addition to the Garnier line. I have used other Garnier conditioners and this is my favourite. The packaging is great - a big 390ml tub is perfect, and it has a really nice quality and packaging. Big enough to last, but not so big it won't fit in the shower caddy! The smell is beautiful, like real banana but not overwhelming. The product can be used three different ways. 1. As a conditioner - this is great for every time you wash your hair 2. As a leave in conditioner in the shower- great for once a week or if your hair is feeling dry 3. On dry hair - this is my favourite, it is hard to find a product that won't weigh hair down but works on frizzy fly away hair! This worked well to moisturise my ends without making my hair greasy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Innovation! Beautyheaven, thank you for sending me Garnier Banana Hair Food! When I opened the package, there were Garnier shampoo and condition with Garnier Banana Hair Food! Last night, I tried these shampoo and conditioner first. Then I applied Banana Hair Food on my damp hair. Firstly, I really liked the big size of Banana Hair Food. Secondly, I loved its smell. Real Banana???!!! I thought that this is a real banana cream. So yummy and sweet hair food. Actually I asked my sister to use these shampoo and conditioner with me and also try Garnier Banana Hair Food. She said that this Banana Hair Food is so attractive product because Garnier used real healthy food. I think the texture of this hair cream is very smooth and rich. It is quite different to other hair cream. I don't like thick cream but Garnier Banana Hair Food feels so smooth on my hair. Please try it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok… but but great It’s nice, but not amazing. My hair doesn’t really feel conditioned, and still feels a bit dry after use. I don’t think I will be buying again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Affordable, but not the best Hair Food Garnier's Hair Food series is so good and affordable that I decided to try most of them. Unfortunately, the nourishing banana is the least of my favourite. It has a very artificial banana scent, which I found way too strong and sweet. The consistency is a bit too runny, so it just drips everywhere instead of staying on my hair. I always use a generous amount of it and leave it on for approximately 5 minutes before combing my hair and then rinsing it out. Still, I find that my hair is not as easy to comb as with other conditioners and it's not as soft either. On the other hand, it's lightweight enough that I can use it as a leave-in conditioner. All in all, it'svery affordable, and it's not a bad conditioner (maybe better as a leave-in than as a rinse-out or as a mask combined with other conditioners), but I found both the Macadamia and the Papaya versions more nourishing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs better packaging I think I would have given this product another star if it was better packaged. The twist lid tub is not practical at all and the tub itself is quite large which is great value for money but it doesn’t sit well on a shelf or fit in a shower caddy. I hated this as a leave in product. It left my hair oily and heavy. But as a mask/conditioner it worked very well. I substituted it for my normal conditioner once per week and noticed the difference, particularly when blow drying! I love the smell of this, its very refreshing! I think this will be in my rotation for a while as a little goes a long, long way.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just so-so.. The size of this hair treatment is pretty decent, but the packaging is less than ideal. The design looks cheap and tacky, and I personally prefer a squeeze tube or bottle, and the tub is messy to use in the shower. I also found the smell very strong and a little overpowering, especially when using this product in the shower. In regard to performance, the treatment is just so-so. As a conditioner/mask it did appear to hydrate my hair a little, but I cannot say it did much in the way of repair. I would say this is an okay hair mask for someone on a budget, but I personally wouldn't repurchase as I think there are better value for money products available.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Smells really good. I bought this a few weeks ago and have used it a few times. I have only used it as a leave in mask. My hair is really bad with frizz and it's so fluffy and dry. I don't really find that this product makes a difference with my hair if I leave it out. If I wear it up like I do everyday then it's a lot smoother and I find there's no need for hair spray or gel. The smell is really nice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Smells great but leaves rash The banana one smells amazing and leaves my daughter's curls beautiful, but unfortunately it left a nasty rash on her shoulders and back where her hair sits. We unfortunately cant use again. But its still a decent product, maybe just not for delicate skin.
Date published: 2020-02-24
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quantity over quality I think for what this is - a very inexpensive, large tub of conditioner-it’s okay. It doesn’t perform well enough as a conditioner or leave in to perform those jobs for me, but it does make a decent moisturising mask. I used it on towel dried hair and left it in for a good hour and was pleased with the results.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Smells good, not so nourishing Bought this jar when there was half price in Woolies. It is a huge tub and there is a lot left although I have been using it for nearly 2 months. Smells really nice and applies really well. I had used it in 2 different ways, as a leave in conditioner and hair treatment. I find that it is easier to comb hair when you use it as a leave in conditioner. But with my unruly hair, I still require hair oil especially after drying my hair. Thus, I gave 3 stars rating as it is affordable and fragrant, but not enough nourishing for my hair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Smells amazing This product smells like delicious banana bread or banana candy or something. I just love it. I love the consistency of the product- nice and thick. It feels as though it is doing wonders for your hair! but unfortunately on my thick coarse hair it does not hydrate as much as I would like, especially not for a mask. It isn't bad a for normal conditioner though! I think it would work really well on those with fine-medium hair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nourishing conditioner affordable value Another lovely BH Trial team product! I was quite excited to receive this product as I have never been a great fan of garnier hair products, but they have definitely improved over the years. The first thing I noticed about this product was the very cute packaging, almost looks like a tub of yoghurt or ice cream! There’s a lot of information on the package relating to organic derivatives, which is very positive, and I found the packaging worked well with this concept. I am on opening the tub I found the product was quite thin in consistency, I would definitely like to see it a little bit thicker especially having to scoop it out of the tub can be a little bit difficult being this thin. The scent is quite nice, not too strong banana, definitely quite pleasant and overbearing. I always applied this product after shampooing my hair, and tried to leave it in for as long as possible while I showered. I definitely noticed nourishment after each use, I’m going to begin using this in my hair overnight for a few hours, like a mask to see what are the benefits I can gain. I also like the fact that you can use some of this product after your shower as a leave in conditioner, without it weighing the hair down or feeling oily at all. I did find I kept referring to this product as a Treatment, instead of a conditioning mask as I did feel that it had quite a nice feeling to the hair afterwards. Overall quite a good conditioning product, and very affordable for most people I would imagine. I would just like to see it a bit thicker consistency that’s the only thing I would change really. After even a short time using this mask my hair is definitely feeling quite supple and not so dry

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needed to supplement with hair oils for my dry hair I received this product as part of a Trial Team, along with the complementary Garner Fructis Nutri-Repair 3 shampoo and conditioner. Per the instructions, it is recommended to use the hair mask with the products from the Nutri-Repair 3 range, hence for best results, I used both as part of the trial. The Banana Hair Food is packaged in a HUGE 390ml white tub with a bright yellow lid. The Banana Hair Food is targeted for dry hair. It is of 98% natural origin formula with the remaining 2% guaranteeing "efficacy and preservation". There are no silicones, parabens and artificial colourants. The smell is a very strong sweet fruity banana scent, somewhat artificially sweet as there is parfum/fragrance listed in the ingredients which must be part of the "2%". The mask itself is white and quite runny and gloopy inside. The Banana Hair Food can be used in 3 ways: (1) a conditioner - apply after shampoo and rinse; (2) mask - apply after shampoo and conditioner and leave for 1 min before rinsing; and (3) leave-in - apply 10 cent amount focusing on mid-lengths and ends. Due to the packaging, I only ever used this as a leave-in conditioner as there was no way I could use this in the shower without the tub filling up with water due to the large opening of the tub. For this reason, I did not like the packaging, it would have been better in a squeeze tube especially given the runny consistency of the hair food. I have used this for over a week, nearly two weeks and usually wash my hair every second day. After shampooing and conditioning my hair with the Garner Nutri-Repair 3 range, I apply a good size dollop to my towel-dried hair. Using my fingers I spread this from the mid-lengths of my hair to the ends. I have hair down past my shoulders. I loved the smell of this hair mask, it made my hair smell so lush! It didn't do too much in terms of adding hydration to my hair but it didn't leave my hair frizzy and dry. My hair was not as soft as it was if I was using hair oils so for my hair type it didn't do enough in terms of providing nourishment to my hair, however it didn't make it any worse off. I have thick straight hair which is not coloured however it is prone to dryness especially in the winter cold. I did like that it did not add any weight to my hair possible due to it being silicone-free. When used in combination with hair oils, it left my hair soft and bouncy and without added residue. Overall, I would recommend however depending on how dry your hair may be, it may need to be supplemented with other hair oils or leave-in treatments. I would still try the other masks in the range, perhaps the Macadamia Hair Food.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I don’t think this product suited my hair type The tub was huge when it arrived! So many products these days are quite small but you certainly get value for money with this tub! I like the size & shape of the bottles of shampoo & conditioner that came with it. I have hair that gets quite oily after a couple of days st the scalp but gets quite dry on the ends. I thought this product would be perfect to give my hair some moisture. Instead of this it made my hair feel quite greasy. It had a very strong smell & also left a residue feeling on my hair. I don’t like any health or beauty products with a really strong smell either & I found this one quite strong. I did try it again after afew days with less product as I thought perhaps I had used too much or you didn’t need to use very much. But I still had the same effect. I just dummies this probably wasn’t suited for my hair type.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Left my hair dry I thought I would try this product as I know how wonderful Garnier are at their product smells and blends. I have dry hair and when I saw these lined up at my local Coles at a lower price point I grabbed one. Nourishing banana sounded like it would be great for my hair. Unfortunately it did not nourish my dry hair ( dyed blonde for years now so quite dry ) it actually made it feel dry and tangled. I was looking forward to a mask to replenish so nutrients into my hair. The smell is amazing and I definitely feel it wasn’t too much. The packaging was a nice big tub however hard to navigate in the shower. I wouldn’t but this particular blend again but would be willing to maybe try a different mix.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not very conditioning You get a whole lot of product in this tub and it smells amazing, but it doesn't actually do much conditioning. It is supposed to be a conditioner, hair mask and leave in conditioner, but it did not condition my hair much at all, even as a mask. After I washed it out, I was left with knotty, but nice smelling hair that would become frizzier than normal when it dried. I also had to use a lot of the product for it to feel like I was even applying anything to my hair, so while you get a lot of product in the tub, you have to use more of it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gave me an allergic reaction Smells good, not bad for my hair, but on my neck I came out in a red itchy rash. Not sure what on the ingredients list would have made this happen, in my life I've only known to be allergic to a couple things, none of which are on the list. I tried using it twice in case it was not the conditioner, first time was in the shower, second time I used dry as a leave in conditioner but both times I got a rash. Can recommend for hair but beware of how it reacts to your scalp/skin.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did not work for my dry hair My hair is very dry and prone to tangles. I recently used a conditioner that left my hair feeling more dry and knotty. I tried the Nourishing Banana Hair Food to hopefully alleviate the results of the conditioner. Nourishing Banana Hair Food is packaged in an opaque plastic tub. When I opened the tub, I was surprised that there was not a seal to protect the tub’s contents. The product has a medium to thick consistency and a pleasant banana scent, although the scent has a subtle artificial quality. The product was easy to apply to my hair. After I had rinsed the product out, my hair felt softer but it also felt more knotty than usual. I used a detangling brush to remove the knots, and it took quite a while to remove them. When I woke up the next morning, my hair felt just the same as it did before I used the mask. I needed to use a leave-in product to make my hair feel more manageable. After my disappointing results, I never used the product again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Smells heavenly I really wanted to fall in love with this product because the scent is absolutely heavenly however, this treatment didn't work for me. I have used the Garnier Banana Hair Food as a regular conditioner and a hair mask and I found it didn't do much in terms of moisturizing my hair. For reference, I have coloured hair with dry ends but oily roots. On the plus side, I found that even when I did apply the product to my roots, it didn't make them any oiler and it didn't compromise on volume or weigh my hair down. My hair felt a little bit softer the next day. The treatment isn't as thick as other similar hair treatments I have used and is a little bit runny. As I mentioned, the scent is really yummy although I found it didn't really linger once my hair was dried. The tub is too large and it's not the most practical to have in the shower. Products packaged in flip top lids are the best ;) Sadly the Garnier Hair Banana Food didn't work for me and I wouldn't recommend if you were after a deep moisturizing treatment. It would be great for kids though because of the fun scent!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DONT BUY I used this hair product for months. It made my hair soft and shiny and i loved it. When I went to get my hair dyed again as a blond it reacted with the colour product and my hair started breaking off. This product creates a film on the hair to make it soft and shiny but doesn’t actually repair. Very disappointing and my stylist was shocked.
