Directions

1: Mix• Put on the expert colourist gloves provided.• Place plastic mixing tray on flat, stable surface where it won't tip over.• Unscrew the cap from the colour activating lotion (2) bottle.• Empty contents of colour activating lotion (2) bottle into mixing tray.• Unscrew the cap of Permanent Colour Crème (1) tube (previously opened for allergy test - see reverse side of instructions)• Empty contents of permanent Colour Crème (1) tube into mixing tray.• Using the applicator brush, thoroughly mix contents of tray until the colour is completely blended.2: Apply• Gently brush or comb your hair into your preferred style.• Using the applicator brush, apply colour to your most visible roots at the hairline around the face, part and temples.• Make sure you saturate your most visible roots with colour. Don't worry if the colour of the mixture on your hair looks different from your desired colour - when its dry, your colour will be beautiful.• If any colour gets on your skin, wipe it off immediately with a damp towel. Countdown to No Roots• Once you're done applying the colour, leave it on for 10 minutes or the time indicated by your strand test.• Pour any unused colour mixture down the drain. Once mixed, it will lose its effectiveness after an hour.• Tip: if your greys are really stubborn, it may be necessary to leave colour on for up to 15 minutes. 3: Rinse & Go• Rinse hair with warm water until the water runs clear and style as usual. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quite Impressed [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Clairol Root touch-up I chose was Light Brown (6) it has covered my grey roots. I found it extremely easy to empty the contents of the tube and the bottle into the provided bowl and to thoroughly mix until it was all completely blended. I also found that it was easy to apply the colour to my visible roots with the brush. I made sure to saturate those roots with the colour left it on for 10 minutes and then rinsed it off. This is the first time that I have tried to cover the grey roots myself and I am so far very pleased with the results. I will have no hesitation in colouring my grey roots in the future as it is a perfect way to extend the time between having a full hair colour at my hairdressers. The applicator makes the process fuss free as the dye gets evenly distributed on the hair without the usual big staining of my hands . The amount was also more than sufficient as I not only applied on my greys but almost the entire of my bob style. Excellent for people who want to cover their greys in a flash.

I was slightly skeptical of the time guidelines, but let me tell you, this product does not disappoint. Quick, easy and efficient, colour was a beautiful blonde shade. No mess, no fuss and most importantly it didnt waste half of my day. I had never thought to try such a profduct before but this may now be my go to product in between full hair dyes. It smells typical of your normal hair dyes but doesnt react badly to my dry scalp. Would purchase.

I was impressed that the universal shades are designed to match various hair colour brands. Therefore the Dark Brown shade I tried did match my previously coloured hair well. The root touch up kit contains a precise application brush that lets you apply the hair colour directly to roots. It has a creme formula so there’s no dripping or red, irritated eyes! The hair colour does work in 10 minutes and after rinsing, I was so pleased that majority of my grey hairs were gone! I think this is a must-have product for a quick and hassle-free way to cover grey hairs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great to extend salon visits to hide pesky greys [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I normally struggle to use home dye kits and rely on my hairdresser to do a full head of foils nearly every visit to try and cover my increasing greys. This is not only expensive, but extremely time consuming. The root touch up is perfect for in between colour sessions as it is inexpensive, super easy to apply and actually covers all the greys - which foils can miss. There is no nasty smell when colouring or after either. I would highly recommend this to anyone with greys that might not be able to get to the salon as regularly as their greys seem to think they need to.

The time it saves is so good especially when you don’t have the time or the money to visit a hairdresser. Excellent coverage and also super easy to apply. Blended well and really took no time at all. There was a good amount of product so I was able to really get a good amount where it was needed! Another thing I liked as well was that it didn’t have a strong smell like others I have used in the past. All of these reasons would make me want to use it again and so highly recommend this to anyone.

I used different brand and so far haven’t been satisfied with the result. Clairol root touch up was so easy to use, didn’t leave unnecessary mess and the most important thing was , it really cover my white hairs that start growing around my face. It has been almost 2 wks now since the first application and still stay put. Love it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have very white/grey hair so my roots come through looking very visible very quickly. This is a fantastic option that is quick and effective and covers those pesky noticeable greys without a load of fuss or a great mess! Very easy to use just having to mix the colour and the developer in the little pot provided. Pop on the gloves and grab the brush (also both provided) and you have everything you need. Once applied to the most noticeable hairs like on the hairline and part it takes only 10 minutes to take effect before you can simply wash it off in the shower. The colour blends in nicely with the remainder of my hair and looks very natural. One word of advice though - make sure you put some moisturiser or vaseline on your forehead or remove any product overspill as soon as possible as it does stain the skin quite quickly and is difficult to remove. If you have hair like mine that grows quite quickly and you need to cover up those grey/white hairs sooner than later after your colour, then this product is definitely for you!

I found this product very easy to use and I was able to extend the time between hair appointments. The brush that it comes with makes it simple to mix and apply. I did have to leave it on for a bit longer though (about 20mins) but I am happy with the result overall.

The process was very easy, with everything provided in the box, even a little tray for mixing. I especially liked the applicator brush, so that I could target specific areas easily. As I have quite fine hair, I found the colour and activator tubes to be ample product for me. As far as results, it certainly covered my regrowth. It is perfect to use in between full head colouring. I will certainly purchase in the future.

Given the working from situation we find ourselves in I thought this would be perfect for my part and hairline around my face. Even though I usually blend two colours I found this worked a treat. Enough product to do everywhere I needed it and it will give me at least a couple more weeks before I do a full colour. My hair grows extremely quickly so I think this is a great alternative to doing a full colour so often. I will repurchase again

I have dark brown hair so trialed Dark Brown 4. I have those stubborn greys which appear two weeks after using a semi permanent, as a patch on the forehead hairline and side hairlines beat the ears. The root touch-up helps to maintain that coverage as a top up and helps to reduce the regular hair dye jobs. Was simple to use with the brush applicator and easily blended in. I would highly recommend to those with darker hair as the colour took well and coverage lasted for quite some time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I chose the Medium Brown (5) to cover the regrowth on my thick hair and the outcome was quite pleasing. Unlike products I've tried in the past, this kit was not chemically overpowering, and the application was easy and not messy. The colour blended well with my current hair colour, although I will try a lighter brown shade next time, and my hair felt good afterwards. I’m not sure if the Clairol Root Touch-Up Permanent Crème will become a regular alternative to the colour achieved by my hairdresser, I will see how the touch up colour looks in a week or two, but when the kit is about a 10th of the cost of visiting my salon it’s something I’m sure going to consider! It’s fab to know this kit will do the job when I’m unable to visit the hairdresser. Thanks Beauty Crew for the opportunity to try this product.

Medium brown colour blended well with my current shade and would use again and recommend to anyone needing to cover greys regularly between salon visits or home colour. Small criticism, the product "squidges" through to the other side of the brush so you have to keep turning it over to get the product where you want it.

I have been a fan of this product for a while, but find the colours tend to be a little darker than expected on my hair so opted for a lighter shade. It’s so easy to use. The applicator Brush makes it so easy to get the right amount on your roots (or greys) and to fade out into your normal colour. The shades, in my experience, do blend well with most colours, but just be aware that the browns are really brown, so if you are on the lighter side or have a lot of highlights you may be better with a blonde, even if you think it will be too light. This is perfect for extending out the time between whole head colours or when you are stuck at home. The scent is fairly standard hair dye smell, it’s not offensive or strong.

I was sent this to trial and it was my first time using a kit like this. Instructions were easy to follow, just mix the tube and developer cream and apply with the cute little applicator brush. For me personally, with long thick hair, I found that I only just had enough product. I have a narrow strip of 20% grey only through my part line. If you had a thick line of grey, or lots of grey around the face too then you'd need 2 packs. Claims to last three weeks and 100% grey coverage. I can't attest to the longevity as I haven't had it that long but it definitely covered my greys. I found the applicator brush was quite sturdy and made it easy to target the hairs. The reason I deducted a star was I think the kit is a little wasteful. The mixing bowl and brush are decent quality and very sturdy yet designed to be thrown out. I would have much prefered to buy a kit like this initially then just buy the tube and developer at a discount than buying and tossing a kit every 3 weeks and wasting resources.

It was very easy and straight forward to use. It blended well and covered my problem area... My greys. The included brush and bowl is great and very handy. I would definitely recommend this for regrowth and grey coverage. My regrowth was 2 inches and there was plenty of dye to cover.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Covered my regrowth in 15mins [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I selected shade 8 Medium Blonde to cover my 2 inch regrowth. I found the process very easy and no where near as messy as a hair dye. The pack contains all you need and even has a little mixing container where you mix the colour and developer. The brush supplied was ok but I found my fingers to be just as good at applying the product. I left the product on for an extra 5mins as suggested on the information sheet as I wanted to make sure that all stubborn greys were covered. Once the product had been on my hair for 15mins I rinsed it out and conditioned as suggested. It would be great if there had been a little bottle of conditioner supplied but as there wasnt I used the conditioner I had in the shower. Once I had blow dryed my hair I found that those pesky greys were still showing through but being blonde other people cant see them as easily as I can. Overall I was pleased with this product as it did cover up my regrowth so my hair does look much better but those greys are proving to be a challenge.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent grey coverage [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have naturally coarse brown-black hair with stubborn greys, and I usually colour it with a medium brown shade which makes it dark brown. This trial came around at the right time as my roots were showing quite badly, and I had been considering using touch-up products instead of doing my whole head of hair (which is thick and long and a hassle especially in winter). I did a 48 hour patch test with my selected shade 'Dark Brown', and I had no reactions. The box comes with a colour tube, an activator, a brush and a plastic tray. You combine the colour and activator creams in the plastic tray and mix it with the brush, then use the brush to apply to areas where the regrowth is obvious - along the part, the crown, and the visible hairline. The application process was very easy with the supplied brush, and the product had a pleasant smell despite containing ammonia. Given my stubborn hair, I left it on for a total of 15 minutes once I finished application, as recommended by the instructions. It was then rinsed off (without shampoo) and conditioned with my usual conditioner (optional, according to instructions). After rinsing off an drying my hair, I was very pleased to find that my greys had been covered and the colour looked very natural. I could've gone a shade lighter to match the rest of my coloured hair perfectly, but it's not a bad match. It has been 8 days since I've applied the product, and I've since washed my hair 4 times. I'm pleased to report that the colour has remained the same. The box says it will last up to 3 weeks, but the trial period is much shorter, so I am not able to say with absolute certainty that it will last that long - so far it looks promising, as I have not noticed any colour fade after 4 washes. Overall I am very happy with the ease of application and the grey coverage. If there is any criticism I have, is that I think Clairol could include a bit more colour and activator product per box. One box is really only enough for the obvious areas of regrowth, and it would be good to be able to go over the roots of most of your scalp . Given that there is quite a bit of packaging and plastic involved (the brush, gloves, tray etc) per box, I personally would not be comfortable buying two boxes and throwing more packaging/tools into landfill.

I have long, thick, porous hair and would need at least 2 boxes for proper coverage. The product mixed easily and was quite simple to apply. Upon checking the uptake of product to my hair, I found I needed to leave it on much longer than stated on the instructions, however this is typical of all box dyes for me. Once rinsed and dried, I still found the odd grey hair so grey coverage was not 100% for me. I think this product is acceptable if you're in dire need but cannot get to the salon as it will get you through.

This hair dye is quite useful for root touch-ups but didn't blend well. My hair is dark brown which i asked for but much lighter than my actual colour. My hair is very thick so probably would've been better with 2 packs The brush applicator it comes with makes applying the dye very easy. Whenever I need to retouch also it is is gentle and not damaging to my hair. Overall I would say for someone with short hair this product would be fine but longer thicker hair not so good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Clairol Root Touch Up [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I followed the instructions which were easy. I found the brush awkward to use as it was curved and it didn’t pick up much product. It didn’t take too long to apply as my greys aren’t too bad (yet) so I had more than enough product. I left it on for 15 minutes instead of 10 minutes just to make sure that it covered. The colour I used was dark brown which was perfect for my hair colour. I noticed that I missed a few hairs but I think that might be due to the difficulty I had with the brush. The box said that it would last 3 weeks but I found that my regrowth started to show after 2 weeks which is what usually happens when I colour my roots. Overall it’s not a bad product but I think I’ll stick to my regular product.
