Common Uses

Eight Hour® Cream Skin Protectant is the legendary skincare formula created in 1930 by Miss Arden to soothe and protect skin. An instant, overwhelming success, the Eight Hour® brand continues its legacy today. Celebrated by makeup artists and beauty influencers around the globe, its wonderful versatility and proven results have elevated it to “cult status” in the beauty industry.
DID YOU KNOW?
The name Eight Hour® was coined by a devoted Elizabeth Arden client who used the cream on her child’s grazed knee, and ”eight hours later”, it was magically better.

Ingredients

Eight Hour Cream's apricot colored balm is so effective due to its combination of petrolatum, a skin-soothing beta-hydroxy and vitamin E. This remarkable protectant promotes healthy looking skin and seals in moisture. Petrolatum: A universally acknowledged intensive moisturizer that also soothes and protects the skin. Salicylic Acid: A beta hydroxy acid pioneered by Elizabeth Arden over seventy years ago. It gently exfoliates to encourage smoother skin. Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate): Acts as an antioxidant to help protect the skin from free-radical damage. It is easily absorbed by the skin and has soothing properties. Active Ingredient: (Each gram contains) Petrolatum 568 Mg (Skin Protectant) Inactive Ingredients: Lanolin, Mineral Oil, Tocopherol, BHT, Salicylic Acid, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Vegetable Oil, Zea Mays (Corn) Oil, Fragrance, Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool, Propylparaben, Iron Oxides

Directions

8 WAYS TO USE EIGHT HOUR®
Apply head-to-toe to seal in moisture and experience hours of hydrated, healthy-looking skin with each use.
1 .AT FACE VALUE: Simply rub a dime-sized amount in the palms of hands to warm through, then pat onto the face to seal in moisture.
2. COMES IN HANDY: Deeply condition by working the formula into palms and over the fingers, then wrapping each hand for 10 minutes in a warm towel.
3. HEEL-TO-TOE HEALING: Relieve weary feet by massaging the cream generously onto soles, pads and heels, then topping with cotton socks for deeper moisturisation to heal dry skin.
4. A FLASH OF BRILLIANCE: Create instant radiance wherever skin normally catches the light, including legs, shoulders, collarbone, cheeks and bow of the lips.
5. LAVISH THE LIPS: With its effective moisturising ingredients, this do-it-all wonder perfectly re-hydrates chapped lips.
6. THE MANE BENEFITS: In addition to its properties as a “skin savior,” the cream’s petrolatum and natural lanolin help smooth strands and moisturise dry ends.
7 FROST SMITTEN: It can be smoothed onto skin as protection from windburn, particularly when adventuring outdoors.
8 KEEPING IT HIGH-BROW: Run the tiniest amount through eyebrows to groom hairs, helping neaten and define the arch.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cult classic This is a classic for a reason - it really is a nice ointment & apparently will reduce the healing time of a burn rather rapidly. I know older ladies who slather their faces in this, but quite simply it's like a poshed up version of vaseline, so there's no way my (oily) skin could handle that! I was using it on my lips / nails etc until i realised I was using a rather expensive product to do the job that vaseline can do, so i stopped, so as not to waste it, & now unsure as to what to use it for otherwise ha! It's in a tube & comes in different sizes which is handy, but otherwise I'll be sticking with the vaseline for a much more ecconomical price ;)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Don't like the smell [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I know everyone's raving about this product, yes, it's rich and ultra moisturising and multipurpose but has anyone noticed it has a rather strong, unpleasant smell?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dissatisfied I read about this skin cream for dry skin but after buying it I was very disappointed as it does not rub into the skin and it is very greasy so I will not be purchasing again .

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not really a cream Thank you BH for this mask, I received this as part of the recent Rewards Room and was so excited to try it. I had read such great reviews of this product and have used this brand for years so though I will give this a go. It's a versatile product but it is way to super thick for my liking and I would definitely not be calling it a cream, it's more of a balm / Vaseline feel. I felt I was using a colored Vaseline in a tube with the Elisabeth Arden branding. Really disappointed with this product. Tried different amounts of the product and found it way to sticky and it just does not absorb it just sits on your skin. It felt greasy and oily and I had to remove it and even that was such an effort to get it off my skin. Complete waste of money I would say there are lot of other products in the market that was more natural and do a better job.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Overpriced and way too thick [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had this product many years ago and it was because my friend used to rave about how good it was and how she would use it for her dry lips and hands. It's a versatile product and the product is super thick but I wouldn't call it a cream, it's more of a thick salve or balm. Nevertheless, I found it to be mediocre and rather expensive considering the ingredient list. I realised that it contained petroleum and that it was no different to other products that contain petroleum. For me, those products don't hydrate but rather just create a barrier for the skin. I would've liked to have seen a more natural ingredient list, one where it would actually hydrate my skin or dry patches. I also did not like how greasy it felt. It would just sit on top of my skin and it wouldn't even absorb, making my skin feel oily which I couldn't stand.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Expensive Vaseline Has anyone checked the ingredient list? This product is 58% vaseline, that is almost 2 thirds of the entire tube. The next highest ingredient is lanolin then fragrance mineral oil, castor oil and vitamin E with a weeny bit of salicylic acid to top it off. I have used this product and it is ok but I would rather spend my money on something that didn't cost all of about $3 for ingredients!!! It does not represent good value for money and I have found other products that do the same job for a lot less money. I gave it a 2 because even though it is expensive for what it is, it actually does work as a good basic emollient for your skin.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A NO for me This is literally a balm that makes your hands look very greasy. It will be nice if it can be returned after one used.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Expensive vaseline This product contains petroleum as its main ingredient- a cheap by product of petrol! Yes it creates a barrier but suffocates the skin and pores. There are so many other quality and well researched products on the market now that dont be fooled by the gimick that this prduct is a miracle!. As products evolve so should the brand. No wonder Elizabeth arden makes a profit. Selling cheap crap in fancy jars.. This should of been discontinued years ago. Especially that we now know petroleum is an ineffective skin product!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for me [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received in a GWP. Elizabeth Arden, legendary luxe beauty brand, so I was confused by this stuff, it's more of a first aid product. The smell is intense and medical, I read that it's not actually a face cream, more of a treatment for dry skin, burns, grazes, that kind of thing. I have had a recent breakout of eczema under my eyes, so I applied it there. Went on ok but the smell was too much for me and it just felt greasy and sat on my skin. The colour and texture is unappealing, very thick and orangey/yellow, the smell is very medical. It didn't really do anything and I didn't like it, at all. Not for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So bad [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've watched many YouTube "gurus" rave about this product, and many more articles recommending the 8 hour cream, and quite frankly cannot see the appeal of the "all-rounder". The smell is so vile. It isn't a cream at all. It certainly doesn't last eight hours on hands/ lips/cuticles etc.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Overbearing scent, expensive. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I honestly really wanted to like this product after reading so many reviews raving about it. I'm sure that it does do an amazing job of moisturizing whatever you want it to does serve the whole range of functions it is meant to. But I find the scent absolutely unbearable - I spot tested it on the back of my hand when I first received it and I couldn't handle it. I can't possibly imagine putting this anywhere near your face, let alone your lips. The word "cream" is also very misleading, the texture isn't cream-like. It is more of an ointment. I prefer Vaseline or PawPaw ointment - those two are essentially "all cure" creams/ointments that don't have a terrible scent. Please be wary that if you're sensitive to smells to avoid this! I don't believe I am particularly, but my nose really does not agree with this, and other Internet reviewers feel the same. It is also expensive compared to the alternatives Vaseline or pawpaw. A friend of mine agreed that the scent took "getting used to" - I'll pass thanks, and stick to something I don't have to put effort into liking!
