General Information

Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Face Dry-Touch Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 for sensitive skin is hypoallergenic and up to 2 hours water resistant. The mineral based face sunscreen contains zinc oxide for physical broad spectrum sun protection.

Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Face Dry-touch Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 is a mineral based sunscreen that provides high broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection whilst being gentle on skin. With Purescreen zinc oxide, it filters out harmful UVA and UVB rays from skin. Suitable for daily protection and use on the face, it contains vitamin E, a skin daily conditioning anti-oxidant and leaves an invisible matte finish on skin.

Warnings

Warnings: Do not use on damaged or broken skin. Avoid contact with eyes. May be irriating to eyes. If product gets into eyes rinse thoroughly with water. For external use only. Discontinue use and see a doctor if signs of irritation or rash appear. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poisons Information Centre right away. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Wear protective clothing, hats and eyewear when exposed to the sun. Do not use if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

Directions

Directions: Apply liberally to all exposed areas 15 to 20 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply frequently (at least every 2 hours) and immediately after swimming, excessive perspiration, towelling, or prolonged sun exposure.

But on that note it is very thick and hard to apply, smoothing it over your face is a lot of dragging of the skin. There was no greasy feel or residue once washed off. Great product for all day protection just a little testing to apply.

I found the texture not too heavy or greasy, however it does leave a slight white residue on my skin that's a bit difficult to blend in. However overall it provides good UV protection and doesn't leave my skin red or irritated, and think it would be good for sensitive skin.

And cleansing afterwards might be hard because its a very strong waterproof sunscreen!

However on growing up avoided it as the skin toned shades were always too whitening. Unfortunately this sheer zinc lotion is the same, it does dry clear, but it takes a while, not ideal for someone always in a rush. I would highly recommend this to my lighter skin toned friends, but for anyone with light olive+ or redness in their skin tone, probably not. It does feel like a light zinc cream, but the feeling goes away as it dries. No fragrance also makes it great to wear for anyone sensitive to perfumes in skin care products. Overall a good zinc sun lotion, but be prepared to look like you are wearing zinc cream at first.

I was impressed with the SPF factor of 50 and would certainly trust the product to protect my skin. I like the fact it's based on zinc. It's still very slightly shiny on the skin but not greasy. The downside was that even though the cream mostly blends into the skin, it leaves a sheer white film, so it's not quite invisible as claimed. I never wear foundation but feel I'd need to use it when this is on my face. This product in skin tone would be my preference.

Unfortunately I don't like the the smell of the lotion, so I probably won't use it everyday, however I'm happy to use it on days that I might be sun baking. I believe I would need to buy a very large bottle of the product so I would hope the price would be discounted for larger purchases

I thought it would be a bit thinner since it is for the face but it has the same consistency as normal body sunscreen. It also left my face a paler shade. It isn't too oily which is good and there was no fragrance. I probably wouldn't use this for everyday use but maybe when I would be getting a lot of sun, for eg. the beach.
