General Information

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide 60 Capsules
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pricey hype only [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had used these in my twenties and people gave the feedback that it must have worked wonders on my face. Although peels might have been responsible. Now in my forties and, no amount of the expensive and wasteful product will get rid of fine lines. Sure the skin can feel smoother like any other products on the market can do for my skin at a much cheaper and less wasteful cost.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very hydrating serum but terrible packaging [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a sample of these capsules in Beautorium. At first glance they appeared very luxe and cute, and I couldn't wait to try them. However I was soon very disappointed with the packaging. The serum comes in these little capsules which you're instructed to "twist off the end to open". I found this very difficult, messy, and the capsule contained waaaay too much product for my oily-combo skin type. In fact the contents of one capsule were more than enough for 2 uses for me. I ended up having to poke a small hole with a needle in the end of the capsule and very gently squeeze out the contents - just enough for one use onto my fingers and apply to my face. The rest of the opened capsule I saved in a little ziploc bag for the next day's use. A total waste of product. I wish the serum just came in a normal container which allowed you to dispense the correct amount. It made my skin feel very hydrated - but also kinda oily, like a mix of serum and skin oil. Because it was so hydrating I could skip my moisturiser. It prepped and primed my skin for makeup application quite well; I just had to make sure not to over apply it or my makeup would slide off. I'm still undecided about this product. I didn't really notice any anti-aging effects from it apart from hydration but I'll keep on using it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hydrating, but at a cost [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received these capsules as part of my Beautorium bundle and was intrigued to say the least. I have to say, it is a really high quality product and the serum definitely added some serious hydration to my skin. Each portion is generous and feels quite luxurious on the skin, leaving it softer after just a few days of use. However, like many other beauties, I the packaging. The little capsules really are unnecessary waste in landfill. I understand the concept/gimmick but it means you can't choose how much product you want and i often felt it was too much.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rich Serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the capsules as a sample in the recent Beautorium. I anticipated a dramatic effect on my skin, having heard much hype, but I didn't find the product any more useful than any of the current facial oils/serums that I'm using. I liked the rich texture and felt that it penetrated the skin quite well. It was too heavy for daytime use for me. There was no discernible difference in my case and certainly not to justify the price. I would imagine that it would particularly benefit those who suffer from dry/dehydrated skin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Soft and smooth but not sure what else it does? [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was lucky enough to receive a generous sample of this product as part of my beautorium purchase. I finished the sample and noticed these things: -the size of the pods is really good - enough for full face and neck -the smell is nice - the pods are cute and opening them is fun but they can leak a bit - my skin did feel very smooth afterwards I am not sure if the pods are biodegradable, that is something i struggle with for this product. i would prefer if the serum came in a pump.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the Results, Hate the Packaging [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was lucky enough to receive a 7 day supply of Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum in my recent Beautorium haul. The serum comes packaged in beautiful gold single plastic capsules, which made me feel very bad given the problems we are having with plastic pollution. I love the idea of single use capsules as it prevents contamination and makes travelling easy, however I felt there was too much serum in each capsule as a single use was enough for my face, neck and décolletage. For the first 3 days I found the serum took a while to absorb, however then my skin started absorbing it far more rapidly and it didn't go as far. I was really surprised I didn't break out as I often do if a treatment is too rich. Results Lovely, my skin looks and feels awesome.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really gives good glow but how cost effective? [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The frugal in me has always shied from buying these sort of single dose products as I feel they can be wasteful and you cant stretch as far. These proved case in point. I lost a lot of formula twisting the capsule to break it. I finessed my approach but definitely still kept spilling some . Also there is plenty of serum in each capsule but dont feel you could save 1/2 and reuse later as it is quite fluid so spills out. Hated the texture on first try felt very very oily and almost silicone slippy and like it would never absorb. Sure enough it does absorb very well after about 1 minute and it really does impart a juicy, plump hydrated glow instantly. That fresh looking skin feeling grew on me and I was slowly converting. Alas just a 2 week trial vial so cant comment further on progress

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a fan of the packaging [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently got a sample of this from beautorium and was interested to give it a try, given the unique packaging and quality of the product. The product instead is generous portions in each capsule and is quite luxious. In 7 days I did notice my skin was softer and smoother. But I never really got over my dislike of the packaging. The little capsules are just unnecessary waste in landfill that don't really have a real purpose and doesnt allow you do choose how much product you need, which for me meant waste. Given the cost of this product, having to waste so much and great extra waste in the process didn't sit right with me

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautorium review - 'So-so' [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After receiving my Beautorium packages, I was ecstatic to see these golden capsules were included as a bonus in a sample size. First of all the packaging is adorable. The little vials of golden drops looked almost like a magical potion you'd expect to find on a wizards table. So I was really hoping what was inside could cast a magic spell on my dry, dull, ageing skin. With the first capsule, I was surprised with how much product was inside. Then even more surprised with the consistency of the serum. It's almost like a serum/oil which glided all over my face and neck so easily. After the first time, I used half a capsule in the morning and half at night time. While I saw no instant results or nothing out of this world, it did keep my skin extra moisterised with that added step in my skin routine. However I won't be rushing out to purchase this product, although I was excited with the opportunity to sample it. The product has no scent and is clear.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Serum but need better packaging [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In the latest (April) Beautorium I received a tube sample of 7 capsules to try. The serum itself works pretty well. I found it moisturizing on my skin and I think it did plump up my skin. It was OK at absorbing into my skin, some parts absorbed better than others and it did take a lot longer than my usual serum. I found the packaging very fiddly and quite wasteful. Your supposed to simply just twist the top and squeeze the serum onto your hands however the serum just goes everywhere and it is a little difficult to just twist the top off, your better off just snipping the top of with some scissors or even nail clippers. One capsule contains a lot more product than you actually need and is enough for you and your partner. A lot of product is wasted and it is better if they just used a pump bottle or a bottle with a dropper where you have control over how much you use. The capsules do leave your skin feeling nice but they are very expensive and don't do anything more than the serum I'm currently using.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Way too expensive [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used a sample of these received with my beautorium order and they immediently looked like a waste of plastic, is it really necessary to put them in individual packaging? I used one and it was too much product so the next time I used half which I found to be a better amount. I love facial oils but I have found many cheaper ones that do the exact same job such as rose hip oil by trilogy and essano.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from GREAT PROUDOCT NOT SURE ABOUT THE PRICE THOUGH [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a sample packet of Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum with my last Beautorium order . I used one cap to cover my face. Each capsule easily snapped open, but the serum released very fast so you have to be careful when opening it .My skin felt most after using so I did not use a moisturizer after use as I felt that my skin was felt hydrated after use . I love that the capsules have the prescribed amount in them so there is no waist . I don't think that I would buy this though as I use a more cost effect product that suits my budget Thank you though for sending this nice surprise though as I did enjoy using it

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hydrating, effective but awkward packaging [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been trying this product from a sample received from Beautorium for around a week and I’ve found that the product is quite effective at hydrating the skin. I haven’t had any dry patches and my skin feels good. I’m not at all fond of the heavy packaging though. I’m a clumsy person (others probably won’t mind as much as I did) and opening those tiny capsules is a pain - I kept dropping it - once on the floor where some product leaked out - it’s mega-expensive so not something you want to waste! Once the capsule was open it wasn’t able to be resealed so I had to throw out any product unused and I didn’t use the whole capsule because it doesn’t absorb quickly (took at least 10 minutes) and so didn’t need much to cover my whole face and neck. I doubt the packaging is recyclable so very ecologically unsound! I also found my skin got a bit itchy after using it - by the end of the week my eyes were also a little bit irritated. It wasn’t major - just a little irritation, but still enough to cause me to rub the eyes more than I should - I did use it on the under-eye and corner of the eye area so best to avoid (which means you don’t reach the most in-need-of-serum wrinkles). That said, the areas where I was able to use it were left very soft (probably softer than it has every been) hydrated and I think firmer - this is an effective anti-aging product. I also like that there is no scent. That said, I’ve used other products that are less expensive and better absorbed and that don’t leave me itching all over my face, so in light of the awkward, ecologically unsound packaging I don’t think I can recommend these.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quirky packaging [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a sample of these capsules with my Beautorium order and after testing them out since this is a nice hyrdating oil-like serum. The individual capsule packaging first off is very different and definitely intrigued me. You simply twist the tab to open and they're filled with a lot of product, one is enough for 2 applications so the amount you get is essentially doubled. These are fragrance and preservative free. I have sensitive, acne-prone, combination-oily skin so I always opt for fragrance-free products. I am big on antioxidants in my skincare and these do in fact have antioxidant vitamin A as well as vitamin E, add to that cell-communicating ingredients and ceramides. Definitely packed with great ingredients. On application this a very emollient heavier serum as I believe it does contain oils so it is very hydrating. I wouldn't dare wear this in the daytime under make-up as my skin is on the oilier side of things however at night I do enjoy using heavier products to hydrate my more combination areas. After using this for a couple weeks I have noticed that my skin is nicely hydrated however I have other products that are more reasonably priced that do essentially the same thing and contain more product. For this reason I don't think that I would go out of my way to purchase these myself however if you want to spoil yourself and are into the quirky packaging I would recommend these for a hydrating night time serum to add to your skin care routine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 2017 Beautorium [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was lucky enough to get a 7 day sample of the serum in the Beautorium. It's a small capsule with serum inside it and all you have to do is twist it open. I initially thought the serum wasn't going to be enough and the consistency would be watery. I was surprised to see the amount! It was a slight oily serum and it all enough to cover my entire face and neck. Actually, it could have been used over the whole day! I loved it! The serum didn't male my skin oily or breakout. It made my skin look moisturised. This is something I would definitely use during Winter as my skin tends to go dry! My skin felt smooth throughout the whole day! However, the price is the only thing that's holding me back from getting the product. Overall, a good serum!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautorium review [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to receive a sample of this product on the last beautorium as it's too expensive for me. It comes in small capsules and you have twist it gently to open it. I find that it leaks easily and you'd want to save every drop of it. I was able to stretch it to two uses per capsules which gave me more than a week to trial it. I don't have mature skin yet so I don't have a lot of expectations that I will see a difference on my skin. The product is more like an oil and really good for winter time. My only concern is that it makes my foundation slide off more easily compared to when I'm not using it. I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money on a serum that will cause my makeup to slide off easily so I'll give this a pass.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautorium review [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a sample packet of Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum with my last Beautorium order. Most people in their reviews said that one capsule of serum was enough for their face, neck and décolletage. I have a large face and dry skin, and one capsule of serum covered my face and neck, but it wasn’t enough for my décolletage. Each capsule easily snapped open, but the serum squirted out quickly. I did not feel the need to use a moisturiser after applying the serum. During my trial with the serum, two small patches of flaky skin appeared. This was probably due to the serum containing retinyl palmitate¸ an ingredient that increases cell turnover. I knew that the flakiness was due to the serum because I wasn’t using other new products during the brief trial. I doubt that I would buy this serum because it contains a high percentage of synthetic ingredients that do not seem to have any purpose apart from leaving an occlusive film on the skin. These ingredients may give the feeling of softer skin, but they don't provide the skin with any nutritive benefits.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from More than I thought in the capsules [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got a sample of Ceramide capsules by Elizabeth Arden. I was surprized at how much it in one. I find only 2 problems with it. 1. When I manage to get the "top" off I lose part of the product as it comes out so easily. I have had to use little nail scissors to snip the tip off and not lose half. 2. For me it is way over my budget to be able to buy it. :( Yep sad face I did find my face looks better after using it and feels better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent, but I won't be rushing out to buy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a product I've been wanting to try. I love the convenience of the pre-portioned capsules and my skin has been a bit dry lately and in need of an extra layer of hydration. First thing I noticed is that the capsule, when twisting the top off, is actually a bit flimsy and the because it's so squishy, it's hard to control what comes out. One capsule is a bit too much, but there's really no way to neatly or effectively halve a capsule, so it's all in one go. I ended up with way too much for my face, thirsty as it was, and ended up using the remainder as a really pricey hand serum. Value for money is not what these capsules are all about! Second, this serum is silicone-heavy, which was apparent once I put it on my face. It sat on my skin without absorbing in for quite some time. By morning it had absorbed, but it didn't actually give my skin the hydration I'd hoped for. My skin actually felt quite tight, so as a hydration boost, this has little to no benefit for me and the heavy use of silicones (there are several types of silicones present at quite high levels) rules this out for me as silicones are something I've discovered to actually be an irritant for my skin. Overall, for the price, practicality and result, I was not impressed and felt the product relied on gimmick for sales rather than substance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from novel oil based serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a sample of these capsules with my Beautorium order. I like that the dose is pre- determined so you know exactly how much to apply each time. I found them difficult to open and I wasn't certain I'd used all the serum in the capsule - I usually use every last drop of products, even cutting tubes to get the last bit out but these were too small to warrant further treatment. It is oil-based but absorbs easily without leaving any residue to get on the pillow at night. I feel it is doing my skin some good but am happy to continue using other serums as I find these too fiddly. They'd be good for travelling.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Instant hydration but inconvenient packaging [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you BH for the bonus gift and the last time I used these was probably 20 years ago from a gift and I do believe the formula has since changed. Really cute gold capsules with serum in transparent liquid form which I find is quite attractive and does stand out . The serum itself has a slight perfume scent ( which I find is unneccesary ) as only I only use these type of products in the evenings after cleansing my face/neck as it is too heavy for me for day use. What I found inconvenient is it squirts out very quickly even though I intended to put in the palm of my hands as it is a small capsule so you need to be careful opening it. I applied and massaged this directly on my neck and instantly you can feel the penetration of the serum on my skin. Because I have dry skin , the oils in the serum felt good on my neck and instantly absorbed without extra greasiness. For those who have oily skin , I think it will be too heavy for you so it is best to try one capsule first to see how it feels . For a small capsule it is quite powerful and left me with smooth soft skin almost instantly .

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Surprisingly impressive [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first thing to note about this product is the easy to use container, with just a push of the button you can get your little capsule. The capsules are very pretty looking! It took some getting used to opening them, EA suggest two twists.. it takes a little finesse. The serum is quite silky feeling.. I loved massaging the capsule into my skin every night, not just on my face but into my décolletage as well, the smell was unique but quite pleasant, & I made sure to spend a couple of minutes with it after cleansing, & just before bed. In the morning I would wake to smooth, hydrated feeling skin. The only trouble I had was in the mornings when I would put it on & then try to apply sunscreen. Sunscreen is my number one priority every day. I waited about ten minutes between the steps but my sunscreen just would not stay on. It is a wonderful night serum & I highly recommend it for that.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am reviewing this product as part of BH trial team, which I am always happy to be a part - thanks BH! The product is a serum which is to be used twice a day after cleansing. It comes in a container with several single use capsules which are easily opened. The serum is very viscous, and the quantity in each capsule goes a VERY long way. Not only was I able to cover my face, but my neck, decolletage and backs of my hands (which I recommend, another place we ladies show age quickly!) The pro with the packaging (aside from the very slick gold coloured containers and capsules) is that the single use capsules ensure that you maintain hygiene for each application. I was told by the lovely ladies at Elizabeth Arden that the capsule packaging was due to the lack of preservative in the serum, which is also a plus. Watch out for the price though - I found it very expensive. My personal downside was really due to the fact that I already have very oily skin so the richness of the serum was too heavy for me. If you have normal or dry skin, you will absolutely love this serum, your skin will be super hydrated. For me, over the three weeks I've been trialling, it unfortunately resulted in several whiteheads and blackheads and some clogged pores. In order to combat the additional hydration provided by the serum, I got some good tips from the team at the BH event to use a clay based mask/cleanser as well as exfoliate more often. This should help to balance out my skin. I'm actually of the hope that my skin will calm down, and it has already started to do so. I'm going to stick with it until I finish the product because aside from these initial issues, my skin tone improved so dramatically that I think one day I'll be able to confidently go out without needing makeup. This is BIG - I never go out without at least a little bit on. So we'll see, but for now the aim is keeping the little bumps at bay.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Oh my Not me [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I Have naturally oily skin so wrinkles are not really my bug bear but I thought ' Lets try' . I am grateful this was a Beautorium bonus, if I had paid recommended retail there would have been rather pointed words with Elizabeth Arden. When I tried to opted to open this bizare little "capsule" of lotion /serum it squirted all over my favourite top. Now it may perform as advertised but I was no longer game to risk my wardrobe and passed these along through a photographer friend to someone one needs or desires these more.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Sure Yet. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was delighted to receive a sample pack in my Beautorium package and what a lovely idea the packaging is, in the little cylinder with the pretty looking pods. There has been so much hype around this NEW FORMULA Ceramide Capsule release that I expected wonders. Unfortunately that didn't happen and I'm probably not all that sorry because of the price. The first capsule I opened didn't quite go to plan and I got much of it on my hands - a very, very nice hand therapy but no way would anyone want to put something costing so much on their hands when it isn't necessary. I was much more careful with the other pods and found there was more than enough serum for face and neck but the length of time it took to absorb meant it was a night serum only, definitely not suitable for daytime for me. I wasn't fussed about the length of time it sat on my skin before any obvious absorbing happened and even then I felt it was more sticky than I like. I haven't any major issue with the product except that I expected to see obvious improvement in my skin, which I didn't. I have products that definitely suit my skin more so will not be distressed that it is so expensive because I don't need to buy the capsules.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nothing restored... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had seen (and heard) about this EA product, and so was most excited to receive my 7 capsule sample tube with my beautorium order. I found the packaging quite cute, though managing not to get the oil everywhere when opening it was a constant challenge. I just used my fingers to twist then tried to apply evenly over my face and decolletage. I am not an oil user, and so this was novel for me, and I can't say I'm a huge fan of it versus a cream formulation. Though there was little to no scent, which was good, and it was quite therapeutic rubbing it into my face. It feels quite nice on, but after application it seems to do nothing for my fine lines and wrinkles, or large pores and my skin still looks red/inflamed and dehydrated immediately after application. I thought an oil might be a winner for my now combination-dry skin, but it is not something I would even consider. That all being said, I was thankful for the opportunity to try it, and I am very happy that companies such as Elizabeth Arden are putting samples into the beauty community to let their products speak for themselves - which really, they should.
