Directions

1. Wash: apply daily to a wet face. Rinse thoroughly with water.
2. Scrub: apply daily, massaging product in circular motions, concentrating
on the T-Zone (forehead, nose & chin). Rinse off with water.
3. Mask: apply to face 2-3 times per week. Allow to dry for 5 minutes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from does what it says on the tube! I saw results with this after my first use!<br />The blueberry smell of this face wash is gorgeous. The packaging is cute and simple and it literally does what it says on the tube. I have tried it as a face mask and scrub. My skin feels very smooth after washing with the garnier pure active charcoal face wash. I find the scrub to be fine to use as a daily face wash and that's exactly what I do! It makes my skin feel amazingly smooth afterwards and it helps as my make up works better as it has an even base to work with! I have an oily t-zone which gets worse in summer with the warmer weather. I've used the garnier pure active charcoal face wash and haven't had any oily skin at all! It has cleared up my oily skin completely. I also have a few blackheads on my nose which I have never seemed to completely get rid of. After less that a week I've noticed them reduce and I have to really stare in the mirror to see the few little ones that I now have left. So far, I've loved everything about the garnier pure active charcoal face wash. The smell is great, it's tackled my oily t-zone and I've seen a reduction in the number and size of my blackheads-what's not to like? The price for all this too makes it definitely worthwhile and definitely something I will buy regularly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pore Cleaner The Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal 3-in-1 is fantastic for oily skin. It's a terrific cleanser thanks to the salicylic acid, which helps removes dirt. It has exfoliating bits in it to help unclog pores and smoothen your skin. I love that this cleanser helps remove excess oil (thanks to the charcoal) without stripping all the natural oils away. It doesn't leave my skin feeling tight, which is amazing There are a couple of cons though - one of which is that I don't know how this works as both a wash and a scrub. It says to use it as a wash, you apply it to your face. To use as a scrub, you gently massage. Am I the only one who washes my face by gently massage the cleanser on my face? Are you only meant to "apply a cleanser to your face" and then rinse it off straight after? However, I do love that this can be used as a mask. It's actually surprisingly slightly refreshing to slap this on and stalk people on facebook for 5-10 minutes before my shower The other con is that it is so messy when you wash it off because of the charcoal. It leaves grey marks on my vanity and sink (it can be cleaned off, but when you're in a rush to get to work, cleaning after one's self just does not happen till the weekend) Although this cleaner does a decent job in cleaning my skin. It hasn't really helped with pimples in the 10 days or so that I've been using it - this may be more effective in the long term. Also, pimples may be due to hormones?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Soft, smooth and blackhead free. I am quite picky with what I use on my skin, namely my face as I do have quite sensitive skin. I have been battling with blackheads for as long as I can remember, with going to the gym more I really needed something to clear my face and remove all the excess oils at the end of a long day. I have combination skin and am at work in aircon all day and then working out a few nights a week so my skin has to deal with a lot, and on top of that all the makeup I lather on. This stuff made my blackhead prone spots feel smooth and actually removed and cleared blackhead areas nicely. My preference is to use it as a scrub, leave it on while I wash the rest of my body and then wash it off - that is what I found works best. It helped clear up a lot of my blackheads and really clear out my skin. It also has a lot of product for the price - which is great. Definitely one of my favourite garnier products to date. The only downside is it is a touch messy. You have to wipe down the sink after using it - but that is with any charcoal based product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little bit different I had the opportunity to be on the Trial Team for Garnier's Pure Active Intense Charcoal 3-in-1. What I liked most about this product is that it really is multiple products in one, Wash, Scrub and Mask. I'm not so sure it could really be called 3-in-1 though, as it is kind of impossible to wash your face with this product without scrubbing it. I did use this product in all 3 ways as directed on the packaging. The Wash and Scrub were essentially the same thing, my face did feel purified and thoroughly cleaned afterwards. The Mask however was probably my favourite use of the product. It is a very thick black formula that applies very evenly to the skin. It was exactly what I expected from a mask. It gave me that "tight" feeling I wanted and had a refreshingly good tingly feeling as it dried. It was however quite troublesome to remove after it had dried. I found it used quite a lot more rinses in the bathroom sink to remove all the residue. This was the one negative I had on the product, that is was time consuming to remove. My skin does feel slightly less oily than previously and cleaned and exfoliated, it also helped to gently remove some of the dry skin on my forehead from a sunburn I acquired over Christmas (naughty me).

I received the Charcoal 3 in 1 which is a wash, scrub and a mask all in one product. A great multitasking product if you ask me. My skin is combination but tends to be more on the oily side so I was excited to see that the product had charcoal in it. Charcoal is great for drawing impurities and cleansing the skin, making it perfect for my problematic skin. The 3 in 1 comes in a tube and has written on the bottle the ingredients. Along with Charcoal it contains blueberry extract as well as salicylic acid. Not sure what the former helps with, although I believe blueberry is an antioxidant which is good for the skin, the latter is a wonderful ingredient for those who suffer from acne and blackheads. It sloughs off dead skin and helps with minimising pores and blemishes. The wash is dark in colour and grainy but still a bit liquidy. As a wash it was good. My face felt clean and refreshed after using it. Any excess oil was removed and it left a cooling sensation on my skin. Even though it's a scrub I found it to be too light for my skin but it was still alright. It works well for those who want to exfoliate without causing any irritation. I think I preferred it most as a mask. I applied it all over my face and let it sit for 10 minutes before washing it off. You notice a clean, matte face right away and after a couple of days I noticed my pores weren't as congested and it helped keep my acne under control

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3 in 1 product for the time poor This product is a cleanser, scrub and mask all in one. It is excellent for those who are looking to purchase a product that does it all. Because the product contains charcoal it comes out as a thick black cream, so avoid using white towels when using this! It smells quite fresh and feels very soothing when applied to the skin. I preferred it more as a mask as it was good for mattifying my pores. It also makes for a great selfie! After using it for a couple of weeks I noticed that my skin looked and felt visibly smoother as well as less oily. The only downside to the product was that it did sting for the first couple of uses.

I have to say I started out a bit skeptical with the 3in1 promise of this product as they tend to skimp on quality to combine uses however I really enjoyed using this product and will continue to use it! When used as a mask:<br />Pros:<br />- very easy to apply on your skin (strongly pigmented)<br />- when dry the mask does not flake off like some other masks which is great if you are using it in bed/on the furniture<br />- following use there was a noticeable difference in my pore size and my skin felt very clean and tight<br />- blemishes appeared less red straight away Cons:<br />- the smell is very intense<br />- takes longer than the five minutes (as directed on the package) to dry (probably around 15 mins for it to completely dry)<br />- because it does not flake when dry it is hard to tell once completely dry When used as a cleanser:<br />I have been using products from the Garnier range for years and I love them all. I have to say that this product stacks up with the rest of them. Again the smell is quite intense (worse than any of the others from their range) and the colour can be confronting when using as a daily cleanser however upon daily use for a few weeks I have noticed that my skin has remained clear from using this product so I will definitely continue to use it Overall for the price I think this is a great product and I will continue to use this as a once to twice a week mask instead of a daily cleanser.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Detoxifying 3 in 1 I have always loved using charcoal products for my problematic skin. I tend to have breakouts and blackheads mainly around my chin area. Nothing seems to help me get rid of the bumps and pimples under my lip After trialing the Pure Active 3 in 1 charcoal anti-blackhead product, I noticed this area was smoother, less blackheads were showing and no more pimples! I used it as a wash everyday for 2 weeks and scrubbed it simultaneously with each wash. The mask I used it on the entire face and left it for 5 mins, it did tingle a little but I put it down to the salicylic acid. After washing off the mask, my skin felt deeply cleanse, hydrated and smooth The smell wasn't my favourite, as it has a very strong chemical smell. It kind of reminds me of a guy's facial product because it has that smell that most 'sports' products have. I lent it to my husband to use and he enjoys the scent. The charcoal is quite dark, so be careful around white clothing and white basins! Even though it is easy to wash off, it can appear quite messy to use. Overall, I really liked how easy it was to use and how it helped my skin clear up!

I like to use it as a mask best, it feels really cleansing and dries quickly but doesn't make my face feel super tight and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. It's easy to use, squeeze straight from the tube and the consistency is just right and easy to apply with fingers so it's not at all messy. It has a pretty strong smell, which is kind of minty but not irritating or too chemically. I left the mask on for about 5 minutes then washed off in the shower with a face washer. It's a pretty good scrub too, you can feel the little granules and it makes your skin feel and look nice and clean and clear. For the price I think this product is definitely worth it, I'd use it again.

I have quite significant blackheads on my nose and chin and found this to be quite effective on those This product is gentle enough to be used daily as a Cleanser, and helps purify the skin as it contains salicylic acid. I really enjoyed using this product as a scrub too as it contains natural exfoliating particles that can help to unclog pores and prevent and reduce congestion. The mask helped keep my skin feeling smooth due to the charcoal ingredient that encourages the removal of impurities. I like to use this product when I'm in the shower waiting for my conditioner to soak in so that it saves even more time and less mess! After trialling this product, I found that it does exactly what it promises and for the price, you really can't go wrong! I will definitely be purchasing again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great innovative product with steady results I was apprehensive to try this 3-in-1 product at first, with previous experiences a decade ago with this kind of product left me thinking they were ineffective. However, this one incorporates charcoal so I wanted to give it a go! My first charcoal face wash. I tried it after removing makeup with micellar water (also Garnier, I love love their micellar range) just as a regular face wash. The charcoal had a great consistency and I loved the smell and texture. It left my face matte but not dry (I have normal/dry skin) and my pores felt good and clean (still had blackheads though) So I thought I would try it as a mask. I left it on for a few minutes and washed it off. My face felt so fresh during the masking process, tingly but not at all painful. I was really happy with the feeling. After washing it off I noticed smaller pores and was happy with just one masking removing some blackheads. I have used it for a week, every second day and have been really impressed with a reduction in blackheads on my nose and chin! I didn't really think I had chin blackheads but somehow the pores look tighter and smoother.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Refreshing and pleasant Overall, this is a really good product. It comes in a squeeze tube which is always handy as it reduces the messiness of use. The product itself is black and it has little grains in it (for exfoliation). It has a medium consistency-not thin but not thick either. When you apply the product it blends out easily onto the skin, so you don't need a lot. I think it smells a bit like the Nivea for men range. The product smell like men pretty much, which I feel is not for everyone. Personally, I really like it though because it is a very fresh scent. All 3 uses left my skin feeling and looking fresh and healthy.<br />The wash: I used it to remove my makeup, however it left a lot of my foundation on my face afterwards. So as a wash, I don't really like it.<br />The exfoliation: Really good, the little grains in it didn't irritate my skin and left it feeling fresh. It's great for everyday use!<br />The mask: I applied it and washed it off after 5 minutes, as per the instructions. It seemed to mostly dry in that time, but didn't leave my face feeling like it had been set in stone like a lot of other masks which is a huge plus in my opinion. When I washed it off, it was really easy to remove- it came off effortlessly.<br />In terms of removing blackheads it did help the ones on my nose a fair bit, but not all.<br />Personally, I don't get the difference between the wash and the exfoliation because when. Use a wash I massage it into my skin anyway. But I love the exfoliating and the mask!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a fan I like a lot of Garnier products. I have combination/oily skin, I'm in my 40s and still suffer from blackheads so I thought this might work well for me. I found that this irritated my skin a bit, I would be a bit red afterwards, my partner who likes a more coarse exfoliator really liked using this. And I know this is silly but I didn't like using it cos it would sometimes leave black bits through the shower and I would only use it when I was washing my hair in case it left black marks near my hairline that I didn't spot before leaving the house. I wanted to like this product but it just wasn't the right product for me, partner loves it though.

It's either the packaging, consistency, name etc. And for someone who's struggling to maintain their skin, this is a concern for me. Is there a way one can tell the real original product? There's just so many variants and it's not cool.

While the redness has gone from the big pimple. I think that would have gone on it's own. The charcoal comes out a grey colour and washes off easily.

Chaorcoal, exfoliation, oil control, acne control, and a mask alongside, all in one tube, it sure does promise a lot. And as such, it delivers...mostly. Is it effective at removing oil? Very much so. Is it a good exfoliator? combined with a good gentle facial scrubber, absolutely it is. Does it work well as a mask? By and large yes. But... It does not wash off easily, or if it does, it certainly doesn't leave behind that sparkly squeaky clean feel that a good cleanser should. It almost feels like I just wiped off a rich cleansing milk off my face without washing off the residue. I normally use it in the shower and I can get it off properly, but it also makes a mess in the sink and on light coloured towels if it remains on the face even in small traces. It won't be my pick for a quick face wash over the sink. However, a good toner applied after washing the face solves all of that.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, not great This is a product I was really keen to try because charcoal has been all the rage as brilliant for your skin. I must say, I really liked the idea of a three in one product, and I like that it feels really nice on the skin, and the exfoliating beads are of a good coarseness to really get in and remove all the build up and gunk from your skin. However, this product is exceptionally hard to wash off. I feel like it sticks to my skin and just doesn’t want to be washed off. It takes quite a while and some scrubbing with a washer to remove all the product from my face, not to mention how the product gets in all your finger nail cuticles and takes a lot of effort to get it out. Also the product stained my face washer and my dressing gown so be really careful that you’re not wearing your favourite robe or new expensive towels near this product. I do like this product but it is nothing too exceptional.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great product for oily skin but had a very intense effect that would leave my skin dry if I used it daily, however, I would recommend it as a mask or for people with intensely oily skin. when used in combination with a softer cleanser and an intensive moisturiser I found it had the best effect for my skin type (combination).

As a face wash I do not recommend using it nightly as constant exfoliation is bad for your skin. I preferred to use it as a scrub as it was gentle and made my skin feel really nice and clean after. As a mask it was just annoying. It somehow got everywhere as it dries and flaked off my face. In saying that I found that it helped with my oily areas and helped reduce the oiliness. I recommend this product to people with oily skin as it did dry out my nonoily areas.

It was soft and smooth, although i definitely didn’t notice much of a difference in my blackheads but still a good product.

Not bad for a cleanser or scrub but I find it too runny for mask. My blackheads haven't reduced significantly, will keep using to see if better results show.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What first attracted me to this product was that is was charcoal based product and as an oily skinned lady that appealed to me greatly. I’m also a big fan that it’s a multi use product. I wouldn’t necessarily classify the cleansing and scrubbing functions as two separate properties because you’re going to be doing both regardless of which you choose to emphasise, but I did like that you could make it a mask.\nIf I’m giving my honest opinion I would say it’s an average cleanser at best. The beads in the scrub aren’t too harsh (pretty mild actually), but I still wouldn’t want to risk to using this everyday if you have sensitive skin. I couldn’t say that my skin was any better or any worse after using this compared to others out there on the market. I mean my skin didn’t react negatively to it and this product does clean your skin, but there are definitely better ones out there. The mask does does draw out some of the dirt in your pores, but again I’ve had better results from other masks. \nI found it to be a little messy to use. Putting it on is fine, but when I wash it off the dark water seems to go everywhere. Maybe I’m just a messy washer, but I don’t seem to have this trouble with other products. \nI like using this to take off my makeup and as a precursor to my other cleanser. I will definitely keep using this and use up the tube I have, but if you’re looking a really good cleaner/scrub/mask there are better options out there. \n

I didn’t notice any difference in the number of blackheads I had after using it every day for two weeks. I feel as though the product wasn’t abrasive enough to use as a scrub, and didn’t leave my skin feeling as soft as some other scrubs on the market.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I used garnier pure active 3 in 1 charcoal 3 times a week for me I didnt see much of a difference in my pores as i do have big pores around the nose and cheeks. It did help make my skin feel fresh and clean less oily then usual. I had tried it as all three options the mask was ok, but abit annoying taking it off as it went everywhere when washing it off. I prefered using it as either a scrub or wash as it made my skin feel refreshed but in the end didnt do much to minimise my pores or blackheads. \nI would recommend this as a wash/scrub rather then a mask its price is also really good for a everyday wash/scrub but doesn’t make a real difference in minimising blackheads/pores.\n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I found trialling this product to be interesting, as I had no idea what to expect from a product that claims to be ‘3-in-1’. After using the Garnier Pure Active Charcoal 3-in-1 for about a month, in all of the three capacities, I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of the product. Firstly, I found the product to have a very strong, very odd scent that is reminiscent of some sort of cheap minty lolly. So strong is the menthol/minty scent, that I found that it stung my eyes, especially when applying as a mask.  No matter how you use the product, the scent is quite strong, and it has the same warming tingly/slightly burning/stinging sensation, although this is intensified when using as a mask. I don’t mind, because the sensation is mild, and it feels as if the product is working effectively. The packaging is just a simple plastic squeezy tube, that is quite uni-sex in appearance. \n\nUsing this as a wash, I have to say that I find it to be too harsh for an everyday use. I also fail to differentiate between using this as a wash or a scrub. There is no way to use this product with no exfoliation. It does not foam, which I like, because my skin is sensitive to a lot of foaming agents. When mixed with water on damp skin, the texture changes from a gritty gel to a milky grainy consistency. If using this as a ‘wash’, this product will last quite a while, as you do not need much. It does not effectively remove makeup, nor does it seem to clean my skin very effectively.\n\nAs a scrub, I enjoyed the product quite a bit. Although it is not the most effective scrub I have ever used, it is a very decent scrub for the price tag. I only used this as a scrub 2-3 times a week, as it is too harsh for everyday use. After removing my makeup, and washing my face with my regular cleanser, using this as a scrub to exfoliate and get right into my pores I found to be quite effective. The addition of salicylic acid and citric acid seemingly helped my skin stay relatively clear during the Christmas/New Year period of indulgence, although in no way did I see a complete improvement.\n\nMy favourite way to use with was a mask. I found it to do the job of purifying my skin, as well as smoothing and exfoliating. I also found that it helped to shorten the life of any breakouts. I did find that using it as a mask used quite a large quantity of the product. I found myself having to repeatedly squeeze out more product in order to get an even coverage over my face, or even just my t-zone. When washing the mask off, if I just applied a little water and massaged my skin before rinsing, I found that it was as good as using it as a scrub. The claim of having removed up to 96% of excess oil is only temporary, and in my opinion, exaggerated. The result is not long lasting, and I still got quite oily during the day after using this. The effect of excess oil removed is seemingly only immediately after use. Although it was not mentioned as a use, I have used this as an overnight spot treatment, which was reasonably effective, and I will continue to use it  but nowhere near miraculous.\n\nImmediately after any of the ‘three’ uses, my skin did feel softer and smoother. It also felt oil free, but for my combination skin it left my skin feeling too dry and tight, and I felt the need to lather on moisturiser. If I did not moisturise after use, my skin would end up dry and flakey, but still oily and shiny (go figure!?). While it did improve breakouts and blackheads, I didn’t see any drastic improvement. I think an oily/very oily skin type with a few occasional blemishes and some blackheads would be most suited to this product. I would not recommend this to those with sensitive skin types, or sensitive to fragrance or harsh exfoliants. I will continue to use the product, and overall, I do like it. I do not love it. There are better products on the market, for each of the ’three’ uses. In my opinion, the Garnier Pure Active Charcoal 3-in1 tries to do too much.  By trying to be every step in your skincare routine, it fails excel in any of the ’three’ uses, and is only consistently mediocre, aside from being a terrible idea of an acceptable  everyday, or even twice daily facial 'wash'. I wish I had enjoyed this more, as the concept sounds great, and would be very convenient for travel. \n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Having used this over a few weeks, I use 3 days a week as a cleanser and apply it as a mask once a week, my skin is evidently cleaner feels fresher. I would recommend to use this before showers as it can be quite messy to wash off your face. I enjoyed this as a mask on weekends, hop in the shower and wash the mask off for an instant cleanse. My skin is softer and cleaner. With regular use I would say blackheads would be reduced, but not 'solve' blackheads completely, it doesn't minimise pores remove acne problems. This produce would be best if it falls in your budget and for maintaining skin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Highly cleansing worked excellently to decongest pores after a long day!! loved the thick texture of the product i found the function as an exfoliant to be the most effective. In terms of break outs and blackheads i didn't notice much of a reduction but my skin felt super clean after each wash. It was super handy that it was a 3 in 1 product ... although the dark colouring did make it a little messy in the bathroom.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I've been using this mask on and off for about a month and I think the concept of it is interesting however I think it still needs improvements in order for it to be a 5 star product. \n\nPros: Cooling, Good for combination skin as it leaves skin feeling soft and doesn't dry out skin after use.\n\nCons: Doesn't smell nice (no scent would have been better), can't really be used as a face wash because of the exfoliating ingredient - its more like a 2 in 1 product.\n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I have used this product for about 2-3 weeks as a scrub and incorporated it into my skincare routine. I think it works great and definitely makes my skin feel very soft, the blackheads on my nose have decreased in size and aren't as noticeable as they once were. The scent of the product is a bit unusual but after a couple of uses it's fine. Due to the nature of the product, it is quite messy and you have to thoroughly clean afterwards. Overall I think this product is quite good to use a couple of times a week but I wouldn't use this daily as it made my skin a little dry.
