Rated 4 out of 5 by Leah P. from La Roche Posay makes products that I feel are very good for people with sensitive skin, and this is another one that falls into that category! This cleanser/makeup remover is the first step of my dual cleansing routine at night to wash away the day. Don't expect this to be a foaming cleanser, because it definitely isn't. All you need to do is pour a small amount of this onto a cotton pad, or Face Halo, and then work away at your makeup. \n\nIt's quite good at removing my foundation and eyeshadow, but it does falter at the mascara. I like that this doesn't irritate my eyes, like some oily makeup remover, and that it doesn't feel unpleasant on the skin. Good for those who can't use other makeup removers!\n

It also removes make-up and impurities calmly without irritation. The texture of the cleanser is lightweight and milky and like a lot of La Roche-Posay products, a little goes along way. This cleanser is fragrance free and what is interesting with this cleanser is that rinsing with water is optional. I rub the cleanser in a circular motion and then gently wipe away the product with a cotton pad and my face is left feeling calm without any residue. The only negative is that it doesn't remove all of my make-up and I have added this cleanser to my double cleansing routine. \n

I typically have issues with dry and sensitive skin, and my skin responded really well to this cleanser. The only downside of this product was the feel of the cleanser on my face. As other reviewers have mentioned, it does feel like there is a film residue left behind and that sense of feeling fresh and clean is not really achieved when using this product. Despite this, the product does what it's meant to. My face is looking bright and clear, which is the main thing you want out of a cleanser.

The consistency is creamy and rich so it locks the moisture in, which ensures you avoid that 'squeaky clean feeling.' I experienced no irritation, stinging or sensitivity at all when using the product. I found this cleanser works best when using it on a makeup free face in the morning or evening. \n\nAs a makeup remover I didn't find it effective, especially when wearing a full face of makeup. I had to use a sensitive, gentle foaming wash afterwards to completely get rid of everything. I think it's fantastic and gentle on days when you're choosing to go natural, or as a cleanser in the morning prior to applying suncream and makeup. I would recommend this cleanser to anyone who experiences dry and sensitive skin as a reliable go-to on days when you're natural and free.\n

Simple steps on the back of how to use the product. You are able to either use it with or without rinsing. I preferred to rinse it off and then use the Overnight cream afterwards to keep my face feeling hydrated and soft. Used the daily moisturiser and overnight cream also, the three did wonders for my skin.\n

It removed excess oil and left my face really moisturized, no tightness or dryness detected.\nI used in the evening to remove make up and in the morning to cleanse my face. Even though it is suitable to remove eye make up, it resulted in huge panda eyes due to mascara and eye shadow residue. Therefore I wouldn't recommend it for removing eye make up.\nThe bottle itself is of plastic and not too heavy, but it would have been easier to use if it was in a pump bottle.\n

Rated 4 out of 5 by A K. from There are some things I liked about this cleanser and some I didn’t. I liked that it didn’t irritate my skin or my eyes and that it is designed for sensitive skin. I found the packaging easy to use as it’s a squeeze bottle. It didn’t have a fragrance and felt nice on the skin.\nWhat I didn’t like about it is it didn’t take my makeup off even though it was marketed as doing so. I tried using it both ways that were suggested with water and with cotton pads but both did not remove all my makeup including double cleansing using this product. This disappointed me. I had to use another cleanser following this one to get my makeup off as this one just created a film of makeup around my eyes. I liked using it as a first cleanser to melt my my makeup and then used a foaming one to get all my makeup off.\nI would therefore only recommend this cleanser to someone with sensitive skin that hardly wears makeup or no makeup at all and that has sensitive and dry skin as when this cleanser is used with water it tends to leave a moisturising film on the skin.\n

The cleanser comes in a 200mL bottle, which is a decent size; the packaging is okay and sits securely in the shower alcove but the bottle shape does make it a bit hard to dispense the right amount.\nThe La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser is labelled as a 'cleansing and makeup removal fluid' suitable for 'all types of intolerant skin'. I use this a few ways as suggested on the instructions - with and without rinsing. Without rinsing, this is used like a cold cream and wiped off to cleanse the skin. I didn't like the film this left and didn't feel it removed makeup/sunscreen/sebum very well, just move everything around and added a layer of cleanser. I had to really rub it off with a washcloth to remove anything, which isn't great for sensitive skin.\nSimilarly, used as a first cleanser with massaging and rinsing per the instructions, I felt that this cleanser wasn't great for makeup removing - so if you are buying this, adjust your expectations around makeup/sunscreen removal. I use sunscreen every day so thorough removal is a non-negotiable for me.\nWhere this product really shone was when used as a second cleanser after my first oil cleanser. My skin felt nourished and hydrated, with none of the tightness that comes from stronger cleansers. There was no stinging or burning even near the eye area. Some cleansers leave me with a red patch which looks like I've been slapped - there was none of that. It left a slight film but did not break me out, and massaging it off properly when rinsing helped to reduce the film.\nI will be repurchasing this when the current bottle runs out, to use as a gentle second cleanser after my first, makeup removing oil cleanser.\n\n

The product is easy to use and versatile - You can use it with or without rinsing. The formula is creamy and smooth, my skin felt moisturised and clean after use. My dry and sometimes extremely sensitive skin experienced no reactions to this cleanser - hopefully it can help other people with sensitive skin too!

It can also take a little more to take off waterproof mascara which is okay as it causes no irritation to the skin and is designed for sensitive skin. Since using this cleanser along with the day and night moisturiser my skin has cleared up from pimples and it feels much softer. I have sensitive skin and it has been perfect. I would recommend these products to everyone

I personally lived this cleanser because other products that I was using previously was very drying to my face which would agitate my sensitive skin and rosacea. When I first used the cleanser it says to apply with fingertips and massage all over your face and rinsing is optional. I tried this method but it felt like I had a thin layer of an oily film on my face so I rinsed my face. My skin felt great but to check if it had actually cleansed my skin I used a cotton pad and toner to wipe my face and I noticed it had not cleansed my face well. So from then on I used a cotton pad to wipe my face with the cleanser and in that way i was able to check whether my face was cleansed or not. However, I would say this product is very gentle on the skin and doesn't to a great job cleansing it. You will need to use a toner to remove excess dirt and make up from your face. After continuous use I have gotten used to the product and I normally don't rinse my face after using the cleanser. I would recommend this product to people suffering from sensitive skin and rosacea. However, please note this cleanser is very gentle so you need to follow up with a toner if you want to cleanse your face thoroughly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Taryn C. from La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser was a bit strange at first as i am so used to the foaming/soapy cleaners that make you feel like you are cleaning your face, with all the suds going everywhere. I used it in the same way as those types of cleaners and quite often it didn't really feel like it was cleaning much at all lots of it is probably what you are used to. My skin didn't feel so clean that it felt dry or squeaky clean but it felt ok. I didn't use much at a time perhaps if I used more it would have felt cleaner, but it was ok. I have used other cleansers that made my face feel red and raw and itchy but the Dermo-Cleanser didn't make my skin feel like that which was great. It was quite runny which made it a bit tricky to get it all on your face when washing over a basin in the shower was probably a little easier. I don't wear much makeup so I didn't have to worry about it being effective with that. it doesn't have an overpowering smell which is nice and it does feel creamy on your skin and I didn't have any reactions to it which make it a nice product to have on my skin it just takes a while to get used to the way you use it.\n

Normally my skin gets quite irritated around the eye and nose areas when cleansing but I’ve had no problem with this one. The smell isn’t too harsh and with a little bit of a scrub my eye make up is removed quite easily too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by May M. from The LRP toleriane dermo cleanser is a cleanser and makeup remover that is geared towards those who have dry and sensitive skin. With all the products that I use my skin does go through stages where it can get very dry and sensitive so it's nice to have an option that will help me remove my makeup and cleanse my face without causing an irritation. It comes in a bottle and you can squeeze the creamy cleanser out and use it several different ways. One is which you can pour it onto your hands, mix it with a bit of water and rub it all over your face. I found this way to be quite hard as the product can slip from your hands and fingers making it hard to actually get the product on your face without causing wastage. The other way is with a cotton pad, you can pour the cream onto it and wipe it across your face. This might be easier but it can be time consuming as you'll need to use several pads. You can also use it with a wash cloth as well for a deep clean. There is no right or wrong way to use it, it just depends on your preference. The product is creamy and hydrating but don't expect it to foam up. It's very gentle and it does help cleanse the skin but I wouldn't say it's that great with removing makeup. You might have to go over the same area several times with the product before all of it comes off. If you have only minimal amount of makeup then it might be fine but a full face can be quite difficult especially on the eye area. It didn't cause any stinging or irritation which is what I had expected and was pleased with.

It is a cream cleanser, it's not like your traditional cleanser where you wet your face, apply the product and then rise to remove. It's a great consistency and leaves the skin feeling fresh as it doesn't strip away all your natural oils which I appreciate as I have combination skin. However, it doesn't fully remove make up. I found myself using my other La Roche-Posay cleaners along with this product. I found it more of a moisturising cleanser after my more stripping cleanser. If you have very dry and sensitive skin I can see this product working well for you. If you have oily to combination skin it will still work well, but I do not believe it will the most effective product for you. I would not repurchase. I think I will stick to the Effaclar Foam gel and moisturising after,

Rated 3 out of 5 by Lishy from i would use this cleanser every night after my oil cleanser, i preferred to use and oil cleanser before because i felt like this cleanser didn't make my face feel as clean, one thing i did like about the cleanser is that it made my face nice and soft. my face also looked less irritated after washing. i liked to pair this cleanser with the serum for the best effect.

For me personally this didn't remove my makeup at all, it just moved it around to a big mess and burnt my eyes terribly. I still had to use makeup wipes or micella water to remove my makeup. It does make a good gentle cleanser and didn't irritate my face or my acne, but at the same time I found myself having to wash my face a few hours later because it was too oily if I didn't rinse it, which was optional. You could get away with not rinsing it off if you have EXTREMELY dry skin. I have pretty dry skin but this was definitely too thick and oily for me to leave on \n\nAs a nice gentle cleanser, it's great, especially if you have super dry skin. As a makeup remover, it's awful. \n

It does not really remove my makeup completely and it leaves a residue after washing it off. I haven’t noticed a difference in my skin as result of using this but it is ok as a general cleanser after removing makeup.

I found the cleanser removed my makeup when I was just wearing my mineral foundation, however wasn't very effective at removing more heavier makeup, or when wearing mascara or eye shadow. I have normal skin, and found this to be a good gentle product to use in the morning, when I didn't need to remove any makeup, but just wanted a clean slate to apply my makeup. In summary, I would recommend this product to anyone with sensitive skin, and for someone who doesn't use their cleanser to remove makeup.

However, I am always open to trying new products and hoped I would like this. \n\nFirst, the product itself is very runny. This can make it a little more difficult to apply, especially if you need more afterwards. \n\nOn application itself, I found it did feel nice and gentle, there was minimal fragrance and it did not irritate my skin at all. However, I did feel that it was too gentle to remove my makeup fully and my skin did not feel fully clean afterwards. So I started using it as a second cleanser, after my foaming one. This definitely worked a lot better and my skin felt clean and soft after use. It is heavier that I like, I could feel it as a layer on my skin for a while afterwards. I don’t suffer from oily skin, but I would be wary if I did as I feel this could cause oiliness in some people.\n\nOverall, though it has nice aspects, I wouldn’t repurchase. I feel there are nicer cleansers out there which do a better job.\n

BUT i just didn't feel clean afterwards...it was like washing my face with moisturising lotion i found myself rinsing and rinsing my face to get the "residue" off.. but on the positive side i did not experience adverse reactions but would I buy it? No, wasn't for me..\n

Unable to use as make up removal fluid as it caused irritation. I also would not use it without rising off, as advised on the bottle. The top is extremely difficult to open.

Even though my skin felt clean with this cleanser I felt that I needed to do it again. It's not my choice of texture for a cleanser but it is effective. I found it cleansed my makeup off but it does leave mascara residue around my eyes. I do use smudge proof mascara too so not sure if that is the reason.\n\nThis cleanser is fragrance free which I like. \n\nI recommend this for anyone who doesn't mind a milky cleanser.\n

The only issue I had was that it didn't really remove my makeup so I had to first remove my makeup using a makeup remover and then use this cleanser. It's a nice cleanser but I could live without it.
