Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful shiny colours Garnier Nutrisse is so easy to use at home.It is really creamy , bit thick I would say.I use a brush to spread it on my hair.It is not runny , so there will be no mess, I love it.
It offers a good coverage of the white hair and there are plenty of nice colours to choose from.It doesn't dry the hair thanks to the special oils.
Obviously you have to follow with the shampoo for coloured hair and conditioner.
It is affordable also , good quality for the money you pay.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love colouring my hair, as it is such an easy way to change up your look, plus home hair colour kits have come a long way. After a few months of having blonde ombré lengths, I wanted an all over colour in a darker blonde or caramel brown, so I picked up this garnier dye in golden caramel blonde, on sale.\n\nFirstly, I am a huge long time fan of garnier, I religiously use their grow strong shampoo, conditioner and mask, which really has made my hair stronger and shinier looking, and their micellar water for combination skin is pure genius, I am well into my 4th bottle. \n\nAnyway, one lazy Sunday morning, I put on an old top, wrapped a towel round my shoulders and got to work. It was easy to mix the colour and activator but application was another story, I found it super messy compared to the ombré kits I've used, and it took ages due to my long hair. When I was finally done, I set the timer for 35 minutes as my hair is super long and can be difficult for dye to adhere to. I then rinsed in lukewarm water until the water ran clear then applied the conditioner supplied in the kit, pinned it up for 3 minutes, rinsed thoroughly and wrapped up my hair in a hair turban.\n\nAfter my hair was dry and combed, my hair was now a dark brown colour, definitely not the golden blonde/caramel colour the box promised. I am fairly disappointed as my natural colour is dark, almost black, and dull, so I was after a dye that would make me lighter and blonder, not dark like my natural colour. Maybe I didn't mix it correctly or left it on too long, I'm not sure but I'm not happy.\n\nDon't get me wrong, I still love garnier and will continue to buy and use it but it's obvious I need a lot more practice applying dye myself. In fact the next dye I'm using is garnier olia in intense deep red, so wish me luck and look out for my review on it.\n

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All time use This is The haircolour brand and type i use when i dye my hair. I have really thick hair and it goes over my shoulders, so i need 3 packages to cover all my hair. But if i use The same color and only do The roots, i only need 1 package. I have no problem with fading, just sunbleaching. - Dont really like The smell of The after care conditioner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from He uses colour , I use the conditioner It's amazing what you can do when you share items. Quite often my husband will buy the Garnier Nutrisse to cover his grey roots due to the moisturising ingredients which he trusts and this will last until the roots slowly grow long again . The colour of the label is quite accurate and always turns out to be the colour expected as long as you read the guidelines on the box . I think packaging is good that reads " gentle ingedients " to me . At the time , I had no hair conditioner and noticed a tiny bottle which he only uses once anyway . This conditioner has a nice flowery type scent ( perhaps from the herbal oils ) and very moisturising obviously made for coloured hair which is more than enough for my dry ends to feel nourished and soft after I wash my hair and made combing even easier . I would never thought a small bottle of conditioner in a hair colour can be so good and moisturising . I was very happy that this item was not wasted in a good hair colour package and is good enough to have a bottle of its own . Overall , a good quality colour treatment package .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Natural shiny tones with no damage. I've used this twice now and I'm really happy with it. I buy it in Espresso and it looks so natural. The first time I had it in I got a little scared because it looked like it was going to be black. Once I rinsed it out and my hair dried it was a very dark brown. Just what I was after. My greys were covered (and are still covered). This is the first colour I've used that completely covered my greys. I used to use semi permanents that promised to cover them but never did. I've used Olia in a similar colour and that eventually washed out my hair. I have low porosity hair so maybe that is why colour tends to wash out my hair quickly even permanent. Although this eventually washed out too (except on my greys) I don't think that is a problem with the colour. It has a very strong chemical odour while colouring so I had the bathroom fan on (this could be normal because I haven't used many permanents). It rinsed well and my hair didn't feel like straw. I used a treatment after rinsing, then the conditioner from the box and my curls dried shiny and soft. No damage at all. A natural colour that looks great with no flatness and seems to put some pink tone back in my skin. I look alive again with no greys ha ha. I highly recommend this colour and will continue to use it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Garnier Nutrisse Permanent Hair Colour Applied to light brown chestnut hair but if left longer than 5-10 minutes it turns black. If you hair is pourous do not use this as it will not come out much darker.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay but not the best out there. Garnier is probably my least favourite hair colour product, as it either doesn't achieve the colour or fades quickly. I understand not everyone has the same experience, but for me personally a no. I have dark brown hair which I often bleach and then I usually buy colour dye to apply over the top. I never seem to achievet he colour I want with the Garnier Nutrisse, also, the smell of the dye is quite strong, possibly one of the strongest smelling DIY hair colour I've ever used. However, the garnier nutrisse does provide the best conditioner within the packaging.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I seldom find time to take myself to a hair salon to colour my hair (let alone style it most days) since becoming a mother, so not only is at an home hair dye kit cost effective, it is also convenient in that it only takes a fraction of the time that it would take for me to sit in at the hair salon. \nNaturally I have medium brown hair, but I enjoy going darker to accentuate my green eyes and reach for a black hair dye. In the Garnier Nutrisse range I have opted for "Licorice". The formua is easy to mix and the gloves supplied do a reasonable job of keeping your hands functional so that you can effectively apply the hair colour. The dye comes out as a relatively thick cream like consistency and is quite easy to work through hair to ensure even colour distribution. Like most home hair colour DIY kits, it is a little messy, but no more so than most of them. \nOnce I have allowed time for the colour to take to my hair as described within the instructions supplied, I thoroughly rinse my hair and allow it to air dry. Once my hair has dried, the colour seems to have provided reasonable coverage and remains manageably soft and shiny. Although, only two weeks later the colour seems to have faded significantly, and no longer holds the impressive black, glossy colour. A little disappointing, my Cleopatra days are gone far too soon and I am already nearly back to my boring, dull brown natural colour. \nI like so much about this hair colour kit, but unfortunately the staying power has ultimately led me down and I don't think I will be in a hurry to repurchase.\n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good coverage Tried the hair color the other day and i had a good result. There was enough coverage for my few gray hairs. I normally get them near my temples and so the colour was applied liberally there. The scent of the hair colour was ok but i have used another product which was ammonia free which has less of a smell. I prefer low smell hair colour as i dont find the rinsing out in warm water during my shower good if the smell is too harsh. The colour was good too and it was a good tone with my olive skin tone. I liked the final result and it did a fair job. Just wished the smell was less intense. I will colour again in about two months most probably sticking to my other product (Coloursilk). Thanks for allowing me to trial it out

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A good home colour Thank you beauty heaven for the opportunity to trial this hair colour. The shade I received was "light' and the colour was a nice light brown. I have difficult to cover greys and this product did cover well. However, I was left with a pinkish tone to my grey roots that didn't look very natural. It faded after two washes but I was slightly annoyed. The product has a pleasant fruity smell for a hair colour and the texture was easy to apply and spread well. It washed out easily and left my hair smelling clean and fresh and feeling soft and easy to manage. This did leave my hair shiny and not at all frizzy as well. The gloves are (as always!) way to big and of a cheap and flimsy material. Having said all of that, I would still purchase this colour for a root touch up and freshen up between salon visits.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The colour is great! After opening the Garnier Nutrisse Hair Colour box and seeing that there weren't many contents it was clear that mixing the colourant would be easy. I followed the instructions (which was clear and concise) and it was very easy to apply and the coverage was just enough for my medium length hair, but the smell of the colourant was quite strong. The colour was great. After the initial rinsing out of the product, the smell was hard to get rid of. I had to shampoo my hair a few times. It left my hair shiny and felt strong. I would recommend this product for the colour that it produced but not with the smell of the colourant. It covered my greys wonderfully. Using it with the Garnier Nutrisse Avocado Enriched Mask added an extra nourishing component. The packaging of the product was secure.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from #5 Tamarind (a.k.a. dark mousey brown) Longer hair may need two boxes: cross out MAY and replace with WILL, and may need three boxes. I have thick hair that sits just below my shoulders, and had about three inches of regrowth. As part of the trial team, I was provided with just one box and did not want to purchase another box to take part in the trial. So I decided to do a regrowth application and try to blend it in with my previous colour One box didn't even entirely cover the regrowth, so I strategically applied to the hair that would be on the outside when pulled up in a ponytail and where the hair parts when it is down It did blend OK with my previous colour, thank god, although the Tamarind was very mousey brown (extremely close to my natural colour, which is why I normally colour), quite a flat lacklustre colour, and my ends are much more chocolate with red base In terms of covering grey, initially I thought it did a good job, but after I dried and brushed my my hair I could see it still left many greys, even in the areas where I left the colour the longest (following the instruction to leave for 35 minutes in total). I'd say it covered 90% of greys, but definitely not 100% The application bottle is easy to use, and mixing the colour in the applicator bottle means much less mess than some brands, but it was a challenge to get the last 10% out The smell of the product is not too strong, and didn't linger long once you washed your hair. The colour washed out very well, the water actually ran clear very quickly. The conditioner was sucked up by the freshly coloured hair, but like the hair colour more was needed Once my hair was coloured, I was happy enough with the colour and how it blended with my existing colour, but honestly I wasn't left with that beautiful shine that I have come to expect when colouring my hair. It was quite flat in colour and a little dry and frizzy once the entire colour process was finished. It definitely needed a follow-up conditioning treatment to replenish moisture and smooth the hair shaft.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Its good Firstly, I found the use of the product easy to prepare. I found the cream consistency great as it’s not runny like some hair dyes I’ve tried, so it’s not messy and you don’t get it dripping all over my basin and gloves It’s a nice pleasant smell, and not overpowering. Some products make you squint, but this didn’t I left it in for the allocated time, plus an extra 5 minutes. I then washed it out and blow dried my hair to look at the colour. It was a great match to my existing colour, which was created, but just found it didn’t cover my greys 100%. I had slithers of a lighter shade going through my hair. My hair is thick and coarse and although I loved the colour, I don’t think it will be an ongoing purchase due to that one reason. So to sum up, great smell, ease of use, great colour, it just didn’t grab the stray greys 100%. I would certainly recommend it, just not for me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from #5 Chocolate Brown - Fruity Scented, Cool to Neutral Toned Dark Brown I was thrilled to be sent this product to trial, so thank you Garnier & beautyheaven. I colour to cover greys, so the most important factor for me in choosing a hair colour is grey coverage that lasts. Due to time constraints, I'm unable to assess how long this colour endures compared to my regular brand. I intend to update this review in a few weeks' time At 50, my hair is 25-50% grey. I started greying prematurely, so I've been using home hair colourants for decades. In terms of ease of use, Garnier Nutrisse is very similar to other brands. Everything you need is included & the instructions are simple & comprehensive. The biggest difference to other brands is the scent: even before I opened the box, I could smell the fresh, fruity fragrance of the colourant. It smelt delightful until I mixed the developing cream with the colour cream. While I sat with the colour developing, sometimes the scent was fresh & fruity, then I'd turn my head & get the usual hair colour smell. It still didn't smell as bad as most hair colourants. The bottle of conditioner is much more generous than most home hair colour brands provide. While my hair felt a little drier than usual after colouring, I used the Garnier Nutrisse Avocado Enriched Mask the next day (Wonderful!) which made my hair much softer & more manageable than usual As per instructions, I used the colour selector tool on the Garnier website to choose my colour. I usually use level 6 light brown in my regular brand, but that was not an option, so I chose level 5 Chocolate. The colour on the pack was lighter than I expected, it was the same colour as my hair before colouring. After colouring, my results were definitely darker than indicated on the pack. The #5 Chocolate is a very natural looking, cool to neutral toned dark brown. It's darker than I like, so I wouldn't repurchase this colour. I've uploaded product pics, tips plus before & after pics onto the beautyheaven forum. At time of writing, they appear on pages 9 & 10 of the "Garnier Nutrisse Creme Hair Colour + Garnier Nutrisse Avocado Enriched Mask Trial Team" topic. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does a good job at a reasonable price point I was fortunate enough to be part of the Garnier Nutrisse trial and was provided with the colour and mask.
The main reason I colour my hair is due to grey hair starting to come through which I really noticed post pregnancy and given my age I am not ready to embrace the grey!!
I used Garnier to touch up my roots as I have balayage through the ends and found the product quite easy to use but also pretty standard in terms of packaging and application.
Overall the colour was nice and those pesky greys are covered for another 6 weeks!
The smell was not too bad in terms of chemicals and my hair was slightly dry post application but using the conditioner provided made it feel much better!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but not the best I've used Thank you Beauty Heaven for inviting me to be a part of this my first trial and how timely that it was on a hair product that I regularly need to use. My Garnier Nutrisse Hair Colour arrived in an easily identifiable, typically Garnier colour coded box in the shade Acorn 6, a shade that I chose seeing it looked so well on Carrie Bickmore. Another reason for my choice was that I have short thick but very fine medium brown coloured hair and do not like to go darker than what I already am, something we all need to be mindful of as we age. I found the instructions simple to follow and the colour creme easy to work through the lengths, although I have to admit it did drip on the odd occasion which is contrary to what the packaging states. Meanwhile the colour creme smelt very fruity, although didn't entirely mask the odd whiff of ammonia I occasionally got. After a 25 minute wait I decided to forego the conditioner included and opted for the Avocado Enriched Mask alone and I wasn't disappointed. The end result gave me very natural looking and shinier than usual hair and best of all it didn't feel dry after blow drying and was extremely manageable which hasn't always been the case after colouring. On the downside I did find that I still had a few stubborn grey hairs near the hair line so next time I would definitely opt for the 35 minute developing time slot rather than the 25 but overall I was satisfied with this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hair dye I use this garnier hair dye for my mum to get those white hair out . I use the colour black not only does it give it a good coverage it also leaves her hair feel soft , silky and smelling nice . I don't have to re dye her hair every week I do it every 4 or 6 months before her regrowth came , I recommend people with white hair to use this gives you a very healthy look

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very strong pigments - choose your colour wisely Garnier Nutrisse Hair Colour has a great website where it helps you pick your colour. Currently, my hair is dark brown. According to the website's "find my nutrisse" tool, my ideal colour would have been Liquorice black. Not wanting to go back to my goth days, I opted for the Garnier Nutrisse Crème colour 3.23 - Dark Quartz Brown. The packaging is nice, instructions are clear and the product is easy to use. Once I mixed the colour it was fairly straight forward to apply. I'm not sure if it was because I was colouring my hair in my small bathroom, but for me the smell was quite overwhelming that it stung my eyes The colour time is 25 minutes, so i popped on a shower cap - even though the product is nice and thick, it didn't drip. The first thing I noticed when I was rinsing out the colour was that my hair felt very dry. Luckily the conditioner included in the pack not only smells divine, it was very conditioning I dried my hair and it looked alot darker than I expected. I was hoping for a rich brown, but I got a shade that was closer to black, which was disappointing. Apart from the colour being too dark, the product is great and certainly provided great coverage.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nourishing hair dye, but not too effective for greys I used Garnier Nutrisse in Espresso Darkest Brown shade. My hair is naturally dark brown but I have greys, so I colour it regularly to cover the greys.
The Garnier Nutrisse Espresso is packaged similarly to other brands of hair colour - a cardboard box with instructions and protective gloves enclosed, as well as hair developers and conditioning product.
I applied the colour as per the instructions, and allowed the product to set for the allocated time. I ideally should've used two boxes of colourant as I only used one and my hair still felt rather dry after I'd applied it (my hair is just below shoulder length, so unless you have short hair, I'd suggest two packets of colour for better coverage).
When it was time to rinse, the dye was easy to rinse out and my eyes didn't sting, and there were no overpowering smells like I have experienced in the past with other brands of colour.
I was quite happy with the colour, but noticed that I still had a few greys showing which was disappointing. Perhaps if I'd used two boxes it would've been a better result, but I might not purchase again as I can get better coverage with other brands..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, not great From first appearance the Garner Nutrisse looked similar to other home hair dyes I have used in the past. Same cardboard box with usual suspects inside. I really think there is a bit of a gap in the market for a more high end hair dye, and that it could come with some more premium packaging. The first thing I noticed when reading the instructions was that this dye was to be applied on dry hair which is different to other dyes I have used.
The box contained the colour, the developer, a pair of gloves, instructions and a conditioner for afterwards. I set about mixing the colour and I must admit I got a bit worried at this point as the dark auburn red I was mixing up looked purple in the bottle! I have dyed my hair before so started at the front working my scalp first and finishing with the rest of my hair. I have long hair and a lot of it and initially thought one bottle wouldn't do it all but I was pleasantly surprised. The smell of the dye was fine, not great but not awful. I did have a slight burning feeling and watering of my eyes as I applied around my face from the fumes which I have not experienced before. The colour that went on my skin came off easily I left the colour to develop for 25 minutes while I sat and watched TV - no drips which is always good. The colour I chose was quite dark and it took a good few minutes to wash out! I then followed with the provided conditioner and waited three minutes to rinse. It has a nice smell and felt thick and nourishing. I decided to let my hair dry naturally overnight so wasn't really sure of the colour until I woke up - it is nice, even coverage but not as red as the colour on the box, it has more brown tones and is probably darker than I would usually choose. It also did not cover my grey strands which now stand out more because of the dark colour.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from High quality colour but choose very carefully Garnier Nutrisse is a really easy-to-use product - it mixes up without any problems (just mix and shake), applies easily (you can probably use a dye comb but I just massaged it in) and is done in just 25 mins (30 if you count rinse time). It was thick and didn’t drip off, which is good because last time I coloured my hair at home I dripped on the bathmat and ruined it. This time I removed all mats, but it was still good not to have to clean up the floor, basin or anything else. The smell is certainly better than most commercial hair dyes though slightly stronger than Olia which I tend to use - sort of a floral but with definite chemical overtones. I tested Chocolate, which I thought would match my existing colour pretty well, and while the product certainly covered up my greys (I only have about 20% grey), it also came out very dark - almost black - at least 2 shades darker than on the pack. The difference in colour for me is pretty dramatic and I plan to do a few Head & Shoulders shampoos to try and bring it back a little closer to my natural colour. That said, the end result is very very shiny (maybe because it’s so dark!), and also is not as frizzy as before and feels in pretty good condition with a nice bit of swing, especially since I followed up with the Garnier Avocado Oil & Shea butter mask conditioner treatment rather than the one in the pack.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Solid product - gentle on the scalp and hair After a much anticipated wait - the Garnier product proved an overall solid product, and much more gentler than other products on the market. The dye pack itself was pretty standard, and instructions were clear. I am accustomed to dyeing my hair with an ammonia-free dye and so accustom to gentler hair dyes but was surprised by the smell of the dye, once mixed and prepared - it had a mild lemon scent and the gloves were a bit thicker than the average gloves in these packs. When I first started applying the formulation, the paste was white but gradually darkened up and became a solid dark brown. It also proved to be much gentler than I expected on the skin , and wiped off easily when a stray drop of dye fell on my nose! Once it was on, the gel-like formulation seemed to thicken. Washing it out was harder and needed two rinses but the Conditioner provided was nice and thick and covered all the hair suitably. This conditioner is perfect for girls with thick, curly hair (like mine) and gave me a really solid hair dye result, proving strengthening for my hair. I would recommend this product - the colour is even and glossy and perfect for thick, dry or treated hair. I even dried my hair and straightened it right after dyeing it and it seemed to have left my hair much softer than before.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Vibrant Colour This is one of the better hair dyes you can get, and it's found in supermarkets! It's easy enough to use, though it can be a bit messy and has a very strong chemical smell (like all hair dyes). The gloves included are a proper rubber pair, so I didn't have to get some separately to use with this dye. The colour is ultra rich and long lasting!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from New version not as good as the old version Very disappointed with the ‘new’ version of this product. I have been using it for many years and it used to cover grey hair perfectly, now it doesn’t.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed After using the product- I still have many grey roots that need further treatment- disappointed

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Underwhelming I had been holding off any grey root touch ups for a few weeks until the Garnier Nutrisse Hair Colour trial pack arrived so that I could put it through its paces!
Grey roots at the ready, I prepared the 6 Acorn Light Brown colour. It had quite a fruity odour, which I thought was grapeseed oil, and upon further investigation found that it does indeed contain this. However, once completely mixed, you started to get whiffs of the hydrogen peroxide (which is one of the developer ingredients). It's bearable but not overly pleasant. The mixture is quite a runny consistency, which I don't mind because it seeps into all the nooks & crannies, but makes doing the back of your head a little messy.
There was just enough colour to do my whole head of hair (the bottle is 60ml), which is only about chin length. There was no burning or itching sensation at all.
After the alloted 35 minutes developing time for optimal grey coverage, I rinsed out the colour and applied the conditioning treatment that came in the pack, which made my hair feel silky.
Once completely dried, my hair felt soft, but the colour was quite flat and there no real shine. The major thing that I really didn't like (even though I suspected it would happen because of the hydrogen peroxide), my grey roots were a few shades lighter that the rest of my hair and had an orangey tinge to them. Alas, it gives the illusion of a bit of bald patch!
If you already have a build up of colour from frequent home colouring, I probably wouldn't both trying this, unless you're going from a lighter to darker shade. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not great at all, very unfortunate and now costly experience. Recieved my ultra light blonde hair colour as part of the trial team. First thing I noticed was how small an amount of colour there is (I have very thick long hair so would need three or four box's to cover it), only enough to do some highlights (glad of that now). I am experienced at home colouring so found the instructions and packaging pretty straight forward and easy to follow. Apon mixing and applying I noticed the smell, as usual I find no matter what the company's do to try mask it, they still have that toxic aroma and the fumes are a little overpowering, that's to be expected (work in a well ventilated space). It was easy to apply and I didn't have any dripping. As I'm watching my hair process I notice it's looking very grey/blue (not intended colour) so after wetting, lathering and rinsing I check in the mirror before applying the purple conditioner, just in case. No need to use that on my hair this time, applied a treatment instead. The condition of my hair feels not too bad. However the actual colour is very unflattering. It did not lighten anywhere near as much as stated on the box and the final result is like that of dirty dishwater with some dark orange bits and even green. So overall I'm not happy with the product and wouldn't use again. On a side note my hair was blonde and Garnier recommended for me to go black......? I wonder if everyone was suggested to use a different colour?? They could not be held responsible for the outcome if you stuck with your own desired choice.....?? I will not be taking any advice to buy more of their products to try and fix this...so overall looks like it's going to be a very costly trip to the hairdressers for me Brand Response:
Hi Jazzy1, sorry you didn't have a great experience with Nutrisse. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Perfect coverage but wrong colour Thank you for inviting me to trial the Garnier Nutrisse Crème Permanent Nourishing Hair Colour. I am blonde and was sent the Shade 8.1 "Champagne Ash Blonde" which looks like a golden honey blonde on the packet image The hair dye was very easy to use. It was easy to open the applicator bottle and colour crème and blend them together. The gloves were easy to put on and were not sticky against the skin The fragrance of the hair dye was fresh and fruity, with only a light chemical small. This was not at all bad or overpowering like the ammonia smell of other dyes Upon application, the crème looked like a white lotion and coated the hair effectively. There was no irritation or itchiness on the scalp at all. After 10 minutes, the lotion turned light grey. After 20 minutes, the lotion turned dark grey There was a generous amount of nourishing conditioner within the pack, enough for 3 applications. The conditioner felt gorgeous and rinsed off easily, leaving my hair silky to touch RESULT: The coverage of the hair was perfect, especially over the grey hairs. However the colour was wrong and not true to the packet image! The result on my hair was not blonde at all (nothing even close to any shade of blonde) and actually turned out dark grey! Very disappointing as the result was nothing like what I expected and I was completely stressed out, knowing I would have to keep this colour for a long time before being able to fix my hair!! Rated 1 out of 5 by from REALLY not for bleached platinum blondes I have bleached, highly damaged, platinum blonde hair.
I tested the shade 10.01 Natural Light Ash Blonde.
I had to purchase a second box because I have longer, thicker hair.
After sensitivity testing for 48 hours - something you should do with EVERY box colour, even if you've used that brand/shade since the dawn of time - I prepared my work space.
While they provide gloves, not all hands fit into them. One size fits SMall.
I used my own gloves. I followed the instructions exactly. Put on gloves, squeeze contents of colourant tube into developer bottle, shake to mix then snap off the tip of the bottle.
The smell was chemical but not overly, which was a pleasant surprise. The mixture is VERY runny, it was rolling down my face, back, around my ears....
According to instructions, they wanted the user to do the roots first. ANYONE who has ever lightened their hair knows about HOT ROOTS. You start about 3cm from scalp first then do the roots in the last 5 - 10 mins.
But I followed the instructions to the letter.
It didn't burn my scalp (Praise the Lord of your choice)
I used both bottles, combed the colour through evenly and left it to develop for the recommended 25 mins.
As instructed, I added some warm water and lathered up before rinsing until water ran clear.
I already felt my hair stretching and my gut dropped.
I had to use both bottles of conditioner (each bottle is supposed to do 3 washes.. maybe if you have a pixie cut)
I carefully squeezed the water out of my hair and could hear it crunch even though it was still damp.
The following day my hair was crunchy and the colour looked patchy.
I've been playing with colour on my hair for over 30 years and this was the first time I was afraid I'd have to shave my head.
I very carefully brushed it through, from tip to scalp, and cannot recommend this box colour to anyone with pre-bleached hair.
If you are a natural lighter blonde, then this will probably work for you.
