Directions

1: Mix• Put on the expert colourist gloves provided.• Place plastic mixing tray on flat, stable surface where it won't tip over.• Unscrew the cap from the colour activating lotion (2) bottle.• Empty contents of colour activating lotion (2) bottle into mixing tray.• Unscrew the cap of Permanent Colour Crème (1) tube (previously opened for allergy test - see reverse side of instructions)• Empty contents of permanent Colour Crème (1) tube into mixing tray.• Using the applicator brush, thoroughly mix contents of tray until the colour is completely blended.2: Apply• Gently brush or comb your hair into your preferred style.• Using the applicator brush, apply colour to your most visible roots at the hairline around the face, part and temples.• Make sure you saturate your most visible roots with colour. Don't worry if the colour of the mixture on your hair looks different from your desired colour - when its dry, your colour will be beautiful.• If any colour gets on your skin, wipe it off immediately with a damp towel. Countdown to No Roots• Once you're done applying the colour, leave it on for 10 minutes or the time indicated by your strand test.• Pour any unused colour mixture down the drain. Once mixed, it will lose its effectiveness after an hour.• Tip: if your greys are really stubborn, it may be necessary to leave colour on for up to 15 minutes. 3: Rinse & Go• Rinse hair with warm water until the water runs clear and style as usual. You've got natural - looking colour that will last up to 3 weeks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent grey coverage [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have naturally coarse brown-black hair with stubborn greys, and I usually colour it with a medium brown shade which makes it dark brown. This trial came around at the right time as my roots were showing quite badly, and I had been considering using touch-up products instead of doing my whole head of hair (which is thick and long and a hassle especially in winter). I did a 48 hour patch test with my selected shade 'Dark Brown', and I had no reactions. The box comes with a colour tube, an activator, a brush and a plastic tray. You combine the colour and activator creams in the plastic tray and mix it with the brush, then use the brush to apply to areas where the regrowth is obvious - along the part, the crown, and the visible hairline. The application process was very easy with the supplied brush, and the product had a pleasant smell despite containing ammonia. Given my stubborn hair, I left it on for a total of 15 minutes once I finished application, as recommended by the instructions. It was then rinsed off (without shampoo) and conditioned with my usual conditioner (optional, according to instructions). After rinsing off an drying my hair, I was very pleased to find that my greys had been covered and the colour looked very natural. I could've gone a shade lighter to match the rest of my coloured hair perfectly, but it's not a bad match. It has been 8 days since I've applied the product, and I've since washed my hair 4 times. I'm pleased to report that the colour has remained the same. The box says it will last up to 3 weeks, but the trial period is much shorter, so I am not able to say with absolute certainty that it will last that long - so far it looks promising, as I have not noticed any colour fade after 4 washes. Overall I am very happy with the ease of application and the grey coverage. If there is any criticism I have, is that I think Clairol could include a bit more colour and activator product per box. One box is really only enough for the obvious areas of regrowth, and it would be good to be able to go over the roots of most of your scalp . Given that there is quite a bit of packaging and plastic involved (the brush, gloves, tray etc) per box, I personally would not be comfortable buying two boxes and throwing more packaging/tools into landfill.

May need to use hairspray around your hairline before use as the little hairs are hard to cover with the colour and will need to sit on your skin for a while.

I have long, thick, porous hair and would need at least 2 boxes for proper coverage. The product mixed easily and was quite simple to apply. Upon checking the uptake of product to my hair, I found I needed to leave it on much longer than stated on the instructions, however this is typical of all box dyes for me. Once rinsed and dried, I still found the odd grey hair so grey coverage was not 100% for me. I think this product is acceptable if you're in dire need but cannot get to the salon as it will get you through.

This hair dye is quite useful for root touch-ups but didn't blend well. My hair is dark brown which i asked for but much lighter than my actual colour. My hair is very thick so probably would've been better with 2 packs The brush applicator it comes with makes applying the dye very easy. Whenever I need to retouch also it is is gentle and not damaging to my hair. Overall I would say for someone with short hair this product would be fine but longer thicker hair not so good.

I found the brush awkward to use as it was curved and it didn’t pick up much product. It didn’t take too long to apply as my greys aren’t too bad (yet) so I had more than enough product. I left it on for 15 minutes instead of 10 minutes just to make sure that it covered. The colour I used was dark brown which was perfect for my hair colour. I noticed that I missed a few hairs but I think that might be due to the difficulty I had with the brush. The box said that it would last 3 weeks but I found that my regrowth started to show after 2 weeks which is what usually happens when I colour my roots. Overall it’s not a bad product but I think I’ll stick to my regular product.

Therefore, it didn’t blend seamlessly with the rest of my hair. I have black hair, very glossy. But after applying this to the roots, the area of application was less glossy than the rest of my hair. It was quick to use and not too messy. I don’t have huge areas of grey to cover so I found the amount in the box to be more than adequate, even with thick hair. I’m just less likely to purchase this as it leaves the roots a little dull. I can’t comment on price as I received this as a product to trial. I’d recommend this to others but not someone with very shiny/glossy hair.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found this product easy to use, it smelt pleasing and was a good creamy consistency so it was no mess. The brush that comes with the product makes the job efficient. While it covered grey hair nicely there was no where near enough product for me. I found the colour to blend really well and coverage was good. It was also really nice to not have to spend half the night waiting for activation time. This product would be great for ladies with small amount of grey regrowth. I would recommend this product to the right people knowing they would be extremely happy with the results.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A little disappointed [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to try Clairol Root Touch-Up Permanent Crème in Reddish brown as I get greys and was looking to try something to cover them in between my visits to my hairdresser. I have to say I have mixed feelings about this product. It has so much going for it and promised so much but honestly I was left a little disappointed. It is a really easy to use and I absolutely loved that I could touch up my greys with ease using the brush applicator and I did it with ease and no mess whatsoever which I loved. There was none of that horrible smell that you get so often with hair dyes instead it was a pleasant smell and nothing like a strong chemical smell. I waited the 10 minutes for the colour to work and then rinsed and dried my hair. I was a little deflated as it didn’t work as well as I thought. I’m not sure if it’s because I have very thick curly hair or it just isn’t a strong enough dye. I think for some people it will be a fantastic product but just not for me.

It comes with 2 small bottles that just about covered my roots (I have very fine hair) and might not be enough for someone with fuller hair. The colour blended well with my natural colour, however it washed out quicker than expected. Would recommend it to leave on for a bit longer, maybe 30-40 minutes. For just being a touch up, I would also have expected it to be a lot cheaper than the full on colour, but it’s still worth it. For someone who just wants something quick and easy, this is a good product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This didn't change my regrowth very much, if at all, even though I did leave it on for a long time. It Has made the regrowth a dulled brown but definitely not blonde or lightened by shades. It has lightened the rest of my hair which was bleached but not really happy with the look of the regrowth now. Probably more effective on naturally lighter hair as the hairdresser strips my colour back 8 shades from natural. It was easy to apply and use which is a plus, compared to other products I have purchased/trialled !

Unfortunately I wasn't too impressed by the product a couple of weeks after using it. It was great for the first two weeks but I think the leave in time of 10 minutes doesn't help the product to develop properly as the bits of grey I tried to cover with it ended up turning a light shade of brown. The product itself was quite easy to use and apply but I was a bit alarmed when I first mixed it up as usually with packet dyes, the mix turns the colour you're actually applying to your hair but for some reason this stayed a caramel colour so I was wondering if it would in fact touch up my roots. The colour ended up turning dark brown once it had been sitting in my hair for a couple of minutes and it actually matched the colour of my hair which made me really happy but the long term outcome in between touch ups wasn't a favourable one so I don't really recommend this product.

Easy to follow instructions. The not so good - too little product to do complete job - my hair is think and short so root touch up needed to be all over - top, sides and back. Colour takes longer than 10 minutes - left mine for 30 and found that it has blended the colour so may be able to get away with it for a few weeks. Some greys still remain. Overall found that for the effort required I might as well do a full colour but if you have long hair I can see the point in being able to touch up without recolouring a whole head of hair.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a cruelty free product and not super effective There's too much waste in terms of packaging and a brush which is thrown away after one use. I found 10 minutes wasn't long enough to cover greys but my hair felt and looked a bit fresher after I had used this product. I bought this because I couldn't find an alternative. I'm on the lookout for an animal-friendly version of this so I hope not to buy this again. Chemist Warehouse, please find ways to offer your loyal customers a more environmentally friendly and cruelty free product. There are lots of nature- and animal- lovers out here and many of us want to dye our hair too, you know! Thank you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from VERY DISAPPOINTING [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I trialled the Clairol Root Touch-Up Permanent Crème in Medium Blonde 8. I didn't really like the picture of the hair colour on the box as it seemed to be a strawberry blonde shade more than a medium blonde. I have naturally greying medium brown hair underneath my dyed honey blonde hair. I did really love the application brush, though it is slightly hard to hold due to the small size.. I left it on for 15 min first time with no result. Then 30 min for the second attempt, Rinsed with water but it still didn't cover any grey or make any difference at all except for a strawberry blonde look that didn't blend in whatsoever with my blonde hair. Considering the box states to leave in for 10 min then rinse, i would seriously doubt any change to anyone's hair. Also , I must say, for the price i would expect more than a tiny little Tube and Activator bottle. Very disappointed! Sorry Guys but i just can't recommend this product.

Colour tube and peroxide bottle are very small too. The product does not have the offensive smell like most permanent colours have. Very easy to mix and it was great to have a mixing bowl included as well. But as I suspected definitely not enough product to cover all my regrowth which was only 4 weeks worth. Surprised that processing time was only 10-15 mins but once washed off the grey coverage that was advertised was not very good it only blended the greys instead of full colour coverage.

You get the tiniest tube of colour and developer it is not enough to do the roots on your whole head. I got the light blonde shade and the 10min time to develop is not enough at all, 40min later and my roots are still brown. I now look like I am going for 90s grunge blonde with patchy regrowth. Just buy the full sized colour product.
