1. What is a hair cuticle?
The hair cuticle is the outermost part of the hair shaft. It's comprised of overlapping cells that resemble fish scales. It's there to protect the inner layers of your hair (like the follicle) from damage and provides shine.

2. What are the benefits of hair gloss?
Shine is the ultimate sign of hair health. When hair is damaged, the cuticles lift and become misaligned. The surface becomes rough and porous, with a Limited ability to reflect the light. As a result, hair has a dull, lifeless appearance. By contrast, healthy hair has a smooth surface with seamlessly sealed cuticles that reflect light and give it radiant shine.

3. Why Glycolic Acid for hair?
Now proven for your hair, glycolic acid brings a double glossing action that firstly, restores the hair fibre from the inside to improve its quality, and secondly, seals the hair with a lasting shiny glaze.

4. How do I use the Glycolic Gloss range?
Our at home glossing service can be incorporated daily into your hair routine, or between washes for a gloss that lasts through 10 shampoos*. Begin with our Shampoo and Conditioner. Follow this with our 5 Minute Lamination Rinse-Off, and finally coat with our Leave-in Serum.

*instrumental test after application of the shampoo, conditioner and lamination treatment.

General Information

Discover our 1st at-home glossing treatment powered by Glycolic Acid which is ideal for dull, porous hair.

Healthy hair shines beauty because the surface is smooth, allowing light to reflect effortlessly. However, damaged hair cause the cuticles to become rough, porous and lackluster, hindering light reflection. Our 1st at-home glossing treatment enriched with Glycolic Acid restores the hair fiber from within, significantly enhancing hair quality and sealing the hair with lasting shine. A hair transformation that lasts through 10 Shampoos* 80% agree it leaves hair healthy** 80% agree it leaves hair smooth** *Instrumental test after application of shampoo+ conditioner+ lamination treatment **Consumer test, 190 women after 3 weeks of application

Directions

Apply a generous amount of this hair care product on wet hair, to seal it with a shine glaze from lengths to tips. Leave on for 5 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent gloss 3.5 stars [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When used with part of the glycolic gloss range, it did leave my hair smoother both immediately after and for several days afterwards. I love the scent (sweet perfume) but I find the application a bit tedious as you have to wash your hair first, dry it slightly then leave this in for 5 minutes before rinsing it out again - I can see myself not bothering to do this if I'm tired / rushing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Leave in serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did like the product but it seemed to make my hair frizzy. Has a nice scent

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sticks to hair hard to move [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Clumps in areas, was hard to move smoothly from lengths to tips of hair. Like the conditioner has a lot of residue that just made me feel uncomfortable

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Something different - but worth a go! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've never used a product like this before - I'm normally just a shampoo and conditioner type of gal. But as part of trialling the complete range and with the promise of it only taking an extra five minutes for added smoothness, I gave it a shot. After squinting to see the instructions, I applied just a little to my long, coloured hair. It went on smoothly and easily and, like the other products in the range, smelled delicious. It spread well, all the way through to the ends and felt nice on my hair. The five (okay maybe four) minutes passed pretty quickly and it rinsed off well. I could feel the difference in my hair, both while still wet and when blowdrying. It felt easier to get the brush through my hair and afterwards my locks - with their dry, frizzy ends - were smooth and calmer. While I can't guarantee I'd always spend the extra money and time for this extra step (kind of like using a toner in a skin care routine) I can see the benefits, especially for hair like mine. So overall, I would recommend.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As with the serum, shampoo and conditioner this also had a quite plesent smell. I do have quite frizzy hair and after use my hair was less frizzy. After use my hair did look a little bit more shiny but with continued use it didnt do anything to the actual condition of my hair. As with the serum i feel that there are other products for a lot cheaper that do a way better job. In saying that if i someone asked me if i think they should try it, i would say give it a go because it might work better for them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Of the glycolic range, this is in my opinion the best product. Though I’m not really entirely sure of its point, it made my hair smooth and frizz free. I didn’t find it particularly nourishing. I have fairly straight and manageable hair but I can imagine that it would be great for someone with more frizzy, untameable hair. It didn’t really make my hair any glossier than usual though, so didn’t live up to its marketing claims. It’s an okay product, I don’t think I’d purchase it and continue to use it though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No difference really [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you for the opportunity to trial the L'Oréal Paris Elvive Gloss 5 Minute lamination. The product comes in stylish and pretty packaging which looks great in my bathroom. The packaging size is smaller than I expected, I prefer a larger size. I found it very hard to squeeze out of the bottle and the bottle remained dinted after i had squeezed out the product. I'm not really convinced this did anything. My hair felt great already after the conditioner and this felt like it didn't achieve much more. It did however smell lovely and my hair was maybe a little shinier. I would not recommend this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from its nice, but you can do better [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] truthfully I was a bit skeptical about this product as I have never used any extra "in-shower" treatments other than my regular shampoo and conditioner. I made sure to give it a fair shot though - I used it as both part of the 4 step glycolic range and also with my usual hair products. it doesn't really do much when used with your regular shampoo and conditioner. this is to be expected but is a bit disappointing if you didn't want to pay $60+ for the full range. it works when paired with the glycolic shampoo and conditioner and my hair was definitely looked salon-worthy (my friends even assumed I had a haircut!) but I'm not sure I would justify paying that much money for this product. some positives though - it comes in a decent size bottle and smells amazing!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from it was okay [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this with the combination with the shampoo and conditioner. I have to say that this product was just okay. Not saying it is bad, but I did not notice any significance improvement when I used it and without it. I loved just the shampoo and conditioner along, and the scent of this was great. It does require a lot of product if you have really long hair (which I did have). So for such a product, it should come with more product as it does specify you need a generous amount My hair has been quite dry and brittle since I have bleached my hair last year. So this year I have been trying different combinations to try and recover my hair

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Suited for drier hair [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is just ok. I have blonde coloured treated hair and I did find that it controlled my frizz and make my hair shinier after using. I found styling to be a bit difficult after using this product as my roots appeared to get oily a lot quicker and I found that my style dropped and look lank throughout the day. The product does smell nice and the consistency is nice. It wasn't for me but if you have drier, more unruly hair, you may really enjoy using to tame frizz and curls. Again I feel there are better treatment or hair masks out there for me personally that deliver more results and don't leave my hair oily wor with product build up

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Heavy [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the L'Oréal Paris Elvive Glycolic Gloss 5 minute Lamination for the past few week in conjunction with the other L'Oréal Paris Elvive Glycolic Gloss. Unfortionitly I did not see huge benefits with this range to my hair. I have bleached thin frizzy hair and it really weighted my hair down and made it feel like it needed washing again alot sooner. So it is not ideal to continue to use. The product itself is in a nice bottle / packaging and smells good. I will most likely not continue to use this product going forward.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from its okay [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have enjoyed trialling the shampoo, conditioner, laminating treatment and glossing treatment in this range as part of the reviewcrew. The laminating treatment is a pale pink colour, creamy in consistency and is supposed to be applied after the shampoo and conditioner for 5 minutes before rinsing. It has quite a chemically scent (similar to the shampoo) but thankfully does not linger long after rinsing as I am not a fan of the scent. Upon application it does feel like it is softening and smoothing the hair. I don't find it overly moisturizing however, upon rinsing my hair was still on the dry/damaged side. I found it easy to rinse out with no residue left behind. I have taken off a star as I only got 3-4 uses out of this bottle; my hair is waist length and thick so I needed to use quite a bit. This is an okay product, better suited to healthier hair types. For me I don't think the end results justify the minimal amount of uses (and price tag for those uses).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's ok [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been trialling the new Glycolic Gloss Range for the past few weeks and I have used the shampoo, conditioner & leave-in serum 3 or 4 times and the 5-minute lamination once. With the 5-minute lamination, it has a beautiful smell which isn’t overpowering. I do a double shampoo before I go in with the conditioner and then I apply this and leave in for the 5 minutes. My hair does feel shinier and I have less frizz. I do however feel like my hair feels oily and weighed down quicker. I will continue to use the range, but I don’t think I would buy it again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as great I hoped [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had high hopes for this. I wanted to love this but it didn’t love me. I found if I used all the other products and not this, my hair was amazing for days. But when I used this, my hair was knotty, messy and just plain untamed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gimmic [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 3 step process of this line is not worth your time! This product made my hair feel dry and like plastic after use so much so I had to do a deep hair mask afterward to restore the moisture in my hair! The after shine serum is the biggest gimmic and is simply filled with shimmer powder to give the effect of shine not that your hair is actually shining from within. Don’t waste your time or money on this line.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Useless didn’t do anything [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tested this product 5 times after shampooing and conditioning for 2 weeks and didn’t notice any changes at all. I also don’t like the fact you have to have it sit in your hair for 5 minutes. In the shower that wastes a lot of time/water. It is a nice colour and the packaging is pretty but I wouldn’t recommend it. No significant fragrance in my hair next day either.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Smells great but benefits aren’t so great [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you for the opportunity to trial the L'Oréal Paris Elvive Gloss 5 Minute lamination. They’ve made this range look really cute. I really enjoyed the smell of this range, it’s to die for. I really loved having my hair have that fragrance to it. But I'm not really convinced this did anything to my hair, I think it got slightly shinier but there might be some more impactful products on the market. My hair felt great already after the conditioner and this felt like it didn't achieve much more. I don’t think it’s worth the money to buy this as it didn’t really do a whole lot to my hair.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the really great for curly hair [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I trailed this serum as part of the Glycolic Gloss care range for the past few weeks. While it looks cute and shiny and does have a really good, it did nothing for my hair in regards to to shine. It has a very heavy texture for me and it left my hair, which is naturally curly, feeling very dry and hard to style. For me the product felt too heavy. Normally the hair serums I use help make my hair feel less frizzy or dry without causing them to be greasy. But this did not have the same effect. As soon I applied any heat to my hair after using the serum, my hair looked quite greasy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Silk smoothy but weighs hair down [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After a few weeks of using the lore elvive glycolic gloss lamination, I found it really weighted down my hair. It also created a reaction on my scalp, potentially due to the oils in the products. I have thick coloured hair and it definetly felt nice after washing. Although a few days after it felt heavy and oily. It did leave my hair very shiny especially alongside with other loreal elvive glycolic products. It did have a nice smell and packaging was rather nice. I didn't notice that some of the ingredients of the range include water insoluble silicones, which I tend to stay away from due to potential build up after filing the hair and then sometimes leaving the hair feeling lack lustre or damaged. I think this range really would potentially suit those who have curly hair or want their hair noticeably silky smooth, don't have issues with products that weight down the hair or oils. I myself won't continue to use this product due to the heaviness that it leaves on my hair, but suggest it's worth a try.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bummer [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Would not recommend for fine curly hair. Made my hair so dry and unmanageable that I wasn't even able to brush my fingers through after I rinsed out the gloss treatment after i had shampooed my hair It was so dry that multiple hair masks/treatments wouldn't bring the moisture back into my hair. Took a few washes without this shampoo to be able to brush my hair without it tangling and knotting. There was no difference between the shine or how the hair looked So dissapointed had very high hopes for this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It’s okay but nothing special [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been trialling this product, along with the rest of the range for a few weeks. The idea of a in-shower gloss really piqued my interested. The formula was quite thick and spread well throughout my hair. It smells beautiful and was lovely to use. I would shampoo twice, condition and then apply, as directions stated. I found using this after condition did weigh down my hair and make it quite limp and lanky. I didn’t necessarily see any extra shine or gloss. When I didn’t use it in lieu of conditioner it did work much better. Hair was soft and shiny but not much difference from just using the shampoo and conditioner from this range alone. I felt this product was not needed and an extra step, time and effort without much pay off
Date published: 2024-05-31
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the best gloss [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This made no difference to my hair apart from making it slightly softer. Like all the products in this range, it is heavily fragranced and you will smell the products long after you have rinsed them out in the shower. This is meant to be a gloss / lamination treatment, but I didn't really see this effect. My hair wasn't more manageable, and the frizz was still very visible. While this is a lightweight product, I didn't find myself reaching for it. I dont think this is worth the money, and I wouldn't recommend it because it really doesn't make that much of a difference.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good product if you don't heat style your hair [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was fortunate to get on the trial team for the L'Oréal Paris Elvive Glycolic Gloss 5 minute Lamination product, and used it in conjunction with the shampoo, conditioner and serum in the range. When combining the shampoo and conditioner with the lamination product I found my hair was noticeably softer and even more silky. Although some people may like this, I did find it made my hair harder to style, as my curls were dropping as my hair was substantially softer than usual. As such, I would only recommend this product to people who don’t heavily style their hair with the blow dryer or hot styling tools, as I found my style didn’t stay in place for long, in comparison to if I just used the shampoo and conditioner.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from L'Oréal Elvive Glycolic Gloss [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product smelled fantastic but I'm not really sure it did anything for my hair. It also left a slimy film on the bottom of the shower which was hard to clean. I wouldn't recommend this product, just stick to a good hair mask instead.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too heavy for thick hair [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using this L’Oréal range for a few weeks now and I have to say I would prefer to use the shampoo and conditioner on their own. This product leaves my hair feeling very heavy and oily. Almost like I need to wash my hair again the following day, especially if I don’t blow dry my hair and let it dry naturally. I probably wouldn’t purchase it again, however I think this product could work quite well if your hair is particularly dry or if you have a dry scalp. I have very thick hair and this product is just a bit too heavy for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from May work better for others, made no difference. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been testing this range of products for a month, I have found it didn’t work well for myself. I’m not sure what this product is supposed to do mainly because it made absolutely no difference when I used it compared to just using the shampoo and conditioner on their own. Also I don’t wash my hair excessively only twice a week with my usual products so I only used this once as it states after every 10 washes. Although if I was to wash when it gets oily with these products I’d be washing every second day personally which is not what I’d like to do. This may work for others but unfortunately not for myself.
