This cream was light and refreshing, and definitely oil free as the description said. It is a gel-type texture that sunk in really easily and quickly, with no streaks or difficulty being absorbed over serums. However, even when freshly applied, it didn’t feel hydrating enough for my dry skin. After just a few short minute my skin was tight. This gel might be good for tropical climates, where you just need something light and refreshing as it’s already humid. But for dry climates this gel isn’t hydrating enough.

A little goes and long way and the packaging is sturdy and generous. It sat beautifully under my suncream and left my skin feeling hydrated and dewy. It was easy to disperse on my skin and took no time at all to absorb. I however have dry skin so I wouldn't use this as a night time cream as I woke up feeling a tad dry. I would definitely recommend this for morning use or for someone who doesn't have a problem with dry skin. I would buy this again as a base for my daytime regime.

However, the product does not sit will with my other products, especially under makeup. It pills quite badly when paired with skin tints and concealers. I now only use the product at night, when it is the last product to be used in a routine. It feels very similar to other water based moisturisers, however sometimes can leave my skin feeling tight which makes me want to layer a thicker moisturiser on top

Used solely at night, I loved it and would repurchase for evening use, not daytime use. If you like hydra-gel type products from other brands, you will love this product! I think it works well as a single-layer product or with an additional layer at night. Feels a little like using a sheet mask too, which is lovely. It's just such a shame it doesn't pair well with my holy grail sunscreen.

I have dry skin and this does give me the hydration that I definitely need but because it is a gel it leaves my skin feeling too sticky afterwards which I don’t really enjoy too much. It is a good product though and works well as a base underneath foundation. The packaging is sleek and looks good being on display in the bathroom. I noticed that a little bit does go a long way. I would recommend this product for someone with dry skin

I have dry skin and I love a good moisturiser! I was really excited for this product because I really like water gel moisturisers. This product feels cool when first applied to my skin and rubs in really nicely and smoothly. There isn’t any obvious fragrance which is what I like about it. Unfortunately in my experience, I found this water gel to leave my skin feeling slightly tacky. Almost as though I need to follow it with a creamy moisturiser. I do think my skin feels smooth afterwards and does look hydrated, without any obvious signs of dryness which is fantastic, but I can’t get past that tacky feeling. A little goes a long way when using this and the tub will last you a while. It is a good price point for that reason.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Alex C. from Good product, though not quite for me [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This face “gel” is a light feeling water gel that feels refreshing on the face and really does restore a hydrated “plump” feeling to my skin after using. I typically use this as my last step as a moisturiser after I cleanse, tone, and use a serum. Like other Cetaphil products, it doesn’t have a super strong scent which I like too. A little really does go a long way with this product too, which means the product will last a long time. The gel stays tacky for about 10 minutes before settling, which is great as I hate going to sleep with a sticky face. Sadly, the main reason I am not rating it 5 stars is because almost every time I use this product, I wake up with a little “breakout” on my nose, not actual pimples but tiny little red fluid filled spots - so I think there’s an ingredient in this specific product that doesn’t agree with me/the skin on my nose which is strange as I haven't reacted to other Cetaphil products like this. Ultimately I WOULD recommend this product if you're NOT sensitive to skincare products as weirdly the rest of my face really takes this gel well - it helps my skin feel really nourished, and my foundation seems to slide on smoothly too, particularly where I have those finer lines and drier spots on my cheeks. So if you have hypersensitive areas like me, I probably would skip this one. But if you find you generally take different skincare products well, this is worth a go!

It absorbed easily and made my skin feel soft. It didn't feel sticky so is good under makeup. You don't need much so best to just start with a small amount and work your way up from there. That being said it means the product will last for quite a while. It's a decent price for a good brand name moisturiser and while it was good to try, I didn't really love it and although it says day and night, I prefer a richer night cream.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anastassia T. from sadly not for me [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recieved this to trial as part of the reviewcrew and was so excited, I had heard so much about polyglutamic acid and absaloutley love a good hyaluronic acid based product. For referrence my skin type is normal bordering on dry and it generally seems to prefer richer creams for moisturisers. This moisturiser has a silky smooth gel consistency that I wanted to love but it, for me, did have a slight stickiness and tackiness to it. I found that I needed to use quite a bit of product per use as it was not overly hydrating for my skin type, my skin still felt like it was craving moisture, it still felt on the dry side. I wanted to like this moisturiser but for me personally it does not seem suited to my skin which is a shame as my skin adored the cleanser that I was sent to trial along with it (the hydrating foaming cleanser). Perhaps this would work better for others; I did not notice anything overly negative with the product (no irritation, breakouts etc) my skin was just left craving more moisture so for this reason I am giving this moisturiser a neutral review, it was interesting to trial but I do not think it is suited to my skin personally.

This product delivers on its promise of optimal hydration without the greasy feel. Its gel formula feels refreshing upon application and absorbs quickly, making it ideal for both daytime and nighttime use. My skin feels instantly hydrated and not tacky after application. The standout feature is its ability to provide long-lasting moisture whilst using morning and night. My skin feels plump and quenched throughout the day, and I've noticed a significant improvement in overall skin texture. I have dry and sensitive skin. I found that this product whilst gentle, still caused some irritation on my drier/more sensitive areas. On initial application I had slight tingling/burning sensation around my nose and chin. This did fade away quickly however, and did not cause any visible impacts. The packaging of this product is sleek and easy to use from the tub container. I also think it is very affordable for the effectiveness of the product

Did it leave my skin feeling soft and smooth? Also yes. Is it affordable? Yes. So what's the problem? Why 3 stars? I used this product for about 2 weeks and really enjoyed it, but I hated having it underneath my make up. The gel goes on very nicely with no scent but I felt it left a tacky feeling to my skin which was terrible to apply any make up on. I tried using less or waiting longer but was never very happy. So I swapped to using it at night only. I loved how affordable this gel was and also how nice it left my skin feeling, I'm unsure if I would use this again and hope Cetaphil will do a similar product as a cream. There was certainly an improvement in my skin after using this gel.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First look of the product and I loved the packaging, looked super simple yet elegant at the same time. I had paired it with the Cetaphil Hydrating Foaming Cream Cleanser to get the best results. I did like how the product had a tightening effect. It’d be great for long term use and definitely make aging seem less prominent. However I wasn’t the biggest fan of how it moisturised my skin. The product seemed to leave my skin sort of sticky which isn’t ideal in moisturiser I like. I don’t believe it had the best moisturising aspect in moisturisers I’ve tried as it did leave my skin feeling sort of dry by the next day. However the tightening effect would make me highly recommend it for someone with mature skin as I believe over time wrinkles and aging would be less prominent. At the end of the trial, I would say this product is not personally for me. However, I definitely do see potential for it in other clientele.

I somewhat enjoyed the Cetaphil Optimal Hydration Skin Replenishing Water Gel and found that combined with the Cetaphil Hydrating Foaming Cream Cleanser and an oil cleanser, it somewhat moisturised my skin. When combined with the cleanser it worked okay to keep my skin hydrated. I used this product twice a day but did not enjoy the unhygienic packaging. Overall I would not purchase this product again. Thank you for sending me this gel as part of the Trial Team. I may continue to use this in my routine but it's definitely not mindblowing, and found it somewhat moisturised my Retinoid sensitised skin.

The pros- very light weight, didnt irritate my skin, not heavily fragranced, wasnt the worst product i have ever used. The cons- a little sticky, nil fragrance just very bland and clinical,not the best product i have ever used. I will finish the tub because it is there but i will not rush out to buy again. Love the concept but just didnt deliver. Its not bad but just so many better products in the market.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Douaa A. from Smells strong [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I saw the Cetaphil skin replenishing water gel, I was excited to see that it has hyaluronic acid in it because I have loved using hyaluronic acid on my skin. With this water gel being from Cetaphil I expected it to soothe my skin when using it and keep my skin soft and moisturized. Unfortunately, when I used it, I noticed three things. 1. That it tingled my skin when I would apply it, especially after using the Cetaphil Hydrating foaming cleanser. 2. It smelt strong. I could still smell the product on my face more than 15 minutes after applying it. 3. At the end of the trial, I found that my skin was dryer than it usually was compared to the hyaluronic acid that I usually used (I had swapped out my normal hyaluronic acid with the Cetaphil skin replenishing water gel in my normal skincare routine.) Another thing to also note was the packaging. It looks really nice and high end, but I do think that putting it in a pump would be more user friendly, especially since the gel consistency was more on the liquidly side.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the cetaphil Optimal Hydration Skin Replenishing water gel for a few weeks now. While my skin does feel hydrated and I had no reactions to this product, my skin also felt sticky once the cream was applied and for quite some time after which I found annoying. If you don't like the feeling of a sticky face, I would not recommend, but if you dont mind that initial sticky feeling and want great hydration, then this is for you. The packaging is great in a nice little glass jar, which is easy to use.

It has a lovely gel-like texture which is what I tend to look for in a moisturiser. It goes onto the skin smoothly and sinks in leaving the skin hydrated immediately. Unfortunately, I found that once it dried, it felt quite matte on the skin. I have pretty normal skin but I imagine for someone with drier skin, this could be an issue. It also didn't play very well with makeup. As the moisturiser tended to dry quite matte, I found it hard for my light coverage foundation to blend in and instead, it was very patchy and pilled in areas. I haven't had this problem in the past with moisturisers. I ended up only being able to use it on days I wasn't wearing makeup. I think I would recommend this product to someone needing hydration but also with an oilier skin type who doesn't mind a drier, matte finish.

I did not feel that it can me the same results as my current product/s I use. The feeling of putting it on the skin felt really nice but I didn't feel the hydration that I am used to. In the end i gave this product to my daughter to use to get another opinion. She really likes it and wants me to buy it again for her. So maybe i am just a little fussy in the products i use or like what i like and prefer not to change it. The packing looked really nice and i had really high hopes for this product as i had always wanted to try something from this brand. But i think i will stick to what i currently use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Mary N. from Perfect coverage ,hard to wash [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The packaging of the product was great and professional and also the colors suits the product , I loved the textuew of the product ,it was easy to apply and I dont need to use a lot ,a little of the gel covers all my skin , it was full coverage and it was a kind of cooling on skin , the problem I had with this product was after using ,when I want to wash it , it was too hard , it was too sticky and takes too much time to wipe it .I would prefer this product absorb quickly as it is water gel but it does not absorb it stays on skin so hard

It did feel hydrating on application however, my skin felt dry and tight when the product dried on my skin. Naturally having a combination oily skin. The gel was nice and cooling, it had a thin and light consistency and felt smooth on the skin but sadly for me it didn’t leave my skin feeling hydrating. I feel the water gel wasn’t suitable for my skin type and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone looking for a hydrating product.

I found the consistency a little too thick to what I'm used to and tried using a smaller amount but ultimately it was the after feeling that was a letdown for me. My skin appearance was good, and it calmed any redness I can get from after cleansing my face and the texture of my skin seemed to have improved.
