It was quick to mix up in the bottle though care needs to be taken to ensure it doesn’t flow out the top after taking the cap off. There was no mess in applying and the coverage over grey hairs was solid. A little more mixture would add greater coverage but generally, there was enough colour to cover the prominent regrowth areas for a quick, emergency touch up between regular colouring times.

The process of mixing the colour and applying it took much less time than it usually takes me. I'm really impressed with how easy it is to use. The soft applicator brush is an excellent tool and makes the application process a lot quicker, and easier, and covers the roots better. I was really pleased that there was no mess! No colour drops on my vanity, floor, or mirror. It was so clean! I have very resistant grey hair so I left it on for an extra five minutes. I found it really nice not to have to wait the usual 45 minutes for developing time. The colour came out quite well. It didn't totally cover my roots, but I had a lot of grey roots to start with, and as mentioned, they are very resistant, so considering that, I'm happy with the result and it is definitely something I can use for a quick root touch up in between full colours. Overall, I'm really pleased with how quick it is to use, the cleanliness, and result!

My grey hairs are most obvious around the sides of my face just above the ears. I found the product easy to apply with minimal preparation and mess. It covered my grey hairs well and will take me through to my next cut and colour.

Was a bit difficult to only apply to roots. With a whole head cover I don't have to worry about only cover a section of the hair.

I have very thick hair so the quantity wasn’t really sufficient. I love the applicator as it’s very convenient, a larger size would be better. The shade I received was probably too light for my hair to cover the grey “skunk line”(as I like to call it!) central part to my hair.

The brown colour was good. However, after ten minutes the brown colour did not fully penetrate into my hair, as with other hair touch up products I have tried, which normally require the solution to be on the hair for twenty minutes. I think, if I had left the solution for a longer period of time, I would have received better results. After washing my hair a week later, the colour in roots has remained. Overall, I would rate this product as just ok.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Retouch colouring kit [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the L’Oreal Paris Magic Retouch Permanent Root Touch Up Dye Kit to sample. I have always seen these on the shelves at the stores and have often wondered what they’d be like. So I put it to the test. I had lots of grey regrowth around my hairline, so here goes. I waited 10 minutes then washed it out. Unfortunately the dye didn’t take and the greys remained. As I have short hair, I didn’t use all of the dye, so I reapplied what was left. After the 2nd application, the greys faded a little but not a total coverage. It was better than what it was but I’m not convinced that I’d buy the product. Maybe if my hair colour was lighter and not brown it maybe different. Thank you for allowing the opportunity to test this product

The brush gets right into the roots but can be more messier than using the precision tip as when you squeeze too hard the dye drips from the sides of the brush. I added the extra time to cover greys. Colour was pretty exact to the box. Product wasn't as stinky as some other brands. This is ONLY a touch-up and only enough to do the front of your hair and a little bit on the top of your head where your part goes. Definitely not enough to do all your roots. For the same cost you could buy a hair dye with enough product to do your whole head that comes with a conditioner as well. If you need a quick touch up and are really pressed for time and don't have the extra 20 minutes that a normal hair dye requires then this product is for you. For the same cost and effort I'd rather do my whole head and have to wait an extra 20 minutes or so and then use the added conditioner treatment that makes you hair so soft.

Also the aroma was very pleasant. The brush applicator made it extremely easy to apply. I’m not sure I would buy this again because it didn’t cover all of my grey hairs, but I would also recommend others to give it a go.
