Information

General Information

Dermatological hydrating repair serum for dry, sensitive skin.

The Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum is La Roche Posay's first dermatological serum with 10% Vitamin B5. With an efficient hydrating formula, the Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum has been specifically developed for dry skin prone to redness, skin tightness or discomfort. When used daily, the dry skin serum helps to hydrate and maintain the skin moisture barrier. Enriched with a highly concentrated humectant Vitamin B5 to help increase hydration and reduce trans-epidermal water loss, the skin repair serum formula also contains HEPES to help stimulate skin renewal, reinforce the moisture barrier, and comfort skin. The formula includes ingredients that are known to support the skin against everyday environmental aggressors like air pollution, temperature changes, low humidity and dryness. It also helps with topical irritations such as over-use of active ingredients and superficial skin procedures. The combination of hydrating and repair ingredients is also beneficial for skin impacted by lifestyle changes (lack of sleep, stress, poor diet). • La Roche-Posay have formulated this Cicaplast serum for dry and sensitive skin, however it is ideal to use on all skin types. • Use the skin repair serum daily for best results. • Suitable for use on post-superficial skin procedures on face. The La Roche-Posay Cicaplast serum for dry skin has been dermatologically tested to ensure suitability of the serum for sensitive skin types. The formula is hypoallergenic, fragrance free and non-comedogenic making it suitable for all skin types that need the added hydration and skin moisture barrier support. TEXTURE The Cicaplast B5 Repair Serum Is: • Lightweight • Fast absorbing • Non-sticky finish • Silky and Non-greasy texture Please note, the skin repair serum forms a protective film on the skin upon application, however, can ensure a non-sticky lightweight feel to the skin. KEY INGREDIENTS Repairing - 10% Vitamin B5 - Also known as Panthenol, Vitamin B5 is a humectant that attracts moisture from its surroundings and is able to lock in moisture within the skin. Vitamin B5 for skin is used to help support and maintain the skin moisture barrier. Due to its capability to attract and retain moisture, using Vitamin B5 helps soften skin, keeping it moist and helps prevent dryness. Vitamin B5 supports the skin moisture barrier through hydration, and reduces trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL), helping to reduce dryness and associated itchiness and discomfort. 10% Vitamin B5 has been added to the repair serum formula to hydrate and repair dry sensitive skin. Refining - HEPES - HEPES helps to gently exfoliate dead skin cells that are bound to the surface of the skin, refining clogged pores and uneven texture resulting in a smoother skin texture. HEPES has been used in the formulation to help even skin tone and refine skin texture. Soothing - Aqua Posae Filiformis (APF) - This prebiotic skincare is used to help rebalance the skin microbiome.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from better than the cicaplast cream [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't expect to like this as I previously used the cream version and it didn't do much to my skin and actually irritated my broken barrier skin. The cicaplast b5 serum works a lot better, used after cleanser, and before moisturiser. It made my skin feel plump and soft to the touch. My skin is normally dry, sensitive, red and irritated from being eczema prone. This didn't trigger a flare-up which is a plus. I tried the serum on its own to make sure I didn't have a reaction and eventually incorporated it into my skincare routine with other serums. I recommend using it with other water-based serums.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice light serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you to Beauty Heaven for my trial product. I found this serum to help my really dry flakey skin. It's been a tough winter for my skin with extra cold weather drying out my sensitive skin a bit more than usual. The serum is absorbed quickly without needing a lot and doesn't leave a greasy or sticky feel. I only used at night after cleansing and found the next morning that my skin was hydrated and feeling nice. I could detect a faint/mild chemical scent which didn't linger. I also noticed a slight shiny appearance to my skin. Overall, there was no improvement to my skin apart from it being hydrated. The dropper was a bit fiddly to use and doesn't always draw up enough serum after several squeezes. Also, you can't see the serum level through the white glass bottle so it's hard to tell how much is left. Made in France.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Feels nice [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m so glad I tried a serum from this nice reputable brand I’ve wanted to try for a long time. This wonderful serum applied morning and evening is the ultimate in giving the skin a wonderful dermatological repair feeling. It’s beautifully rich and creamy and easily applied with the great applicator. It goes on like magic due to its hydrating and concentrated formula. The 10% vitamin B5 gives added assurances of being beneficial for repair of the skin. The formula is indeed non sticky and smooth as silk. A beautiful product. I’m so happy with the effects which were a pleasant surprise. I intend to keep using with my routine. It’s a great replacement of my other similar products. It’s an ideal size to hold. I recommend to anyone wanting to try. I love that it’s made in France. It would be on my list to buy this serum. Only needed a smaller amount which is easier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Results with perseverance [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used a number of La Roche Posay products with great success so I was looking forward to trialling the Cicaplast B5 Serum, but after the first ten days I was sitting on the fence swaying back and forwards deciding whether I liked it or not. The milky coloured serum is packaged in a white glass bottle with a dropper. The glass dropper is super annoying because not enough serum is drawn up into the dropper. I also found using this particular dropper to be a bit messy. The serum spreads easily over my skin and dries down quickly. I applied the serum each morning and evening for a week but then continued to use it only during my morning skincare routine. I don’t know why, but I seemed to lose my morning glow after using this serum at night. During the first couple of weeks I tried a few different night and day cream type moisturisers because each one I used caused pilling (as did sunscreen) and it wasn’t until I started using a lotion moisturiser that I could see better results. It then felt like the serum and moisturiser were being absorbed into my skin and my skin looked more nourished, calmer and brighter. Although my skin has remained firm and plump during the trial, changing to the lotion moisturiser changed my opinion on how effective the serum is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Calming but not sold on ingredients [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This serum is a really nice silky texture (thanks to the dimethicone) and absorbs well into the skin. The high levels of humectants definitely work to increase the levels of hydration in the skin and provide a more ‘dewy’ glow. I noticed a visible difference to the plumpness and juiciness of my skin after just one use. The negatives around this product are the high amounts of silicones and alcohol. It seems counterintuitive to have a ‘calming’ product contain so much alcohol. If you are very sensitive to alcohols, or unsure of the long term effects of using alcohols and silicones in skincare products, this may not be for you. It does provide an instant glow so I would definitely recommend using this in the AM as a primer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hydrating and smoothing [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The serum comes in a 30ml opaque white bottle with an eyedropper applicator. Both the box and the bottle match in their design. Predominantly white with blue accents. I found the eyedropper application method easy to control the amount of serum required. A small amount was all that was needed and it went a long way. It also absorbed quickly into my skin. Don’t overdo it as the product will take longer to be absorbed. The serum is opaque white in colour and has a slightly viscous consistency. I use the serum in the mornings and at night after cleansing and before applying a moisturiser. My skin tends to be sensitive and dry. This serum definitely helped with these issues. My skin feels hydrated, smooth and looks brighter. This product contains ten percent vitamin B5 to activate skin renewal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A serum with a light bulb moment effect [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The serum was presented in a recyclable box containing information about its aims, how it was applied, and its expectations. Although the image shown on part of the packaging's main front and side was of a serum with a dropper on the top, once opened, the serum was found with a screw on top and a dropper in a divided section of the box. The serum had a cloudy appearance with a slight scent. Once dispensed into my fingers using a clear, glass, flat-base dropper, the serum had a silky texture. Although the scent disappeared, an unexpected sticky texture was felt when the serum was pressed into the skin. However, after waiting the recommended time for the serum to be absorbed, not only had the sticky texture disappeared leaving these areas smooth but my skin was hydrated! After using the serum followed up by my usual skincare routine daily, for 2 weeks, there was a noticeable spark in my skin, possibly assisted by ingredients such as panthenol. One issue I had with the serum was in regards to the dropper. When squeezing the rubber end of the dropper, I was constantly frustrated that remaining serum couldn't be dispensed in full at the other end, leaving it clogged within the tube! If this end of the dropper was perhaps slightly wider then the serum could be dispensed with more ease. Although experiencing positive results from the serum, the only time I would purchase this product would be when it was on sale.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Visible results in a short time [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 ultra repair serum is an effective skin repair product. I used it for two weeks as recommended and the results are pleasing. It is fragrance free for sensitive skin, however I found that it had a clinical scent. I applied the serum morning and night before using my moisturiser. My skin felt instantly hydrated, smooth and looked healthier and bright. It felt a little sticky to start off with but once the serum dries after 30 seconds the moisturiser sinks right in. It has also helped my uneven and red skin tone. I have had no irritation when using this serum, so it's great for sensitive skin. It has a nice consistency and goes a long way. It feels clean and natural on my skin and makes my makeup look better. It is an extremely hydrating serum and I now don't have any dry patches on my face. The hydration lasts all day and I feel confident that this serum does everything I want it to to keep my skin looking great. Very happy with this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Welcome serum iteration of the renown B5 balm [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a lovely new addition to the LRP Cicaplast range. Those familiar with the original Cicaplast B5 balm will undoubtedly be expecting the same winning combination that includes 10% vitamin B5 as the hero ingredient. Also known as panthenol, B5 is a humectant that helps skin retain moisture. If you are expecting the same soothing and repairing capabilities of the B5 balm, this serum will not disappoint. The texture of this serum is different to the balm counterpart: it is much lighter and takes the form of a clear gloopy liquid, and when applied it can initially feel sticky but is fast-absorbing. It is instantly cooling and soothing. Over time, my skin feels and looks less aggravated. It is deliberately formulated without fragrance but it can occasionally smell sour, although it is not a scent that lingers at all. There is denatured alcohol in this formulation but it is plant derived and is not synthetic alcohol. Its inclusion is to help dissolve ingredients in the formulation and contributes to the lightweight texture and refreshing feel of the formulation. I personally do not think this is a real concern, even for sensitive skin types. My only complaint with this product is with the pipette. For me, this product would be perfect if the pipette had a narrower tip, as the combination of the gloopy texture of the formula and the current pipette result in the tendency for the product to spill over the opening of the bottle. I have to be careful each time I extract the serum or it will easily leak.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hydrated and soft skin. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have sensitive skin and have used some of La Roche-Posay's products in the past, and so, was very pleased to have the opportunity to trial the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 serum for dry, sensitive skin. The main ingredient being 10% vitamin B5 to help with skin renewal. The product helps to correct dryness, redness and discomfort, all of which I can attest to. Since using this fast absorbing non-sticky gel serum the patches of scaly skin on my nose and cheeks have disappeared and the discomfort of tight skin has also vanished. Results were noticeable after just a few days. After 3 weeks of use my skin feels lovely and hydrated with a much more even looking skin tone. I do feel that my skin is repairing and benefitting from continual use. The serum comes in a 30ml white glass bottle with a glass dropper. I do have a bit of an issue with the dropper finding that it does not fill properly or dispense the serum with ease. Would love to see this rectified in the future. Apply morning and evening .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from hydrating serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Serum is a highly concentrated moisturiisng serum that claims to repair and smooth the skin. It’s active ingredient – cicaplast B5 – is touted to create a moisture barrier and prevent skin flaking. I do get some flaky skin in the winter so would hope that this serum will help combat that. The packaging of the serum comes in a sturdy glass bottle with an extra dropper to get the serum out. I found the dropper to not be helpful in extracting the serum from the bottle; I used it to ‘scoop’ the serum out. The serum itself is quite viscous and milky in colour. I like the viscosity as it makes me believe that the serum creates a barrier to prevent dryness and hydrate my skin. I can’t smell a fragrance which is good for those who may have sensitive skin. I have noticed that my skin is moistured after use and don’t have any dry patches. I would recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really love this serum so much! A lot like the cicaplast cream except in a serum consistency, I’ve been using it for a few weeks and have noticed a great difference in my skins barrier. My skin looks radiant and healthy and has saved my skin during the colder months. The only negative thing would be is that I don’t love that it has silicone in it so my only suggestion would be to use a water based serum or mist underneath to help with the moisture but besides that it’s really nice even under makeup!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A feeling of refreshment [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have to say I was a little skeptical of this product to start with because I've tried similar products that haven't been remarkable shall we say. Well, I was pleasantly surprised because it seems to have helped my skin be more moisturized and feel softer to the touch. Even my rosacea seems to have lessened in intensity. It feels soothing and refreshing to the skin when I apply it. When I look in the mirror now, I see a better, smoother and definitely more moisturized looking skin. So, if anyone is out there that needs to be soothed and moisturized, I would recommend this product wholeheartedly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My dry skin loves this serum! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cicaplast B5 serum from La Roche Posay is a godsend for dry and sensitive skin. It has a high concentration of Vitamin B5 (a whopping 10%) and provides hydration without irritation. The gentle formula allows it to be used as a repair serum after skin treatments to restore the skin moisture barrier and stimulate skin renewal. The serum has an opaque color, no fragrance, and a light, milky consistency. The one recommendation I have is to improve the tip of the glass pipette to be more narrow for easier serum dispensing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it says! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This serum is described in Asia as ‘the Band-Aid for irritated skin’. In my experience, it definitely did soothe my dry skin, and I noticed a plumper, more hydrated look to my skin after just a few days. The high amounts of panthenol and glycerin definitely did their job! Depending on how the use of silicones (specifically dimethicone in this case) and alcohols in skincare products sit with you, this may not be suitable for you. The dimethicone definitely left the serum with that ‘silky serumy’ feeling. My skin also cannot usually tolerate any product with Hyaluronic Acid or any of its forms, so I ended up cutting my usage of this down to once per day, and then ultimately every couple of days. However, this was for my individual skin that hates HA, so if you are someone that can tolerate it, than you would probably love this! The dropper made me want to bang my head against a wall. I hate droppers and this one was no exception. It did the job, but it was super annoying. Overall, this was a nice product. I am not sure that I would pay full price to use this regularly as it is quite expensive for what it does, but if it was on sale and my skin was having a melt down than it would be a good inclusion to calm and restore.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cicaplast B5 Serum is a very good one that it does what it says.I used this great serum for a week now and it is moisturising my skin noticeably as I have a very dry and sensitive skin. I use it in mornings after the La Roche Posay gel cleanser and then use my sunscreen, they are great all together It has the ingredients that really work together to achieve this glowing look and when you use it you can see the difference in about 3 to 4 days I recommend B5 as it leaves your face shiny in a great way

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not great I found this Cicaplast B5 Serum left my skin a little sticky after use. It did get better quite quickly but not at first. It does not have much of a fragrance which is good. Has vitamin B5 which is an added bonus. I think it is rather on the more expensive side of all serums and if you can afford it, it is worth a try. I like the container which is white but as the serums is used one cannot see how much is left in the bottle. I think it would be good for someone with sensitive or dry skin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bottle design is terrible. It seems hydrating and sits well under my makeup. It is overpriced in my opinion. They need to change the dropper bottle as it scrapes along the sides when pulling the dropper out and ends up leaking out of the bottle and wasting expensive product. Pretty terrible design when you compare to the ordinary bottles. Terrible design even when not compared also! The dropper itself doesn’t pick up enough product and as easily as it should either. It’s hard to gauge how much you can pick up so you end up with too much or not enough. Not sure if I’d repurchase due to bottle issues and the fact I don’t feel it’s a game changing product since adding it to my routine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gives the face a nice glow [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very intrigued to try this serum upon learning that it contained Vitamin B5, which was foreign to me. After doing some research, I discovered that Vitamin B5 works similarly to hyaluronic acid, having a deeply hydrating, anti-inflammatory effect that helps keep skin quenched by absorbing moisture from the air. Directly after applying it to the skin, I noticed that it gave my skin a gorgeous glow from within. This glow was accompanied by deep hydration which left my skin consistently smooth, bright and supple after a few weeks of everyday usage. I did notice, however, that the box claimed it was non-stick, yet my face remained quite sticky after each use. I also prefer to use skincare that does not contain alcohol, as this one does, since it is known to be harmful to the skin and pro-ageing with lots of use. Overall, I did enjoy using this product, although I personally would refrain from using it long term and believe a hyaluronic acid serum will give just as good, if not, better results minus the alcohol. For a quick, natural glow and boost of hydration, I definitely think this works.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not my favourite but not bad either [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I switched from using another serum to trial this one on my dry and sensitive skin. I didn't love the packaging as it looks kind of clinical and I didn't love the tube that pulls out the serum. I feel that when it gets close to the end of the bottle, it may be difficult to get the last of the serum out of the bottle. The good included: I had no reaction and visible reduction of redness. I also found I had no visible dryness on my skin while using this serum. It also has no fragrance and absorbs quickly into the skin. I used it morning and evening before applying my moisturiser. While I've preferred other serums, this one worked well enough and is a reasonable price point.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nothing to write about [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was lucky enough to try out La Roche-Posay's Cicaplast B5 serum as part of a trial team. Following an Accutane treatment, I was left with dry skin with dry patches and flakiness, so I am always on the lookout for hydrating skincare. Unfortunately, this serum was not working for me. To start with, I really don't like the packaging. I got the bottle with the pipette out in the box and had to put it in myself which is an opening for contamination of the product if not done in a clean environment with clean hands. The pipette has a really wide opening (it doesn't narrow at the end like many other products) so once I opened the bottle I had to quickly put serum in my hand before it got spilled everywhere. The product itself has a somewhat yeasty smell, a bit like bread dough, which I didn't like nor dislike that much. Reminded me a bit of the QV gentle cleanser. The texture of the product was fine on the face but left a stickiness to my palm after application. While my skin felt quite soft straight after applying the product, I did not see any change to my skin as it still felt dry throughout the day with flaky patches. I got similar results even when I applied the product after physical exfoliation. Overall it seems like an ok serum with poor packaging that just didn't work for me. This is the first La Roche-Posay product I ever tried but unfortunately, it just didn't work for my skin. Considering the price tag that comes with it, I won't personally purchase it once I finish the product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok, however I wouldn't buy it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have skin sensitivity due to the use of Tretinoin creams and sometimes cold winter air can upset it and make it dry out or cause dermatitis if I am not careful. I am also early 50's, I have an oily T-zone and normal to dry U-zone, and mild Rosacea. I don't have any wrinkles yet, just a some expression lines under my eyes when I smile as I have taken care of my skin since I was 12 years old. This serum has some good features and some not so good. First, the good. Vitamin B5 at 10% is awesome, a great barrier repair and healing ingredient that helps to soothe irritation and humectant that attracts moisture to the skin. Plus another ingredient that has all the letters of the alphabet in it at least twice which has been shortened to HEPES on the website. This ingredient is apparently a gentle exfoliant which refines clogged pores and smoothes the skin similar to Salicylic acid but more gentle. Vitreocilla Ferment a prebiotic that helps to balance the skin microbiome which in my case is useful as I have suffered from Perioral Dermatitis in the past which is an imbalance of the microbiome. And finally the ubiquitous Sodium Hyaluronate humectant and a bit of Vitamin E for healing and product preserving. Now, the bad. High up on the list is Alcohol Denat. This is in this formula to help with drying the product on the skin, aids absorption and to help with emulsification, which means it keeps the oily dimethicone and the water based ingredients "together". It is also a preservative and sensitising to some people which is why I'm surprised to see it in this formula. This brings us into the second con, Dimethicone. This does give the formula its spreadability and slip across the skin. It is also slightly occlusive which is both good and bad, it helps to stop water evaporation from the skin but unfortunately it also means anything you apply over the top will have its absorption inhibited. It might be ok for oiler skinned people as they could use it as their last step before sunscreen in the day time. Just be mindful that some sunscreen formulas may Pill or ball up when mixing with the silicone, as will water based foundations. The last con is the price. For the ingredients list I would expect it to be cheaper. The most expensive ingredient would be the ferment as there is more to the manufacturing process but to me this doesn't justify paying $66.00. The product itself comes packaged in a 30ml dropper bottle which is pretty standard for serums, however I find this dropper isn't great. The squeeze top is a bit stiff and harder to press than most and the glass pipette inside is quite thick, probably due to the thickness of the serum but it also makes it awkward to put back into the bottle and product that is sticking to the outside of the pipette will scrape along the rim of the bottle and collect there. Because of how thick the serum is, not much is actually sucked up into the dropper, fortunately you don't need a lot as it spreads exceptionally well but it is still annoying. I think a serum pump would have been a better idea. The serum itself is kind of cloudy looking and like a runny gel consistency. It spreads very easy and you don't need much to do your whole face and neck. It is hydrating but I still need to use a thicker more occlusive formula over the top a I am prone to dehydration. Zero fragrance which is good and low on preservatives which is also good. Personally I find this product underwhelming. Especially for the price. Some people may like it and it might work better for someone else as we are all different and no 2 skins are the same. If you have the budget and a mildly sensitive, dry or dehydrated skin type it might be just the thing you need.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Serum for Sensitive Skin [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you BH for the opportunity to trial the new La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum. This serum comes in a 30ml glass bottle with a dropper, that in my opinion could have been improved if it wasn't so wide. I found it troublesome to get a measurable amount of serum & often ended up with product on the lip of the bottle when trying to put the dropper back in. The thick white serum has a slight medicated/chemical scent that fades quickly after application. It glides on and absorbs within seconds to leave my face feeling and looking smoother & more even toned, with a non-sticky finish. It came with very limited instructions so it was a bit of trial & error to see how best to layer it. I personally found it worked better by itself, as it occasionally resulted in pilling when paired with some of my other skincare products. I actually found it worked well as a primer under my foundation. It delivered on its promise to sooth red, irritated skin, but for me, it wasn't hydrating enough on its own to stop the dry flaking skin building up by the end of the day. Overall, it is a nice serum for those who have reactive/sensitive skin, but personally I didn't see enough positive, lasting results to justify the higher price tag.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hydrating serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you BH for allowing me to trial this product. Comes in nice clean white dropper bottle. Very little instructions and very hard to read. Thank you BH for providing the instructions on how to use. I have dry very sensitive skin and am always looking for products that dont irritate my skin. I was a little disappointed with this product although it did hydrate my skin and did not cause any irritation. I felt like I had a silicone layer on my face and my skin could not breathe. It did not feel natural. I used it morning and night after cleansing and then used my usual moisturiser. I did notice a slight improvement especially on my neck area. For the price I expected more. There are a lot of other brands on the market for half the price and are just as good as this one. I will continue to use it until it is finished but dont feel I would buy it again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ultra repair serum for dry skin [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used this serum now for over 3 weeks now and have had noticeable results. My skin is usually always dehydrated and dry, all year round but since using the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Serum it has provided additional hydration via the 10% B5 vitamin, and the only serum to have such a high concentrate of B5 and locked in the moisture to my skin providing almost an invisible barrier and great primer once the serum is dry. It also contains HEPES to help stimulate the skins natural renewal and promote even skin tone. It is a fast absorbing texture and non sticky. My skin feels softer on the touch and appears a lot calmer with less irritation and breakouts, and no visible redness after application. The only thing would suggest be improved about this serum is the alcohol ingredient and the smell, which dilutes and disappears very quickly upon application.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Serum claims to hydrate and repair dry, sensitive skin and reduce visible flaking, redness, and skin tightness or discomfort. I have been using 2 drops morning and evening, before moisturiser or sunscreen, for two weeks on my face and neck and my skin is definitely more hydrated but I have not noticed any other benefits yet. The serum is lightweight, non-sticky, absorbs quickly and is hypoallergenic and fragrance free. I have only recently discovered serums and this is not my favourite.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pleasant hydrating serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very happy to be chosen to trial this product as coming out of the winter months my normal to dry skin needs all the hydration it can get! This is the first La Roche Posay product i have tried and I enjoyed using this serum; it is a translucent milky colour and you only need 3-4 drops for your whole face. I applied it daily after cleansing and toning and before any other serums. The serum absorbed quickly into my skin without leaving any residue or tackiness and I did like it, I just don't love it. I didn't notice any positive difference to my skin - I will keep using it of course to see if there are any noticeable changes - and certainly I have nothing negative to say about the serum itself, but I would not be happy to pay $65 for it. What I didn't like was the dropper. It is too wide for the bottle and when you go to put it back into the bottle, any serum on the outside of the dropper transfers over the lip of the bottle resulting in waste. I also found that the dropper itself only drew up a few small amount of serum, meaning I had to go into the bottle 2 to 3 times. I doubt I will purchase this serum unless I see noticeable difference in my skin with continued use. I feel there are much better value serums out there which are more effective. I need more hydration from a serum.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not my favourite! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a fan of La roche-posay skincare but I was a bit disappointed when looking at the ingredient list for this product. It does have some good additional ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamin B5 and E but it kind of negates this product with the added denatured alcohol in the serum. I understand having the alcohol in the product speeds up the drying time of the serum however alcohol especially being so high up in the ingredient list is damaging to the skin barrier. It's such a shame because it does have these great vitamins and feels nice on the skin but I can't in good conscience use this with the amount of denatured alcohol added to this product.
