General Information

Dermatological hydrating repair serum for dry, sensitive skin.

The Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum is La Roche Posay's first dermatological serum with 10% Vitamin B5. With an efficient hydrating formula, the Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum has been specifically developed for dry skin prone to redness, skin tightness or discomfort. When used daily, the dry skin serum helps to hydrate and maintain the skin moisture barrier. Enriched with a highly concentrated humectant Vitamin B5 to help increase hydration and reduce trans-epidermal water loss, the skin repair serum formula also contains HEPES to help stimulate skin renewal, reinforce the moisture barrier, and comfort skin. The formula includes ingredients that are known to support the skin against everyday environmental aggressors like air pollution, temperature changes, low humidity and dryness. It also helps with topical irritations such as over-use of active ingredients and superficial skin procedures. The combination of hydrating and repair ingredients is also beneficial for skin impacted by lifestyle changes (lack of sleep, stress, poor diet). • La Roche-Posay have formulated this Cicaplast serum for dry and sensitive skin, however it is ideal to use on all skin types. • Use the skin repair serum daily for best results. • Suitable for use on post-superficial skin procedures on face. The La Roche-Posay Cicaplast serum for dry skin has been dermatologically tested to ensure suitability of the serum for sensitive skin types. KEY INGREDIENTS Repairing - 10% Vitamin B5 - Also known as Panthenol, Vitamin B5 is a humectant that attracts moisture from its surroundings and is able to lock in moisture within the skin. Vitamin B5 for skin is used to help support and maintain the skin moisture barrier. Due to its capability to attract and retain moisture, using Vitamin B5 helps soften skin, keeping it moist and helps prevent dryness. Vitamin B5 supports the skin moisture barrier through hydration, and reduces trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL), helping to reduce dryness and associated itchiness and discomfort. 10% Vitamin B5 has been added to the repair serum formula to hydrate and repair dry sensitive skin. Refining - HEPES - HEPES helps to gently exfoliate dead skin cells that are bound to the surface of the skin, refining clogged pores and uneven texture resulting in a smoother skin texture. HEPES has been used in the formulation to help even skin tone and refine skin texture. Soothing - Aqua Posae Filiformis (APF) - This prebiotic skincare is used to help rebalance the skin microbiome.

Directions

HOW TO USE:

- Apply 1-2 drops of this serum for dry, sensitive skin both morning and evening on face and neck on freshly cleansed face and before moisturiser.
- Gently press onto the face and neck until the serum is fully absorbed
- Avoid repeatedly massaging the face serum in circles.
- Wait at least 30 seconds before applying other skincare products.
- If using highly active ingredients in skincare routine:
- Regularly use (Skin with tolerance) - use cicaplast B5 serum last.
-Starting to use (building up tolerance) - use cicaplast B5 serum first

RECOMMENDED DAILY SKINCARE ROUTINE WITH THE CICAPLAST B5 SERUM:
For best results for hydrating skin repair and protection, use the products in the order listed below:

1. Toleriane Gentle Cream Dermo Cleanser, to gently cleanse face.
2. Cicaplast B5 Facial Sheet Mask, to kick start skin hydration or use weekly for regular hydration boost
3. Cicaplast B5 Serum for skin moisture barrier repair.
4. Anthelios Invisible Fluid Facial Sunscreen SPF50+, to protect the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

I found the texture pleasant and it left my skin feeling hydrated. It also seemed to form a barrier to moisture loss as my skin didn’t seem to get as dry during the day after a week of daily application. It has no scent which suited me and absorbed in to the skin well. It is great for protecting the skin against any harmful substances in the environment. I found it also meant I didn’t have to constantly apply moisturiser to parts of my face that would dry out such as around the nose and chin

It does take a while to absorb so make sure you wait for it to absorb before applying your moisturizer on top. A little goes a long way and try use it post washing your face.

The brand has been recommended before but I had not tried. My face had been feeling dry lately and my skin around my nose had been red and dry so this trial couldn’t of come at a better time. The serum comes in a glass bottle with a Doppler. The serum is Fragrance free and a translucent white. I applied two drops morning and night after cleansing. The serum is fast absorbing and light it feels very fresh when applying. After using for a couple of weeks I am very happy with the serum. My skin feels more softer and moisturised through out the day. My skin overall does retain the moisture and appears and feels healthier, I feel like my skin looks smoother. The redness in my problem area has not reduced but the flaking in that area has improved a lot. Overall I am very happy with the serum and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a serum to help hydrate their face.

Its my first time to try this serum I feel relieved that there is no reaction when I used it for the first few days as I have a very sensitive skin. This is so different cause I had tried serum before from a different brand after 2 days of using it I had breakouts on my face .But the La Roche-Posay serum amazed me it leaves my face hydrated and smooth. But i have not seen major improvement on my face . I love it as it is frangrance free which I like it.

My skin is dry, sensitive and very prone to redness. I am always searching for hydrating skincare that is gentle on my sensitive skin. I found this serum easy to use via the applicator, which dispensed just the right amount of serum. The serum also absorbed super quickly, and didn't feel heavy or greasy on my skin. I used this serum under my moisturiser as part of my daily skincare routine. I have found that this serum has helped to alleviate my redness and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and smooth. I would recommend this serum to people like me who have sensitive skin in need of hydration. I look forward to further excellent results with continued use.

This serum is highly concentrated with 10% Vitamin B5, along with HEPES to help stimulate skin renewal, reinforce the moisture barrier, and comfort skin. The serum came in a strong glass bottle with a stopper to help extract serum. There was no noticeable fragrance to the serum with its watery viscosity. I did find the serum would coat the outside of the glass stopper and then spill out - in the end I stopped relying on the stopper and just extracted the serum that coated the outside. I found my skin to be soft and more hydrating after use. The serum is quite readily absorbed. I normally use the B5 cream in the same range after superficial skin treatments so I will be adding this serum to the post procedure care to maximize skin recovery.

I used this twice a day in the morning and at night. I've applied this all over my face and neck after cleansing it. I have noticed visible effect after 3 to 4 days. My skin stayed hydrated and moist throughout the day and at night. The texture is very cream and white in colour. There is no perfume or nasty odour. I find the applicator or dropper is not very useful. It doesn't suck properly. It would be great if this can be improved. Also, the packaging doesn't really say much about the product. I have to look up online to check what it is used for. It would be great to have more information on the actual packaging and also how to use it and if its good to combine with other products. Overall, my skin felts really moist after couple of days. I have sensitive skin. The redness definitely improved and disappeared after couple of days of applying this product. My skin felt smoother than before. It also dries really quick after applying. I would definitely removed this product if you would like to improve the dryness and redness on your skin

It certainly is a very effective serum with a visible difference right from the very first application. Was really impressed with how calming and soothing it felt. The outer packaging is a crisp clean white with hints of bright blue. While I liked the simple clean look of the bottle the dropper was very poorly made. It either delivered too much product or way too little and found it very annoying to use. The liquid serum itself is white in colour and fragrance free. It gets absorbed immediately into the skin and instantly begins to calm and soothe the skin and deeply hydrate it. It soaks in quickly and dries up within seconds so skin is then ready for application of lotion. It does not leave my skin oily or sticky and I loved that. Red stressed areas calmed down immediately and within a matter of weeks my skin feels so much healthier, calmer and hydrated. Certainly a wonderful serum if you have sensitive skin and want an immediate fix! Worth the cost for how well it works. Really wish the dropper was better designed.

I put this on right after my cleansing routine, and then top it off with my moisturiser and face oil of choice. I love that this is the same as the standard cicaplast cream but the texture is so much more light weight and is absorbed a lot faster - making it super ideal for mornings when you try to get ready fast and need to apply makeup over the top. I also tried this on my eczema patches on my arms and more than anywhere else, I saw the biggest difference. My red patches were a lot less after a couple days of using and was less and less itchy. However after stopping use, my eczema did slowly come back but the cicaplast serum still had an impact overall. My only gripe with this is with the packaging. I wish the bottle was a clear bottle so you know when to buy another one and also to monitor your use over the weeks. The dropper itself is not always consistent and the amount dispensed can be variable. Overall I think this is such a great product to have in the skincare cabinet but for the price, I’m not sure it is worth it.

For the last couple of weeks, I have been using this serum twice a day after cleansing, and I think it has really helped me feel like my skin is more hydrated. I was lucky enough to be sent this product as part of the BeautyHeaven Trial Team. This reasonably priced serum has a lovely silky, smooth skin feel, that absorbs reasonably quickly, so it doesn't feel like it is adding much time to my already minimal morning routein. It's hypoallergenic, fragrance free and non-comedogenic, and is perfect for under your usual moisturiser. I have been very happy with how my skin has been feeling since trying, so I continue to use it!

I also waited a little bit before applying moisturiser, just to give the serum enough time to absorb. The serum was nice to apply and left my skin feeling plump and looking shiny, but not the oily shine. This was also great to use right before bed, because it meant I didn't have to use an overnight moisturiser, or I could alternate between the two. It comes in a cute little bottle, with an opened ended glass pippet. I found this better as you could reach more, especially towards the end of the product. The only downfall I found, was that I ended up using too many hydrating products (cleanser, serum, moisturiser), so my moisturiser ended up sitting on top of my skin, and staying tacky until about the end of the day.

I was not disappointed with La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum. I'll start with what were the minor negatives for me. I found that if I used more than the recommended 2 drops of the Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum my skin would immediately feel a little sticky. Also, the dropper is a little wide and each time I put it back in the bottle the serum runs down the outside. Now for the positives. If used as directed the Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum will last a long time so it's well worth the price. The Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum works amazingly on dry flaky skin. I had a dry patch of skin above my eyebrow which pretty much disappeared after the first use! Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum is fragrance-free and it doesn't have any smell. It feels silky and smooth and skin feels soft all day. My skin feels soft, hydrated and great!

I have been using it for a few weeks now and as it is great for sensitive skin it did not cause any irritation. I used it day and night and the hydrating formula did help my skin. It was perfect for soothing and maintaining my skin barrier during the day. My skin feels deeply hydrated, more plump and fine lines seem to have disappeared. It also appears healthier and skin tone more even. It’s fragrance free, has a lovely silky texture that wasn’t sticky, and it absorbed nicely. A small amount goes a long way. I would recommend this product as it definitely made a difference to my skin.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Divine Diva from Softer Smoother Skin [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to trial La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum as I have used a few of there products and had great results. The serum comes housed in a 30ml bottle that you then remove the lid and replace it with the enclosed dropper. The serum itself is clear and has a slight antiseptic smell that I thought would be a problem, however after a couple of days I didn’t notice this when applying. I loved the dropper that was included and this was easy to use and dispense the product onto the back of my hand and then I applied this to my face and neck pressing this into my skin as directed by the instructions. You apply this serum to freshly cleansed skin before your moisturiser. I found the serum was very lightweight and absorbed into my skin quite quickly without leaving any sticky residue. I then waited a minute or so before applying my other skincare on top of this. I found this serum was great at reducing the redness and dryness my skin gets from medications that I take. After the first week of use I did see a reduction in the redness, dry tight skin and dehydrated skin I have been experiencing of late. After the second week my skin did feel hydrated and soft without that tight feeling you can have after some serums. For me this serum was easy to incorporate into my current regime and I will definitely be looking at keeping this a part of my daily routine. I would highly recommend to those that have dry sensitive skin from either the elements or like me from certain medications. After two weeks of use I have seen some very promising results and have high hopes of seeing more beautiful skin after continuous use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by kellies36 from Great soothing hydrating serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this as part of the trial team and the timing was amazing because I had a chemical peel booked in two weeks after the product arrived so I got to try it before and after a treatment. I normally use the cicaplast baume when my skin is feeling sensitive and if I have redness, so it was great to try the serum. The serum is clear and fragrance free, it is absorbed quickly and feels really cooling and soothing when applied. It also doesn't sting, which I sometimes experience with other serums. I found the serum to be hydrating and soothing, after my chemical peel it was a lifesaver and also stopped the redness around my nose from the peel.

It has definitely helped hydrate my dry winter skin. I am unsure why alcohol is needed in this product and seems counterintuitive to add it into a ‘repair’ serum. The thing I hated most about this product is the dropped. It is absolutely awful. I am also not convinced that I enjoyed this product enough to pay full price for it. It was nice and maybe if my skin was extremely irritated I would consider it, but I can’t see myself repurchasing this for my everyday skin care routine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by sonatael from Pleasant texture but not the best [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The serum is odourless with a milky white and very viscous consistency -- the kind that's better dispensed from a vacuum pump rather than a dropper because its goopy thickness means it takes some care to reinsert the dropper to avoid depositing product outside the neck of the bottle and wasting product. On the skin, the serum has a pleasant, silky smooth feeling and absorbs quickly into the skin, due to the dimethicone and denatured alcohol in the ingredients. This means it layers beautifully under other skincare and makeup. Despite the presence of the alcohol, the serum soothed inflamed and sensitised skin (from overwashing and exfoliating). After a single use, the skin was calmer, less red and less sensitive, and continued to improve with subsequent use. However, while this product does what it claims, there are better products that can achieve better results at a more affordable price even from La Roche Posay, such as the Cicaplast Balm B5 (from the same lineup) that contains madecassoside (also known as 'cica') in its ingredients list. I recommend this serum for those specifically after a repair serum from this brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lilypilly from versatile and soothing recovery serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had the opportunity to try out the new La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Lutra repair serum recently and I have really loved adding it to my skincare routine. It is absolutely amazing for highly sensitive, aggravated skin that needs a lot of gentle soothing TLC with its 10% vitamin B5 that helps to protect and repair compromised skin. The product itself is a very fluid, slightly vicious milky liquid that is dispensed from a glass bottle with a pipette dropper. It has a silky texture during application and it absorbs almost immediately into skin, leaving no traces of it being applied once the product dries. I've found it fabulous for to use on superficial burns to soothe and calm skin from a cooking accident (oil splatter) on my hand and for the two times when I had a bout of urticaria on my body, a few drops of the repair serum help calm the itch straight away and stop the hives from forming. On the face, I have really enjoyed using it twice daily as a soothing serum to help with replensihing my moisture level and to also help with improving my face's skin barrier function given the actives I use as part of my skincare routine at night (ie. retinol, and acids). It is not emollient enough for my dry combo skin and I need to layer a moisturiser on top afterwards. It has reduced redness on my cheeks and since it's non-irritating even on very sensitised or aggravated skin, I can see working to calm down the irritation from a sunburn or to speed up the recovery of skin compromised by intensive skin beauty treatments. Being so versatile in calming the skin, I'm actually taking it with me on my interstate travels this week as it is so gentle but effective in calming, soothing and rebuilding the skin barrier as well as providing moisture back to skin. This is something that I would repurchase when I run out, especially when it goes on sale.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Beauty Fan 69 from A beautiful and gentle serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 ultra repair serum was easy to use and gentle on my sensitive skin. A little goes a long way so the bottle lasts a long time and when applied it soothes skin and provides wonderful nourishment and hydration. It had a non-sticky finish and is ideal to apply both in the morning and at night. The serum is fast absorbing and all over left my skin feeling refreshed and with a beautiful, healthy glow. There has been a noticeable difference since using and it is a product that I would recommend others give a try, lovely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by You beauty from Hydration and repair for sensitive skin [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I loved La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 serum for its hydration and repair properties. I used it twice a day, after washing the face and before applying the moisturiser. It works well for dry, sensitive skin and provides a great hydration throughout the day. I also applied it on a burn mark and a blemish created post contact allergy, the results were outstanding. The application is easy with a dropper applicator, it applies well and hydrated the skin immediately. It works well with other water based serums. The skin does not feel irritated post application. It also goes well under makeup and SPF. It’s great for sensitive, irritated skin ,rosacea, eczema and damaged skin barrier. It’s a great product for any one’s skin routine. It would help the teenage skin, post menopausal sensitive dry skin as well as post skin procedure irritations.

This is a serum that can be used all year round as it’s hydrating enough for winter but not too thick for summer. It was a bit sticky when first applying it but did sink in eventually. It isn’t fragranced but does have a smell similar to their effaclar serum which I was surprised about. It’s not strong enough to put me off using the product though and goes away quite quickly. The dispenser works well, my only critique with the packaging is that the bottle is completely covered and you can’t see how much of the product is remaining. Overall, I liked this serum and would consider repurchasing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by mich2591 from Hydrating serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This repair serum was a welcome addition to my skincare routine once I adjusted my other serums to allow it to work to its full effectiveness. At the time of trialling I had recently started using another new hydrating serum, so when I added the LRP cicaplast b5 serum my skin had a purging reaction due to using too many new products. Once I stopped using the other new serum and only used the LRP serum my skin felt relieved and more hydrated. I would use in the morning before my sunscreen and this seemed to work well.

I quite enjoyed using the serum. I like using it in my day routine rather than at night due to the silicone in the product and it sat nicely under my makeup. It felt like The product reduced my redness and the dryness of my skin which is always a problem I have in winter. I also have some skin sensitivity and felt it did not flare up my skin to use this serum. I would definitely buy a bottle of this in store if I saw it as I enjoyed using it. A good introduction to La Roche range of products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Debra281 from Nice to trial [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this B5 serum for 2 weeks and did notice a difference in my skins I preferred to use it in the morning rather than at night due to the silicone. Having not tired any serums with B5 previously I didn’t know what to expect but this worked quite well. It seemed to reduce the redness in my skin and my skin didn’t seem quite as dry as it usually gets in winter.l which was nice. It makes a pretty good primer under makeup as well. Overall I enjoyed this product and would probably buy a full size bottle. My only criticism was The dropper made it a bit hard to get product out.

I found it quite good - I preferred to use it in the morning rather than evening as I feel like the silicone prevented my night time routine sinking in a bit. But I do feel like my skin improved in its redness and overall look and feel while using this serum. It worked for me and I have reasonably sensitive skin at times - especially during winter which sometimes affects my skin making it drier then usual and a bit squeaky using some products but this didn’t have that effect.

I have used a few things from La Roche Posay before and they have all been excellent quality. This serum is also of excellent quality and found it really effective on my skin. It absorbs really well and dries really quickly, which was good for me for busy mornings where I need thing to move quickly. I have been using it morning and night and noticed my skin is more refreshed, brighter and has a little more of a natural looking glow. The texture is lovely and smooth, however I am finding that I use more product than I usually would for a serum. Taking that into consideration and the price point, it feels like I would go through it quickly and not worth what I find a high price tag for a chemist brand. (though I guess the chances of it going on sale from time to time are good) I also found the dropper being a long straight line to be a little clunky to use and to distribute the exact amount of product I needed. Its for these reasons I have reduced a star. Solid 4 stars from me though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Basic hydrating serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This serum comes in a 30ml glass bottle and the dropper is separate so you need to take the lid off the serum and screw the dropper on. I found the dropper a bit tricky to grab serum and at times I had to dip it into the serum 3 or 4 times as it just doesn't like to suck the serum up. The serum is thick and a cloudy white colour. When I dispense some serum on my fingers I can smell something but I'm not sure what it is as it's just noticeable. Applying the serum to my skin it spreads easily and has a great slip to it. It's a non-oily gel serum. My skin doesn't feel tacky after application. I found the serum absorbs fast into my skin. After application this serum leaves my skin soft and hydrated. I love the feel of this. It makes my makeup sit so well too. I haven't really noticed much from this serum and considering the price point I did kind of expect more but will keep using it as I love the feel of this serum and may notice more with time.

I like that it goes on nice and easily. It has a gentle feel about it. My 62-year-old skin has been improved with the use of this product by a reduction in redness over the last 2 weeks. When the serum dries my skin feels slightly sticky. I do not like the size of the dropper; it is too big and unwieldy. I also don’t like that I can’t see how much product is left in the bottle as it is a white bottle that is not see through. I would not pay full price for this product as (to me) it is expensive. I am happy to try out other, cheaper, serums as my skin doesn’t react badly to facial products.
