Rated 3 out of 5 by from I tested Apocalypse Red, Red Actually and Wuthering Purple. The two reds, the shades I really liked, applied opaquely but the purple was streaky. The finish was okay, but would describe as more satin/gloss than matte, it didn't dry down nor was it transfer-proof. Lasted a couple of hours before reapplication required.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from These are a great lipstick for people who don't normally like liquid lipsticks. The applicator is easy to use and the formula is not drying at all. On the downside, they do not dry matte and last more like a lip stain than a lipstick, but they do wear evenly

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The colours are really nice and felt nice and moisturising on application. On initial application they were not very pigmented but I found they were buildable in coverage which is quite unique. Unfortunately they transfer very easily - to the point wear i removed all the colour in two whiles (no make up remover). If you are generally a longwear liquid lipstick type this is probably not for you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I was so excited for these products, but unfortunately they fell a little short for me. The texture is super smooth and silky on the lips which is great, but the three lipsticks I tried lacked opacity and took a number of coats to get rid of the streaks. I did love the colours though!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I found the product to separate a little and because of the texture and the packaging it was a little effort to combine it again. They're advertised as a matte lip product and I will say they are definitely not that. However I find them so so so comfortable on the lips, matte products tend to be very drying and this was smooth and creamy and felt like nothing on my lips. It lasted a few hours and leaves a stain, easy to reapply.\nIt was easy to apply with the doe foot applicator but I found that the colour tended to be a bit patchy and took a bit of effort to build up and make it even. I think the lighter colours might be easier to work with when it comes to this formula.   \nOverall I liked the product and will look for more colours like a nude or a light pink as it could be a great everyday wear formula. \n\n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So i tried 3 shades of this product. None of which dried down to matte. I found that if I blotted the lipstick it left a matte stain on the lips. The product applied nicely and I liked the shape of the applicator. With one coat it had a semi opaque finish and the darker shades were slightly streaky. With a second coat it built up to a opaque finish but left the lips feeling very oily. I wouldn't call it a matte lip paint but more of an oil based lip stain. I won't be going out to buy more shades but I will use them for natural makeup looks as a lip stain.\n\n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from i really love the packaging of these, and the smell is so good! they smell like candy! unfortunately, i didn't find that the colour pay off was as pigmented as i was originally hoping for on my medium skin tone or as much as a matte finish i was expecting.. I found that Red Actually and Apocalypse Red had a very satin finish, and Wuthering Purple was very sheer. They did feel very nice on my lips and diidnt dry them out like some liquid lipsticks do and also i love the applicator, its very similar to the Jeffree Star wand. When it came to the staying power, once they had dried, i found that they did last a decent amount of time before needing to reapply. Overall i do like these but i wish the formula was a little different!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great applicator sponge tip. Reds were highly wearable for everyday. The purple was a little too bright for me, but can see the appeal in this colour for others.\n\nThe "matte" finish was not a true matte finish and never really dried after application - this meant product came off easily.\n\nOverall, wearable, but not what I expected from the product compared to other lipsticks.\n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I loved the Apocalypse Red shade. It suited my skin tone well. Loved the smell too. It smells like candy. I however have to point out that its not a matte finish more of a satin. Reading what it was called I thought it would be like a liquid lipstick where it dries down matte and wont transfer, however it didn't dry down and it does transfer. Its more like a lipstick in liquid form. I wore it for about 2-3 hours without re-applying and it lasted through but it stays as a stain instead of a pigmented lipstick. The pigmentation is great on application and I love the doe foot applicator, but as its advertised as a matte lip paint it disappoints in performance to what I would expect of a "matte lip paint".

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No mess application and could be perfectly applied to the lips. The lip paints I found did last all day however a re application would need to be done after drinking or eating. Deep red was my fave shade, however the paints were more of a gloss than matte finish.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The range of colours are beautiful, however I must agree that they aren't matte (which is preferable, due to the trend away from matte towards more cream/sheen finishes and the comfort of wearing the lipstick) and it didn't have the lasting power of other liquid lipsticks. I found squeezing the tube and heating the product up in my hands a bit before use helped application, both in ease and colour pay-off. I will use the rest of these up, however; I will probably go to purchase other lipsticks over these ones considering I wouldn't pay the price for the quality of the product. Still, a very decent lipstick but not at all as advertised.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I love the three colours that I have tried. They were slightly patchy when applied, taking 2-3 applications for even coverage but layer well. I found that the formula didn't dry down at all, even after hours of wear. It remains a satin finish, rather than true matte
Date published: 2017-07-04
Rated 3 out of 5 by from I found these liquid lipsticks to have more of a satin finish rather than being matte and so they were not transfer-proof and would require touching up throughout the day, especially after meals. The applicators on these lip paints made application quite easy and I had a good amount of precision. These lip paints have average staying power, similar to a creme lipstick. After the end of the day, these lip paints to leave a stain on your lips which help it fade a bit more gracefully. I found that the pigmentation of these varied and depending on the colour you may need to build up a few layers to get it to look as vibrant as the tube. I have tried the shades 204 (Red Actually) and its a good cool tone red that has decent pigmentation, 206 (Apocalypse Red) was a beautiful deep red with really good pigmentation and the most disappointing one was 207 (Wuthering Purple) which I found to be streaky and did not deliver the pigmentation I wanted and required a decent amount of layers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The deep red and the purple colours are beautiful, the lighter red was not a colour I personally liked. The consistency of the lighter red colour was thicker than the other two as well. I found I needed a few layers to get the colour even, and even after hours, they never fully dried, anytime my lips touched anything the colour would come off. This did mean it wasn't overly drying on my lips, however it also doesn't have a truly matte finish.
Date published: 2017-07-04
Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was a comfortable, smooth feeling on the lips however I wouldn't say the finish was "Matte". The colours are great but a little too daring for me, I would like to see some nude shades and a pale pink. I also found that it came off very easily on glasses etc but at the same time didn't stain my lips like a lipstick would.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I liked the deep red the best, but I found the product dried my lips out a bit, and didn't last too long before requiring additional applications.\nIn relation to comparable lip sticks, I would definitely recommend this product based on the color of the deep red, as I always find it hard to find a nice vibrant color.\nI also loved the scent of the product, and the applicator made it really easy to apply.\n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I didn't really like these products. I did like the shades however I didn't find them overly pigmented and it took quite a few layers to make them look opaque, one swipe looked more like a stain. They didn't dry down to a matte finish like I expected it was more like a gloss but not sticky and I found that they transferred quite easily. I also found that when I pulled the brush out of the tube a lot of product would build around certain areas of the brush causing for uneven application and blobs if not removed. Having tried and enjoyed several matte liquid lipsticks this just wasn't what I was expecting the product to be.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I think the colours available in this range are amazing! The deep red is my favourite, and the deep purple is a great one for days it is a bit more daring! I found that the texture of the paints weren't quite matte though, and a few layers were required to truly build up enough coverage and stop any patchiness. I found that it lasted quite well if you did apply the right amount of layers!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I'm a huge fan of lip paints, lip stains, etc so I was keen to test this out. I was fortunate enough to test out Maybelline's Lip Jolts as part of the ReviewCrew so I was interested in comparing the two. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with L'Oreal's version. The product is incredibly pigmented, and I prefer the doe foot applicator of the Lip Paints over Maybelline's Lip Jolts, but it was so incredibly drying that I had to remove it after a few hours because my lips were actually starting to peel. because of this, I'm unable to comment as to how long lasting they were. Such a shame as the range of colours are beautiful and provide a much wider variety than its Maybelline counterpart. Won't be purchasing again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I thought the packaging was super sleek and minimalistic. However, when I opened the product to use, the formula was separated in all 3 shades; oil was separated to pigment. So, first impression, was not enthusiastic, and when I swatched it, it was not opaque, and was very wet. It felt nice and moisturising on the lips, but I wouldn't ever choose this product over another. Smelt nice though.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I really wanted to like this product but I just found it missed the mark and didn't know what it wanted to be. Having both a tube and a wand seemed baffling to me and meant that I was never able to get an even amount out of the tube into the wand. I really liked the colours, but not all of them provided the same amount of coverage and I particularly struggled with getting the purple shade to look anything other than patchy. The tube says liquid lipstick but it's really much more of an opaque, matte gloss - similar to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. They wore about 2-3 hours (but won't last through eating/drinking). I found these worked best over a long-wearing lipstick to balance out some of the problems mentioned. I honestly think there's lots of of better, similar products on the market at this price point.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I liked the formula of these. They have a thin consistency and apply more as a glossy lip tint than a 'paint'. They were moisturising, but transferred and didn't dry down. I loved the Red Actually shade. I would recommend these to someone looking for a more natural look.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I think the main issue with this product is that it tries to do too much. Matte liquid lipsticks are often drying as they have a high alcohol content that makes them long-lasting. This can make them uncomfortable and flakey. The L’Oreal lip paints primarily use dimethicones, derived from silicones, which means that they don’t fully dry down, nor do they live up to their “matte” claim, but they are moisturising.\nWhile on the subject of ingredients, while I’m not sure what’s doing it, but all of the Lip Paints I tried had a heavy scent. It smells like strawberry bubblegum and there is a slight taste on application. I don’t like fragranced products so this was a big turnoff for me.\nOut of the three colours I tried, “Red Actually”, a bright, cool-toned red, performed the best. It required two coats to build to a pigmentation I liked, but came closest to a “matte” finish after an hour of wear. It didn’t feel too heavy, and while it required reapplication after a meal, it wore evenly.\nThe other two colours, “Apocalypse Red”: a cherry red and “Wuthering Purple” a true, bright violet, felt heavy and were patchy. Wuthering Purple in particular was uncomfortable to wear, and bled around the lips even with a lip liner. Purple is a hard colour for brands to pull off, but liquid lipsticks are usually the best way to ensure a long lasting and even application. This product provided neither of these qualities. While Apocalypse Red was pigmented—and a very nice shade of red at that—it wore badly and felt too heavy on the lips upon reapplication.\nUpon taking the lipstick off my lips felt soft and hydrated. I can imagine that this formula might perform much better with nudes. However, the issues in pigmentation, comfort, and the horrendous scent make these a hard pass for me.\n

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Colours were awesome and so fun! The product felt nice on the lips however I found them to be streaky with one coat and multiple coats became very patchy during the day. It didn't dry like usual matte lip colors as I expected, it was more of a matte gloss rather than a lipstick.  Overall I didn't enjoy this product as much as I though I would.
Date published: 2017-07-08
Rated 2 out of 5 by from If like me, you appreciate a strong, bold lipstick then these probably aren't the right product for you. I found that the colour was too light and remained too 'wet' on the lip - as a matte product, I expected it to be a little dryer. I also found that the colour bled into my lips significantly which I imagine can be prevented with a lip liner (and it does recommend to use with a liner) but as I don't generally wear lip liners, it wasn't something I had to hand. However, the application is beautiful and has a gorgeous scent. It's quite a moisturising lip product which is beneficial to stop your lips from drying out too much (which is often the case with alot of matte products).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I found the formula to be incredibly drying on the lips. The colours are beautiful though, so it's such a shame. The product wasn't long wearing for me and transferred on to cups and smudged throughout the day. The packaging also isn't the greatest, the product came out of the tube in big clumps
Date published: 2017-07-26
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I was so excited to use these products and was bitterly disappointed in the performance and application. \nLets start with the shades I recieved: #207 Withering Purple (matte bright purple) #204 Red Actually (matte bright pink based red) and #205 Apocalypse Red (matte dark red with a purple undertone) I actually like all of the shades however i found them all very hard to wear. A soft pink, mauve or nude would have been nice to try,\nThe application is not something to be desired. The wand applicator is a large fluffy doe-foot with a small lip that is meant to hold product on the wand (it doesn't really). the wand is actually too large in my opinion, it made it very difficult to get a nice precise application particularly to the cupids bow. They all apply very streaky and is hard to build up as the applicator seems to remove just as much as it applies. I feel like if you wanted a really bold application you would need to put a lip liner underneath. \nThe finish is meant to be matte but i find that none of them dry down to anywhere near what i would consider matte. They all have a glossy finish with a stain that i guess you could call matte.... kinda. \nok finally lets talk about the feel and the wear time. They have a very mousse like texture that feels almost tacky (not sticky like a lip gloss but not drying like a matte liquid lipstick - kinda in between). I personally do not like the feel of them on the lips and they did not last very long at all. They wore off very quickly (about 1.5-2hrs) and didn't live up to eating or drinking - even through a straw. \nPersonally this is not a product I would buy or recommend. I feel there are so many products that have the same claims as this and perform ALOT better for the same price. Pass on this guy.\n
Date published: 2017-07-12
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I did not like this product. I found it to be a strange hybrid between a liquid lipstick and a lip gloss - the formula across the colours was neither matte nor lacquer to me. They were difficult to build, not truly opaque in colour, and it was only after a couple of hours before they started to fade and feather. As a comparison, I expected these to be similar to the Zoeva lacquer and matte lipsticks, which are more opaque and long wearing for the same price. Overall, I was disappointed and wouldn't recommend.
