Rated 3 out of 5 by from I received these pens in all five shades and was excited to trial them out. I have used a few colour correcting pens before for dark circles under my eyes and pigmentation but never really found them effective so when these pens arrived I was ready to see what they delivered. The packaging is modern and light and the sponge tips are easy or application but can get a little caked with contnued use I found. The green and yellow pens were used to disguise my dark circles under my eyes and for pigmentation. The application is smooth but extra blending is needed to create anything effective. The yellow pen made my skin look grey and Sallie so I wasn't a fan at all. The green pen so used everyday for a week and found the results were average. It definitely reduced my dark circles but needed a good quality foundation to make it worth the effort. I recommend this product for anyone who has time to do their make up in excess of thirty mins and who also likes liquid makeup. Overall these pens needed a lot of blending and felt heavy for summer wear. I will trial them again as the weather cools down and hopefully they won't feel like an extra layer n my skin. I don' think id personally buy any of these products regularly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I was part of the review crew for these and was able to try out. \nI am medium to dark skin tone with yellow undertones. Dry skin. I couldn’t use the green and blue pens because of my skin color. \nDuring the trial I used yellow , apricot and red pens. \nSimple packaging, easy to use but you need to twist the pen more than 30clicks to get the product out initially. The applicator is so soft and easy to apply. But I used my fingers and beauty blender. \nI found these to be bit drying so need to blend fast. They are pigmented and camouflages your skin concerns and won’t show through your foundation. \nThe yellow tend to go a bit grey on me but the apricot and red was fine. \nI must say that even thought these pens addressed the skin concerns they didn’t come through as my high end correctors . And also if you have a lot pigmentation and dark spots like me you’d find the same. But for every day use these are great. \nI would recommend these pens more for the fair to medium skin tones. \n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I was initially really excited to try these colour correcting pens. I have a fair skin tone with combination skin. I thought this product could help combat my dark undereyes and the occasional pimple.\n\nI found after playing around with them for a few weeks that using the yellow with a little bit of apricot (the apricot alone was far too dark) for under the eyes and the green for any red spots worked great. The formula is nice and creamy, however only blended well when using my fingers or brush. Using a beauty blender caused the product to move around too much. Over the top of this product I used my foundation, concealer, and powder. \n\nNow, my main issue with this product is the packaging. It seems extremely cheap! It dispenses an inconsistent amount of product each time, and when left in my makeup bag in the warm weather it slowly leaked. Not to mention the ink on the packaging has started to smudge everywhere and transfers onto your hands, only after being used for a few weeks?! \n\nOverall, this isn't a bad product, it does the job. You just need to be willing to work with it a little. \n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I would definitely recommend trying these pens! Super easy to use application pen, with a soft non-abrasive dispensing brush tip that was particularly kind under the eyes. You definitely get your moneys worth as a very little goes a long way (at least for my very fair skin), took me a few goes to gauge just how much I needed to use, and to push past the initial vibrancy of the colours on my skin.\n\nDifferent makeup bases seem to interact differently with the pens, with my oil based foundations refusing to blend and actually removing the concealer colour. The makeup is also quite heavy and not that usable if you are only doing light coverage. Amazing for nightwear, especially if you like to go all out with contouring!  I did not love them for me personally, but they deliver on hiding all those problem areas!!\n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I was really surprised at how these worked! I didn't have high hopes of these little guys but they're actually not so bad.\nI dark skin and lots of hyper pigmentation so I usually have to use colour correctors. I tend to find it a little tedious however these pens make it pretty easy.\n\nThe consistency of the product is good, its liquid based however not strong or runny. They do dry fast though, so you need to work quickly otherwise you might be left with the colour correctors bleeding through your foundation. \nA lot of product does come out, so less is defiantly more! \n\nI wasn't a fan of the applicator as it left streaks, however the product itself blended in nicely with my fingers/brush/beauty blender.\n\nregardless I would recommend it the product :)\n\n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I was fairly underwhelmed with these pens. I mostly used the apricot, yellow and green but found the apricot very difficult to blend and more trouble than it was worth spending the extra time applying. The yellow and green were most effective but I didn’t notice enough of a difference to add the extra step to my everyday routine. \nThe weirdest thing I experienced was that the ink on the outside of the pens came off as I was using them and I ended up with black ink all over my hands! Probably a fluke but frustrating. \n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from These colour correcting pens are alright to use, I was a little disappointed in the fact that they are so difficult to blend. Upon first opening the apricot colour corrector for under eye dark circles, it took more than the allocated 20 times until the product showed. It applies well, the pen and the cushion tip at the end is designed well and fits into the contours of my under eye area. Blending this colour out was difficult and i ended up using two separate beauty blenders to keep the colour from spreading and mixing too much with my foundation. Overall it did do as advertised and covered up my dark circles which was impressive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from These colour correcting pens come in five different shades each one designed to counteract a different area. I was most excited to try the yellow to counteract my dark undereye area and the green to counteract the redness around my nose. \n\nThese pens are recommended to be used under your foundation and concealer and come in a doe foot applicator. The liquid is a light consistency and applies easily and evenly to the skin. \n\nUnfortunately after I had applied foundation, concealer and powder over top of the colour correcting pens, there was no difference to my normal face with makeup on. I think the issue is that the product doesn’t layer well so the product seems to just disappear as you apply product on top. \n\nIf you are interested in colour correcting areas of your face it may be worth trying these pens out to see if they work for you but in my opinion most people don’t need this extra step in their routine and can get the same results with a good application of foundation and concealer. \n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The Maybelline Face Studio Master Camo Color Correcting Pens come in a range of colours to target specific areas for correction; green for redness, yellow for brightening, apricot and red for dark circles, blue for sallowness and pink for dullness. The pens are very pigmented and a little of the product goes a long way and I found the pens easy to apply to the face using the doe foot applicator and then blending the product out using a brush or beauty blender. I did notice a small improvement around my eyes but nothing too major when using the apricot correcting pen and when using the green pen for redness, I was happy with the results. I did find that throughout the day, the product creased around my eyes and I think the pigment in the colours should be lighter. Overall, the results were good but I find the actual pen itself releases too much product for what was needed. \n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I found these pens fun to use and some of the shades were particularly helpful. They are so simple to use and come in such a great sized pen that is easy to take with you (so hand-bag friendly) wherever you want to go. I'd never used any of these "camo" range of products before, but Maybelline has a great short video on their website for the uninitiated (like me) that shows you how to use the pens. A quick few turns to get the product out and then really easy to "dot on" before blending in, then blending with your normal foundation. Application overall is a very simple process. I found that once you had turned the pen to get the product to come out, the product took a few extra seconds to cease coming out of the pen, so my advice is don't Overturn! I found the Green was my favourite as it really camouflaged any of redness. The Lilac was great for adding a little bit of brightness.\nThe pens are all quite pigmented so don't over-apply, especially with the Apricot and Red shades, as they come out quite dark and can then become difficult to blend. Trial and practice is the best way to figure out which pigments work best for you and in which areas of your face. Overall a fun and easy to use product, with a good deliverance on what it promises to do.\n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I was really lucky to try out the new Maybelline New York Master Camo Colour Correcting Pens. After reading the instructions and what each colour is used for, I decided to try the apricot first for my dark circles. The first time I used the product, I put way too much on and it took ages to blend in. The second time around I knew to use much less and it blended quite well with a bit of patience. The product is easy to use and I noticed a slight improvement, however definitely not a major improvement. I'm not sure I would purchase the product again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Colour correcting products have been used for a long time by pro makeup artists. In the last few years brands have released similar products for general consumer use. These fall in the more affordable end of the spectrum but don’t comprimise on quality. Maybelline have also ensured that they cater to a wide range of skin tones with the inclusion of yellow, apricot, and red corrector shades. These correctors are easy to blend but the yellow, green, and purple correctors have little impact, while adding a great deal of time to an everyday routine. These would be suitable for someone looking to tackle a particular problem area, but I felt that they were an unnecessary and unnoticeable step in my routine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I was pleasantly surprised with these Camo pens, and mainly used to green to hide my acne scarring and redness around my nose and chin. The trick is less is more! The less you use, the easier it is to blend and make look more natural once foundation is applied. Too much product ended up looking cakey. It didn’t dry my skin out or crack throughout the day which was nice. The pens are easy to use but you have to be careful not to wind too much product up.\nI would definitely recommend this product to all fellow red skin sufferers like myself!  \n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I was super excited to try these, especially the green to tackle redness and the apricot for under eye darkness. When I first applied them, I thought the results looked really good - the redness in my skin was definitely reduced. However, when I tried to blend the product in, it was almost impossible to get it to blend completely. After applying two colours in different areas and spending a while blending with my fingers, you could still clearly see the lines of where the products had been applied. A slightly green/orange patchy face was not a good look. I put foundation over the top which helped but in certain lights, I could still see the coloured patches. While they definitely cover the colours they are designed to cover, the consistency needs to be easier to blend to make them really wearable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I recently had the opportunity to trial these futuristic type correctors. As I have fair skin I used the 3 products that were suited to my skin tone which was the green for redness, purple for sallowness and the yellow for dullness/brightening.\n\nThe packaging is convienient and works fine to despense the product and dot onto skin. However I found I needed to blend which worked best with my finger tip as it warmed the product. I used more of a dabbing motion so the product stays where you need it.\n\nEach of the correctors are highly pigmented which is what you need to correct imperfections. This means you also need to use a highly pigmented and full coverage foundation and concealor over the top. I found it worked best to apply my prducts over the top with a slightly damp beauty blender. While it does set/dry down on it's own I found that if I used a brush to apply my foundation over the top it didnt work as well. \n\nThe yellow was fantastic to use as a highlight/brightener under my eyes and down my nose. The red was good at counter acting some angry red pimples I had. The purple didn't really work for me. When I applied foundation over the top it made the colour appear lighter so I couldn't quite work out how to use it best.\n\nOverall I would use the red and yellow when needed but it only works for me when I am using full coverage products. On a day to day basis I tend to go for a more medium-light coverage so this wouldn't be something I would use all the time but handy for special occassions. \n\n

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Was excited to trial maybelline New York  master camo pens but I’m not a fan. \n•Yellow- like it as a highlighter and it’s a good colour lift. Really nice and definitely my favourite out of the set.\n•Green and the •Blue/purple- chalky colour I had difficulty covering and would need a pretty solid foundation on top. \n•Apricot- too dark a pigment, did not combat my dark circles at all.\n•Red- way to dark for my skin but love the colour as a lip stain under gloss.\n\nEasy to blend love the applicator on the pen. Took a whole lot of turns to get the product to come out actually thought mine might be broken at the start but once it got going it was very easy to use. \nLove the packaging very modern and practical. Slight tacky feeling to the product. Probably a hit and miss for this product. Would prefer if the containers were see through so I could see how much product it goes through each application. \n\n

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I have a lot of redness in my face from acne scarring and burst capillaries, and usually use a green-tinted primer as a base, so I was excited to try these colour correcting pens. Upon unwrapping, they feel very cheap because of the lightweight plastic. As per the instructions, it takes about 20 twists of the pen on initial usage to get the product dispensing. It's a bit tricky to get the right amount of product to come out, as I find one twist releases too much product (but twisting it less yields none at all). I patch tested each colour (except the red, as it is darker than my needs [I am about a MAC NC25 in summer) on my inner arm, and experienced no reaction from 12 hours of wear. They are easy to apply/blend with the applicator, and dry opaque quite quickly (when spread thin), with a slightly tacky feeling left behind. I used the green and orange pens for my scars and under-eye area, and applied my base products on top (MAC Face & Body and Glossier Stretch Concealer), but I don't think it made much of a difference to either, other than clinging to my dry patches. I also doubt the pens are very hygienic, as the sponge-tip can't be cleaned properly. All in all, I think it was a great in theory, but the actual product is not worth the purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I was really excited for these products but to be honest, they were not what I hoped for. I tried the green, yellow and apricot colours due to my medium skin tone. I do have redness in quite a few areas so I tried to use the green a lot. There was a lot of product that came out and even after excessive blending, you could still see a bit of the green. However, the yellow and apricot colours worked out quite okay but I felt like I couldn't see much difference and didn't correct that much. \n\nIf you want this, I would not recommend getting the green one at least. \n

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I had really high hopes for this product. I have used only green based concealers in the past so I was interested to try out all the other colours. I tried all of the shades out but the apricot and green were what I reached for the most. I like the whole idea behind the product but my main dislike for this product is the applicator I feel a different applicator would have been much better for this product. For me when I used it it went on well but it didn’t layer nicely and was hard to set it smudged and lost the coverage. Overall I probably wouldn’t use this product again there are better colour correcting concealers on the market.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I was able to try these products and my overall opinion of these were they weren't that great. I have fairly light skin tone with dark circles and redness, I tried the apricot and found of first use way too much product came out of the pen. When I finally got the correct amount out it was still too dark for my skin tone and it still showed through my make-up. I then tried the green pen for redness and had the same results. I then tried the Blue pen to see if the other colours may have been too dark for my skin tone and found it made me look very pale. I would not bother buy these pens as I didn't feel they gave me the results I was after.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not amazing, not terrible!\nI have quite pale skin and I used the apricot colour to correct under eye darkness! \nWe'll start with the positives....quite good coverage! I liked the applicator however I needed to use a different brush to really blend it out properly. \nThe negatives.....when it came time to wash the product off I found that it almost stained my face, it took two cleanses to completely remove the colour. \nI also trialled one eye with the colour corrector and concealer and the other eye just with concealer and I preferred concealer by itself. I found when I had the colour corrector underneath the product went quite thick and cakey. \n\nOverall I won't be adding this product to my everyday makeup bag as it didn't really do my face any favours!\n

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unfortunately these didn't work out so well for me. First up - the pros - the applicators were fantastic, they really did make application easy. The apricot was unfortunately still too dark for my skin type, I think I need something one shade lighter. The green and blue/purple was nice though. My skin type (a bit textured, and dried) meant however that these didn't sit well on my skin. Adding to that, having three layers of product (colour corrector, foundation, concealer) can make things look a bit cakey after a couple of hours of wear. Maybe that's just me though who doesn't wear a full face for every days - I prefer a lighter look for the day - to day. If you're a full face wearer, will normal/oily skin type, with a medium skin tone, you'd probably like these however.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I can't say I was overly impressed with the Maybelline master camo colour correcting pens, I have mostly used the green (to cover red pigmentation) and apricot (to cover dark circles) colours. I found them easy to apply and they went on smoothly and had good coverage but over the course of the day I found the areas I had placed it got quite patchy and almost had a kind of crusty look. I do have dry skin so I don't know if that had an impact on the product but don't find other products have this effect on my skin.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pen design dysfunctional and wasteful. Regret this purchase. Complete waste of money. Turning the end cap about 20 times releases the product but far too much product seeps out which is wasteful. You cannot easily control the volume out. Also expect to wait for the product to start seeping out the application side. Traditional style lipstick type applicator is far superior.
Date published: 2019-08-16
Rated 1 out of 5 by from The concept of these products is fantastic - using different colours like filters for different problems. However the execution was poor. The concealer was much too thick to enable the product to be effectively blended. Some of the correctors are much to pigmented to ever be invisible under makeup let alone create a flawless complexion. Given that to achieve the desired complexion results you would need to purchase a minimum of 3 pens, I would recommend just buying a good quality concealer that can achieve everything and more these pens can.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I was excited to trial the suite of colour correcting pens as I have often looked at similar products with curiosity. I have some redness and scarring from teenage acne, and have occasional dark circles under my eyes. I found the product easy to apply as the cushion applicator made this a breeze...blending the product into my foundation however was not so easy. I found that the colour of the colour correcting pens (green/red/yellow) showed through my concealer and foundation no matter how much I attempted to blend the product. If you are a fan of thick, cream, full coverage concealer and foundations this product may be perfect for you! However if you prefer a lighter coverage foundation, perhaps this is not the product for you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I had high hopes for these correcting pens as I struggle with redness, dullness and dark under eye circles. I didn't try the red corrector as it isn't suitable for light skin. Firstly, application - the doe-foot applicator began releases product well beyond the estimated 20 twists. When a small amount finally did come out I tested the apricot corrector. There was way too much product and the apricot colour peered through my concealer despite much blending. The second time I tried the same colour I used only the residue from the previous application, waited for it to 'dry' and applied concealer ontop. Still, the corrector mixed with my concealer forming a new colour which no-one would want under their eyes. This mixing of colours also occurred with the other correctors even with a light, dabbing motion. Also any corrector placed on my cheeks amplified the look of my pores. The most usable of all of them would be the green however the green pigment sticks to dry patches (which red blemishes usually are) and took more time than I had to fix. \n\nOverall, I would not recommend these as they do not work as a layering product.
