Rated 4 out of 5 by from Allowed breastfeeding [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These nipple shields have allowed me to breastfeed with flat nipples. I was measured in hospital which allowed me to find a good fit, although it seems I’m between sizes which is a bit annoying. They are challenging to get in place, and bub often knocks them off despite suction and applying breast milk to try to make them stick.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great transition. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My baby was premature and her first time sucking was with a bottle, so it didn't tire her as much. She grew so accustomed to the plastic feeling in her mouth that she could not attach naturally. The lactation consultant recommended that we use a medela nipple shield to help with the process of getting her to latch. This worked well!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Saved my breastfeeding journey [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were definitely a godsend when I was breastfeeding early on and both of my babies had trouble latching. They helped them latch well and also relieved discomfort of feeding. It was relatively easy to wean them off once I was comfortable to do so as well. Would definitely recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Helps with breastfeeding with flat nipples Flat nipples and trying to breastfeed without this shield wouldve been very difficult. This thing was a life saver for me and bub feeding. Really soft and thin which made it really comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were great as a tester at the hospital when I was having latching issues with bub very early on. As a first time mum I had no idea what was the right way to get her to latch. With this shield it really helped to ease the comfort and helped bub to be comfortable too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good nipple shield [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Medela Contact Nipple Shields are good and can help to make breastfeeding easier depending on what the problem is. My bubs had latch-on difficulties too but this didn’t really help me personally, instead practice and persistence did. For sore nipples, I found it easier to apply nipple creams too. The silicone will also yellow over time. For sizing, I used the helpful medela guide.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found them a little hard to get on and stay but with the help of the NICU nurse we got there. I used these for bubs first breastfeed as he couldn’t latch straight on but with the help of the shield he was able to. While I exclusively pump every now and then he will have a breast feed and we still use these. They are thin enough that bub is still able to stimulate the letdown and I find it also stops my letdown from being to much for him. Storage container they come with is great too

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Life saver in early days [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A midwife recommended using shields in the early breastfeeding days with my son as i had “flat nipples” and needed help initially to feed. They helped in the early days with the pain and latch avoiding blisters. I like that they are thing and have a carrycase so i could put them in the baby bag when out and about

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shields were a life saver at the beginning of my breastfeeding journey. They were recommended from a midwife while I was still in hospital then I kept using them when I left hospital. These are the only ones I have tried so can’t compare but I thought they worked well. Easy to clean, mostly easy to put on. Sometimes they would fall off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product, great. Me, not great. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My inverted nipple made breastfeeding a real pain, but out of all of the nipple shields I used, this was by far the best. It was easy to apply to the nipple and our baby seemed the least irritated by it (she was very fussy). The little compact it comes in is great too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were amazing. Does take a little bit of patience to work out exactly how to have them stick and not knocked off with the bubbas nose but once you’ve got the hang they are great for giving cracked nipples a little break. Also come in a nice little storage case

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Little helpers [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These saved my nipples when they got damaged, had blebs and just plain hurt during those first few weeks of breastfeeding. They are a bit of a challenge to put on at first, but once you get the hang of it goes in smoothly. Love that it comes with a case, and that they are readily available at the supermarket when you need it asap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Helps breastfeeding troubles [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried these as a bit of a last resort when baby was refusing the breast. They are a thin material, and have a gap to maximise skin contact with baby which is great. I found them a pain to clean/sterilize/dry every single time, but if it helps to maintain breastfeeding to fix short term problems it’s worth it. It didn’t resolve our problem but did give me confidence that I had tried everything.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A necessity for me! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used these with both of my babies as neither of my children were able to latch at birth. I found them easy to use (once you get the hang of it!), quite comfy on, and easy to clean. The only downside was the yellow storage case - the hinge part snapped on every one I had. Not a big deal as I just stored the shields in a clean container between uses. I do wish they were a little more accessible in smaller towns as well - my local stockists only carry one size. Overall a wonderful product - I know shield use is often frowned upon by some people, but I wouldn’t have had successful breastfeeding journeys without these shields, so I think they definitely have their place for some people.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for newborns [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My new burns being premi didn’t know how to suck and feed properly so these were definitely needed at the start to help me and them once they got better I didn’t need them but they helped with the pain and helped me from getting worse and easy for the boys to latch too

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great nipple shield [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are great nipple shields which are nice, soft, gentle and comfortable to be used. They help bubs drink from the nipple. They come in different sizes and are easy to clean and sterilise. The flow from the shields is nice and there are multiple holes in the shield to promote flow when babies are drinking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Medela [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Medela Nipple Shields were recommended to me by a midwife as an essential to have in a feeding caddy. They are inexpensive and easy to clean and sterilize and come in a handy case. I had them but thankfully never had to use them but was glad that if I did need them, they were there cleaned, sterilized and ready to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super helpful [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From birth, our baby has had trouble latching. The midwife gave me one of these to try while we were still in the hospital and it worked a treat. I ended up buying more when we came home and haven’t looked back. Also helps with protecting the nipples and is less painful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cautious with sizing Exchanged size for one bigger (large) as shield not meant to have contact with nipple.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for that shallow latch [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I struggled initially with my first to get her to latch and oh my the pain but once the midwife recommended these shields omg we hit the milk jackpot and we used them for a solid six months. I loved them so much I had them ready for when my son was born this year and we used them straight away and he was fine with them too... perfect for baby shower presents when your stuck on what to get too

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An inverted nipples breast friend (pardon the pun) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter was born a month premature and really struggled to latch onto my inverted nipples. The midwives gave me a medela breast shield to try whilst in hospital and it helped me to continue our breastfeeding journey where I would have given up. The instructions recommend to wet them with breast milk prior to help them stick however I found this caused them to slip around more. On a dry nipple, these work great and we are still using them and exclusively breastfeeding 5 months on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very helpful but easily fall off [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I started to use it after recommended by my lactation consultation due to one side inverted nipple. It also helped me and made me a lot more comfortable for sore nipple on the other side. However, it always took me sometimes to fit it and it can fall off easily. I did not use it for long as I was afraid my girl will get nipple confuse.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Could be better [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I started using these as I had issues with latching. They were amazing, as I could continue breastfeeding. However, they kept falling, making a mess, interrupting the feeding and spilling precious milk. I like the quality of them, but they need to do something about the suction and overall design.
Date published: 2020-08-26
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good to assist in latching [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased these as suggested by my lactation consultant as my little one had breast refusal. Found although they helped the breast feeding path, they didn’t tend to stay on that well, appear to need a larger breast to keep them on, and not slide off. Found the case handy to have to store, as being so thin and light – it could be very easy to lose these shields in a house.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great support [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used these with my first born as she had trouble latching. It was a great support in helping my breastfeeding journey and soon no longer needed the shields. They are a little hard to clean especially if using nipple cream but didn't effect the use of them. Handy with the case also

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good job [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son was born late term preemie and we had some troubles with latching so the midwife gave me this nipple shield and it made a big difference. It took a little getting used to at the start and sometimes the shield doesn't stay on well, but all in all bub feeds pretty well on it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not my first pick [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While I found nipple shields a must when breastfeeding and expressing, unfortunately these were not my first pick. They did ease the pain and provide protection and I like the fact they are BPA free and come with a little hygienic case. However I didn’t like how much of it surrounded my nipple and that bubs cheek and mouth wasn’t resting on natural skin.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lifesaver [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bub was born with a tongue tie and the lactation consultant we saw fitted me with a medela nipple shield. If it wasn't for this shield, I wouldn't have been able to breastfeed. It was easy to use, thin, and the case it came in made it easy to throw in the nappy bag or keep next to the bed for middle of the night feeds. I had three on rotation and unfortunately they deteriorated after about 2 months from the sterilisation, but that could have been my fault.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Medela nipple shields [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had cracked and sore nipples with my twins at about week 3 of breastfeeding. I used Medela nipple shields so I could continue breastfeeding and give the nipples a chance to heal. When using the nipple shields, latching was a lot easier and the sensitivity and soreness was dulled down to a minimum. They slowed the flow of milk which meant feeding took longer but I only needed the shields for a few days.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Medela Contact Nipple Shields [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were not my cup of tea. I was told they helped to avoid cracking nipples and things like that, however they just felt weird and unnatural. Baby did not like them at all. I can understand why people use them, they just weren't for me and my baby boy
